If you want to hire a vehicle from a company where you have to basically do all the phoning and Emailing then these people are the ones for you! As for the car we hired,well let’s just say I’ve never seen a clutch pedal with a biting point so high that you virtually have no room under the steering wheel for your knees!We honestly thought the car was an old diesel and not a modern unleaded vehicle because it was making so much noise. Come on guys get your act together and you might stop getting poor reviews!

Great experience from start to finish. Friendly staff who went out their way for me as i needed a specific vehicle. They added extra miles to my hire as i needed more than normal. Many thanks for an excellent efficient service👌👍

Now they lie in feedback trying to save their BAD reputation CLEARLY they gave me vehicle and I have video footage and booked it 2 weeks previous even management lie stay away or be very careful........Totally unacceptable vehicle 9seater Vito 72 plate full of dents scratches cill crunched up spare wheel in boot still dirty inside I asked and confirmed about vehicle being upto standard with 2 phone calls but no totally unhappy Zac was very disrespectful to me cancelling vehicle leaving us in absolutely shock horror never have I seen a company trying to hire vehicles like this trading standards needs escalating this company

From start to finish, the experience was seamless. I hired a Transit van for 24 hours and was genuinely impressed by the professionalism and efficiency of the team. The vehicle was in excellent condition, and all pre- and post-hire checks were carried out thoroughly and transparently.

Very bad company . I'd never use them again . I use a great hire established around the world company now. These cowboys robbed my deposit & said their faulty van door was me who broke it. Be careful renting from cowboys .

Had a long running problem with my car and spent quite a lot with several garages trying to get it put right. Nothng seemed to work and I was beginning to think it was a write off, but Elliots fixed it for me. Am very grateful to Mo and to Warren, and will look to them in future should I need a garage again.

Did not return my deposit instead of crediting my card the £250.00 back they in fact took another £250.00. They now owe me £500.00!

Elliotts car hire were absolutely amazing from the minute I called about the car hire enquiry to the refund of the deposit. Extremely reasonable price for the car hire, very quick prompt and professional service from the car delivery and drop off to the admin staff (Courtney in particular) I highly recommend using this company as you will not be disappointed at all. 10/10 for every aspect of the service

Please can Yaz (or any owner / manager) call me urgently about the van you rented us that broke down on the Motorway. I need to know where it is and where the key is, so I can recover the thousands of pounds of equipment from it! Your office say call back at 9am, then 10:30am, now 1pm! I am being messed around like crazy. Please contact me urgently and sort this out. You did nothing about it yesterday! I am incurring costs the longer I don’t have the contents back. This is urgent, please stop ignoring me. Your office have my contact details.

I’ve used this company several times over the last 10+ years NEVER AGAIN.

December 2021 I had a van and when I returned it they claimed there was a scratch/minor dent on it that I would have to pay for. Fortunately I had taken my own pictures of the same area when I picked it up and could prove the scratch/dent was already there.

Now my latest rental with them 17/2/2024

I picked a van up for 24 hours. I took pictures of immediate damage and scratches that I could easily see and there were a lot (64, listed in the contract, received by email after the rental started, ( I should of asked for a different van) the email included front back and side views of the van. Even when you zoom in you can’t see all of the listed scratches and damage.

During the time I had the van it was not left anywhere or close to anything where it could have been scratched so I’m 1000% positive that the new scratch they showed me was not caused by me or during the time I had it.

They jet washed the van as soon as I arrived back.

We had a disagreement regards the van being returned fully fuelled. I put 3.5 gallons of diesel in which should have given me between 80-115 miles of fuel usage. I travelled a total of 39.9 miles. I couldn’t force any more diesel into the tank after the pump cut out I retracted the nozzle and restarted the pump 3 times until the diesel showed about to spill out. I travelled maximum 4-5 miles from the petrol station to their premises. But their pictures of the petrol gauge showed that it wasn’t quite full so they wanted me to pay a £10 admin fee plus additional costs for any extra diesel they could force in. I note that the van was not level on the road as it was parked part way onto a raised pavement which could have caused the petrol guage to give a false reading the tank was not full

When they showed me there was an additional scratch, they said I would have to pay for its repair. I suspect that during the previous cleaning/preparation of the van they had managed to remove this minor scratch before hand so that it doesn’t show on pictures. It Can be done easily with polish or WD 40. But it only temporarily removes it, during the heavy rain we had or the jet wash clean, it’s removed the scratch covering to reveal it.

