We stopped for lunch today and although the food was good, the price for what you were given was actually poor.Around £30 for fish and chips and a macaroni and around ten poor chips in a very small bowl. X2 drinks. Not great. Food good, poor portion size for the price, was a tad shocked as this could have been a child's portion possibly ? Or is that standard ?

Waited ages to be served and then had to go and find someone. We ordered
two toasties and they were inedible. No cheese to speak of and only two pieces of tomato, slimy salad and coleslaw without any mayonnaise. Asked if we wanted a refund, we both said yes but mine never came through! We weren't given receipts as I saw the manager discard these so I have no proof. I definitely won't visit this restaurant again! Usually fine but has gone so far downhill!

Good food and good service

I would not recommend this place to anyone not even on a rainy day, worst management ever! Following a serious accident a while ago I’ve not received any apology or sympathy from any of the management team! The accident happened in their car park before I even got into the Garden Centre. There is an old saying ‘there is 2 sides to every story’, well only one side was listened too and it wasn’t mine!!!!!!! But one thing they did good was repair the hole where my foot went into causing me to fall and break my leg, well done them!!!! Couldn’t get correct year but day/month is when it happened!! Just a wee reminder how badly I was treated!,

Great selection of plants and had exactly the the plants I was looking for !

Very friendly staff. Restaurant was clean and welcoming.
Only complaint was that drinks were at best lukewarm.

The staff are really friendly and helpful the cafe is really clean and there was no food on the floor

The service time is very poor and food not up to standard. We were in for lunch and the toastie (when it arrived was cold and the bread stale) also salad had not been cleaned properly and was wilted. It took us over an hour and a half from ordering our food until payment made. Staff were not much help when we complained and felt as if we were fobbed off. Close part of the restaurant so limited staff can cope.

My husband and I were at the restaurant today for afternoon tea (Lasswade Road) not being at Dobbies for a few years. It was very hectic when we arrived and a bit chaotic and very busy. The staff were handling it well though. I want to say a particularly big thank you to George Staff Member who served us in the restaurant. He was the one who made our visit nice.
Very attentive and nothing was a problem. Thanks again George. Think he should be praised my management for his professional mannerism with the customers. Mr &Mrs Harris

Easily able to find all I wanted from good selection of plants with no delay at checkout.

Wanted particular plants and was given good advice by one of the staff.

Staff are always helpful and friendly. Food and coffee of a high standard

Hey visited Dobbies today for afternoon tea with friends.
Our server Owen gave us excellent service even though he was run off his feet nothing was to much trouble for him.
Excellent service snd customer care, a real breath of fresh air

Went for lunch today, what a mistake. We were told that there would be a 30 minute wait, however we decided to give it a chance. We were placed in an area outwith the main dining area and it was freezing, so we changed our mind and moved, having decided to have a tea and sandwich. Disappointed in the choice of pre packed sandwiches, white bread only and very poor quality. Why have they changed what was an excellent venue. We will not be returning any time soon.

Went for coffee this morning after Church,as we usually do,long queue for coffee while second coffee counter was unmanned,decided we would go for lunch instead oops wrong move nice young lady took us to a table then told us there was a 45 minute wait for food.Very sorry Dalkeith your service is going sadly down hill,even the free coffee might not tempt us back.
