Vultures Overhead

What makes them think they have to right to send ads? Who knows when I'll die but I'm living my life. I don't need them to remind me my time could be short. They are like vultures circling overhead waiting for someone to die so they can profit from it. There should be a law against sending mailings to elders. They should not be allowed access to my information. Scumbags is what they are.

No dignity with Dignity

My father and I went to Dignity several years ago. They gave us a price and a copy of the paper work. The very next day and daily thereafter for 10 days the rep called and sent emails stating he wanted the paperwork back. I told him the paperwork was shredded and don't contact me again.

My mother passed away about 8 months later. Because of their treatment we went with another company. My father passed away 1 year later. Now Dignity has started sending me emails saying the paper work is not complete and they would love to contact me. This brings up all sorts of emotions about my parents deaths. I have sent emails each time asking them to stop. Sure enough 2 weeks later I get another email stating they haven't heard from me.

There is no dignity with Dignity. They will hound you day and night.

They do use correct information in…

They do use correct information in their dealings.they listed false information about my husband . They did not fact check their information and when my sister in law called and informed them of their false information. They hung up on her. The unprofessionalism of their actions is beyond belief. Where did they get the funeral directors degree? And who licensed these people?

Just an update on the dilemma regarding…

Just an update on the dilemma regarding the burial plot at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Clara and Charles Merritt donated lot # 249, plots 1 and 2 to my mother and father in Nov 1985 with the intended purpose that they would be buried together. Clara and Charles then purchased two other plots for themselves close by. Somehow, we do not have any paperwork for the two plots. But, that does not mean that the Merritt's did not transfer the deed to Dad in 1985, it just means we have no proof.

Sacred Heart cemetery claims they have no paperwork for the two plots as well, which seems strange. Because anytime there is a bill of sale, a copy should go to the purchaser and a copy should then be retained by the seller. So, it would seem, that Sacred Heart Cemetery shoulders some responsibility to maintain a receipt of the bill of sale.

Nonetheless, our current problem is, apparently, mom's casket was placed in the center of plots 1 and 2, so she is occupying both spaces, which does not leave room on either side for another casket. They are not sure how this happened.

Clearly, this mistake is not the fault of our family or the Merritt family, as we are not experts on burial grounds, and the responsibility lies with the cemetery. So, technically speaking, the cemetery should have to move mom's casket over into the proper plot, making room for dad to be buried next to her. But because we don't have paperwork, and they do not have paperwork, they claim they cannot do this.

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Dallas owns the cemetery. Dignity memorial has managed the cemetery since 1998. Which, interestingly enough, is around the time mom's headstone seemed to have been moved, something Dignity Memorial denies ever happening.

I told Dignity Memorial that our desire is to have our parents buried together. That Clara and Charles Merritt died believing that would also be the case. I told them we are considering having Dad buried at the veteran's cemetery and then our mother moved over to rest beside him. However, I have a sneaking suspicion that Sacred Heart cemetery will refuse to disinter Mom to be moved due to our lack of documentation.

I do have a call into the archive department at the Dallas diocese, but have yet to hear back from them

Incompetent, callous, dishonest service

Do not use these people. Annette is incompetent, callous, and a liar. Our mother passed away in November and it is January and due to her actions her cremation still has not taken place. This has caused huge stress and frustration with our family. I’m sure they’ll write a reply here trying to explain themselves but I warn you, go with another service.

There is NO DIGNITY with Dignity Memorial

Some woman named Teresa from the Surrey BC Dignity Funeral Services came into the room where we were waiting. We were waiting to receive 1/2 of our daughter's ashes. She looked at us with such disgust and disrespect (who knows why). She spoke as briefly as she could and left. We were shocked to be treated so horribly. We later found that she was told a lot of disinformation from the ex and believed it! Never met her in our life but we suffered deliberately cruel treatment as a result of viscous gossip. Not one drop of dignity there.

Deleted condolences

Deleted condolences, every single condolence. When I called, the woman said they were profane? I simply wrote we loved the deceased and the evil sister Carol Congdon never allowed communication with her. Happy to not live in Colorado! Use another funeral service.

Lack of Maintenance and Decorum

If you prepay for a burial, your grave will be located in the part of the cemetery where the graves are touching each other and there is no watering system or much maintenance. The building where services can be held is quite nice.

PLEASE BE CAUTIOUS!

PLEASE BE CAUTIOUS!! Today marks one year that my dear mother-in-law passed away. This past year has been very difficult as we miss her terribly but I still find myself more angry and disappointed and just want to make sure no one else ever has to go through an experience like this. For this reason I feel I need to share our unimaginable story. Our family entrusted Hodges-Josberger Funeral Home with the sacred duty of handling the final arrangements for my mother-in-law hoping this would be done with dignity, respect and the utmost care. Dennis was very professional, knowledgeable and compassionate. Tragically, this final act of love did not go as planned. My mother-in-laws final resting place was to be in Pennsylvania with Hodges-Josbergerhandling the arrangements. While making our drive to PA we received a heart wrenching phone call from the receiving funeral home stating that the remains they received did not match the pictures we provided them. This misidentification of her remains left even a bigger hole in our hearts and many unanswered questions. Immediately my husband called Dennis, who eventually confirmed that my mother-in-laws remains were indeed still in Florida. Needless to say they tried to right their wrong and scrambled to drive her remains to Pennsylvania arriving just in time for her viewing, but not in enough time for the receiving funeral home to properly prepare her like she should have been. See, my dad was a funeral director with his own establishment so I know first hand about this process, how important it is to loved ones and the meticulous attention to detail. Never in a million years did I think something like this could or would happen. Likewise, I also feel sorry for the remains and family of Minerva Labelle McGinnis who made an unnecessary and unwanted trip to PA. On this one year anniversary of her death I wanted to purchase the Timeless Touch finger print necklace for my three daughters and my niece but this ordeal makes me question if it’s really her fingerprint! I’m hoping after this incident Hodges-Josberger has implemented improved protocols and training to ensure accuracy and prevent this from ever happening again! To anyone reading make sure they check and double check. The loss of a loved one is a profound and painful experience no one should have to experience this added stress.

NEVER USE THIS COMPANY OR IT SUBSIDIARIES

I called their company to transfer my burial benefits to another state and all that took forever to happen. I never received any paperwork showing the transfer to another funeral home in my new state. I contacted Heather Covington via email and no reply. I then contacted 800 number and all they did was give me 3 funeral homes that might have my info. How is it that this company cannot look up your policy number and find out? I have waited two months to rectify this situation with no results. Oh and they also do not have a supervisor you can scream at which is crap. Every company does and this one needs to be reported to the BBB for their fraudulent behavior tactics.

Dignity Memorial is a crap company

Dignity Memorial is a crap company. They should not be allowed to operate. If you buy burial plots from them and then want to sell them to someone else, Dignity will not allow it. They say you do not own your plot but only have interment rights. They will not allow you to transfer those rights to other.

Prayer Cards

We used Dignity when our Father passed away, and again recently when our Mother passed away. We have no complaints about the staff. The one issue we are very disappointed with is that the prayer cards are not laminated. That is unprofessional, tacky, and a poor way to cut corners.

Rapheal Bigby

Rapheal Bigby, the funeral director is the most disrespectful and rude man I have ever encountered. He is very resistant to working with others and condescending with know-it-all attitude. This is not what people need when we have lost a loved one and are mourning. Wouldn't have this place, bury my dog because of him.