So their standard charge for a scratch paint repair is £250 plus VAT. In the attendants words “But as we normally do, we will waive the VAT if you pay cash now.” ( That’s VAT fraud) I refused to pay cash.

I did also point that if they have charged all the previous hirerers at least £250 for all the other 64 scratches that’s an additional minimum of £16k in extra charges and they haven’t done any repairs. To which he replied. We do all the repairs when we decommission the van to sell it. So their going to pay all that money out for all the repairs and paint job to get probably max £3k-£4k at auction. I don’t think so!

Reluctantly I had to agree they didn’t refund me my £250 security deposit but have also taken the precautions of cancelling my credit card and informing the card company of what has occurred incase they try to take any other unauthorised payments.

My biggest regret is that I didn’t take any additional pictures of the back of the van before i collected it or when I returned it.

If you ever hire a car or van take a video of the whole vehicle inside and out, if there are lots of marks or scratches ask for a different one and get your rental contract before you take the keys and cross reference all the marks they have listed.

Sadly even if I did this yesterday the scratch I believe the had covered up possibly still wouldn’t have been noticeable.

I won’t be hiring a van again.

Really helpful and friendly staff, painless process for hiring and returning the vehicle and the vehicle itself was excellent- it was brand new and spotlessly clean. Really good service and competitive pricing- I shopped around a bit and they weren't the absolute cheapest, but they were almost and I felt it was worth a few quid extra to go with a local company.

The man in charge is a blackmailer and uses the franchise to exploit and rob people

Requested a booking on line - got an email saying I would receive a callback within 24 hours - no one called...
I then found that Elliotts email addresses, either elliottscars or elliottsvans, do not accept incoming emails!!
Eventually booked van by telephone for a 9am pick up.
The first van we were offered had a front passenger door that would not open!
They then found a replacement van. The front tyres were very worn, almost smooth around the edges and only 2mm tread in the centre. Since the forecast was for heavy rain, this was worrying!
When we got to set off, now over an hour late, we found that the outer passenger seat belt would nor fasten, as part of the catch was missing. This was a problem, as there were 3 of us!
Returned van next morning - no compensation for issues, not even an apology...

Recently I had my first time renting a car from Elliotts when I was visiting family in the Manchester area, though I now live in Canada and it was an excellent customer experience.
The price quoted, was with insurance, so there's none of the usual extras or hidden fees, which is always a bonus.
The booking staff were lovely and efficient and the hand over team carry out a very thorough inspection with pictures, all of which are provided via email.
I was only looking for a 4 day small car rental, so booked and paid for a little Corsa, but when Brad inspected it, the inside, had a clear smell of weed from the last renter, which I 100% confirmed, so I was upgraded to a lovely Peugeot 208 Premium with automatic transmission and every luxury available in a small car.
They clearly take great pride in their vehicles and want to you to look after them, so not only are they notifications in the vehicle, but they also hand out a little reminder that the damage excess is 1000 pounds, but for me that wasn't an issue.
Drop off takes a few minutes, but they give the vehicle a thorough inspection and as promised, the 250 pound damage deposit was refunded within a couple of days.
Overall it was an excellent experience, from both of the young ladies that I dealt with, to Brad and his work mates who inspect have to get all the vehicles in and out of a very tight yard, so I'm happy to recommend them and I look forward to supporting a local business when I'm visiting and need to rent a car again.

Van was in a poor state - broken tail light full of water - tail lift was also faulty health and safety issue broken wing mirror also automatic lights didn't work.
Also a warning light permanently on needing an oil change. The mechanic who set out to rectify the tail light was very rude.
