We went to Dobbies at kew wood for breakfast following park run. I have to say it was possibly the rudest team I have ever encountered. I actually considered not eating and waiting until i got back.

As we entered we had dogs and were just waved about with no real direction. We found a table but then nobody would advise how we ordered or paid so it was very confusing, there were 7 of us stood waiting to order food and the girl just walked away from us all.

Then as we were waiting to order drinks another lady approached with a dog and was told she couldnt walk through, this was fair as it was no dogs allowed in this section, she advised she was on her own and instead of offering any help the staff member rolled her eys and shrugged at her then carried on. I said to my friend "that was so rude" at this point she must have heard me and went after the lady who was then allowed to walk through with her dog.

They were very understaffed meaning we waited 10 minutes just to order food, all she had to do was write it down and plate it after as all pre cooked and we were all together. Drinks was worse, left waiting again with 1 staff member who seemed to not know what she was doing. The only staff member i found to be polite was the one taking money. He actually was lovely, so much so i felt like saying thank you for smiling at us.

The value of becoming part of the Dobbies membership is good value in a whole of variety of ways. Two free coffee's each month alone is well worth the cost of becoming a member never mind the 10 % discount on plants.

If you want a warm welcome and friendly customer service, I'd suggest going elsewhere.

Went in the Southport Dobbbies and the restaurant needs serious reorganisation. Firstly it is confusing with all its different counters … one for hot, one for cakes and tea &coffee….one in the middle for extra cakes…one on the side for drinks and another hidden at the bottom end for serve-yourself tea and coffee. There was one poor woman on the cakes, tea & coffee side where a big queue was building up because she had to operate the coffee machine. Would be better if customers served themselves with the cakes because we had to wait for her. If we didn’t want the special coffee we could then go directly to the self-service tea/coffee at the end. This woman was run ragged and clearly very stressed out by practically throwing the cakes and drinks onto the tray (not her fault). They should have had two people on there. We were not impressed at all.

Had Xmas special 2 course lunch.
It wasn't warm enough and the young lady that served us apologised and brought out two nice hot meals. They were fine and we enjoyed them. She looked after us well.
I would point out that the cutlery trays are dirty. Lots of bits in the containers. They should be wiped out daily.

Visited the cafe today, was a little dubious after reading some poor reviews but had excellent fish and chips. The cafe was clean , staff were helpful and the service super quick.

The food in the restaurant is poor and over priced. It's not difficult to make jacket potatoes...they were dry and unpleasant...and expensive for what we received. A trip to the toilets was disgusting. There was not 1 cubicle that was clean. As a result, we left without buying anything, such was our desperation to use clean facilities

Helpful staff and some reasonable plants but some badly needed water.

I went in for slug pellets, I couldn’t see any in the area that had other pest/weed control products. I then spotted a tub as part of a display, so I took them to the checkout. At the checkout there was a fully stocked shelf of slug pellets! I could have easily walked out of the shop without noticing them. Very annoying that there wasn’t even a small selection with the similar products, that the entire stock seemed to be at the checkout. To add insult to injury I then had to join an incredibly long queue to pay with only 1 member of staff serving (which is not unusual at this store)

The food was terrible this week, chips cold, 2 teaspoons of salad, going back to how it was last year 😩

The centre is always well stocked with a fine range of garden and leisure related products.
Friendly helpful staff.

Happy with service, especially restaurant service, which has improved immensely.

it took 15 minutes in a queue to reach the front so I could order two cups of coffee. no complaint of the staff on duty. this is a regular occurrence. due to shortage of staff on duty.

Dobbies Southport. Just one star because not able to give no stars. Waited for over half an hour in a long queue of people for lunch. The service was understaffed and those that were serving didn’t seem to be fully trained or have a clue on how to progress things along. No sign of any management. Lots of other very dissatisfied customers. Very disappointed. Not the first time this has happened. Come on Dobbies catering department. Sort it out.

Bought 2 Peckish filled seed/suet feeders - great price and quality - 5*****

A year ago I left a 2 start review of dobbies restaurant and said never again against my better judgement my wife decided to go today 16/3/24 saying to her self surly it must have improved well 38£ for 3 dry tuna jacket potatoes with half of a tomatoe piece of cucumber and 3 coffees the staff behind counter who where unhelpful and at best rude so no matter what review you leave it seems they don't act on any of your complaints on leaving the garden centre I did report my complaints to a senior member of staff who informed me she would report it to the centre manager SO buy your plants by all means BUT FOR GODS SAKE DON'T EAT HERE YOU HAVE BEEN INFORMED
