This relates to Dixons - Working on my behalf as an Estate Agent handling the sale of my property

I’m leaving this review to help others avoid the situation I found myself in. The contract wording used by Dixons is not as clear as it should be, and it’s very easy for customers to misunderstand how long they are tied in for, PLEASE PLEASE READ ALL THE FINE PRINT BEFORE SIGNING ON THE DOTTED LINE, all the glitters isn't gold and I found that out to my peril.

People need to be aware that when you sign with Dixons, you are committed to a binding 16‑week minimum period, and even after those 16 weeks have passed, you are still tied in for a further 28 days’ notice. During this notice period, you cannot use another estate agent, cannot remarket elsewhere, and cannot move on, even if you have already asked for the property to be removed from the market.

In my case, I had been with Dixons for 5 months (20 weeks) by the time I asked for the property to be withdrawn — well beyond the 16‑week minimum period — and I genuinely believed the agreement had naturally ended. Only afterwards did I discover that the contract continues indefinitely until you give 28 days’ written notice, even when the property is no longer being marketed, they take it off their books but tie you in to a further 28 days where you cannot approach or relist with another Estate agent.

I raised this with the Property Ombudsman, not to seek compensation, but to highlight what I believe is unclear and potentially misleading wording so that others might be better protected. Unfortunately, because the clause is technically written in the contract, the Ombudsman does not assess fairness — only whether the agent followed the wording.

My hope is that this review helps others go into the agreement with full awareness, as the practical implications of the notice period are not obvious from the way the contract is presented.

They Never replied to Emails at all, I think they were afraid of committing anything to an audit trail I think

Hannah is the most disgusting person ever, I'm actually regretting giving her a good review, she has stolen my money and blamed me for not meeting certain requirements after i provided everything she needed, if certain requirements weren’t met then no problem, give me back my money and ill look elsewhere, dixons is trash and the service is trash, wouldn’t recommend it to anyone, they will steal your money and blame u for it,

I have dealt with Dixons Estate Agents on several house viewings in Birmingham, and my experience has been excellent. Amy and Claire are genuinely the nicest estate agents I have met. They are energetic, professional, and—most importantly—they take the time to listen. They really paid attention to my preferences for buying a house, made thoughtful recommendations, and never once tried to push a property on me that didn’t feel right.

Their approach is completely different from my experience with Oakmans, where I always felt like just another person in a long queue and, at times, as if they were doing me a favour by showing a property. With Dixons, the process felt personal, respectful, and genuinely helpful.

If you’re looking to buy or sell a house in Birmingham, I would definitely recommend going to Dixons.

Agent delayed viewing booking by 10 minutes, then proceeded to be another 25 mins late. Unresponsive over texts, didn't introduce themselves and even had to have my appointment with another potential tenant at the same time due to delays. I found this absolutely unprofessional as they should have at least had the courtesy to do this 1-1. They did not have enough information about the property and felt very rushed to leave. Property was also not cleaned before the viewings, very off-putting state unlike as shown in listing photos.

I was shown a property by Holly from the Bromsgrove branch.
Her professionalism and knowledge was excellent.
I was very impressed with Holly, is a credit to Dixons.

I did not receive the level of mortgage support I expected from this company. While their general customer service was satisfactory, the mortgage advisor was not helpful. Despite charging a substantial fee, I do not feel that he secured the best possible deal for me. In my view, Mr. Mazar Singh appeared more focused on maximising his own profit than on acting in the best interests of the customer, particularly given his £700 fee.

Becky at Dixons Yardley office has been brilliant with the sale of my family home of 54 years,she put me at ease no stress,she has excellent communication about the area and between herself and me,she sold my house in 1 Day im absolutely buzzing,

After trying to sell my house with a previous estate agents with no luck, I decided to go to Dixons in kingsheath with Amelia Pace, which was the best decision I have ever made!
With her straight talking, empathy and desire to get the job done she got my house sold with her unbelievable drive and no messing around attitude. When it came to completion even though there were complications from the buyers side, Amelia with her perserverance and pushing both sets of solicitors, got the job done extremely professionally!
Amelia was always at hand and was willing to help with anything i needed, she also sorted me out with a rental property at short notice, she is an absolute credit to Dixons and is highly recommended!!!

Fantastic! I've used Dixons for over 20 years to deal with my lettings portfolio. I wouldn't dream of using another Letting Agent. I can call at anytime and they will resolve any queries or issues I have immediately. They know the background of all my properties which helps with any dealings. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

AVOID AVOID AVOID! The viewing with Hannah was fine and she was lovely. But after paying the deposits, first month's rent in advance and getting the keys it had all gone wrong. The boiler broke, the landlord left his belongings behind and is using the space i pay rent for for his car, then i find out my balcony has to be ripped up because of a leak into the apartment below. Raised multiple times with Jess and keep getting ignored. I have my own property to let out, which they know about, and there is no way I will let these cowboys manage it for me because the way they treat tenants is disgusting!

Castle Bromwich branch were absolutely brilliant when I sold my property recently. They whole team went above and beyond from start to finish and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to buy or sell in this part of the Midlands.

I've recently completed, I was a first time buyer, I'd had a previous bad experience where a dodgy seller pulled out at the last minute and cost me money, I was kind of struggling with the whole process, but Dixons made it easy for me. I was shown round the property by Alison, who knew everything about the property and the area, even who the neighbours were, then from there Sarah handled it and she was brilliant, always keeping me informed and chasing the other solicitor. Then my solicitor went into administration and couldn't carry on working and even then Sarah told me exactly what to do and handled it all for me once I had a new solicitor. It was a massive relief in the end. I'd definitely recommend Dixons after that.

I went to Dixon for a flat on Oldbury, all god till i got there to see the propriety i was shocking in what condition was the flat, absolutely disgusting, they want 850£ rent for one bedroom and another 850£ deposit, the condition of the walls absolutely unbelievably all wallpaper falls down and tales from kitchen missing, no dors between bedroom and kitchen, and at the end I have refused to get the flat they refuse to refunding my holdings fees, absolutely legal robers this agents.

I met Becca in Birmingham while I have put up for rent my house through Dixons estate agents. Becca was tasked to carry out viewing of interested people.
The reason that I am writing this review is that I was impressed how well Becca did carry out the viewings and how professional she comes across especially in communicating with people.
