We are so grateful to Jamie and Evie (North West England). They identified the source of our damp problem (2 water leaks). We had these rectified and our insurer was involved. A company working for our insurers then said we had a rising damp problem. Jamie came back, did more tests, and concluded we did not. More visits over several weeks getting contradictory results, but it turned out that Jamie was right all along. He cheerfully made 3 visits altogether. Excellent service. Cannot recommend more highly.

Jonathan from the Southwest damp detectives was professional and polite. He spoke through what he was investigating and how, then explained the likely causes of the damp problem.
He spoke in plain language and provided a full report promptly.

After wasting a lot of money with plumbers, builders and groundworkers, as well as wasting time with Thames Water, trying to locate the source of water ingress, Scott from Damp Detectives found the problem within minutes. He also pointed out other issues and made suggestions about getting everything properly dried out after repair. Well worth the cost of his visit. I wish I'd called him much sooner.

Jonathan has delivered an amazing service, from our initial discussion on the phone through to a detailed walk through on site during a pre-purchase damp survey. The advice was sensitive to historic buildings where all too often quick fix solutions are suggested, but not here. Detailed root cause and remediation suggestions leaning on traditional methods in keeping with the property and a detailed report turned around super quick. Couldn’t recommend enough!

Scott was very reactive when I enquired about a damp survey. He contacted me quickly to find out more about the situation, and he explained the process. On the day of the survey, Scott arrived on time and conducted the survey in a professional manner. He explained his findings in a way that was easy to understand. Extremely impressed with Richard and wish we had got him out sooner. We bought a house with damp a year ago and had issues getting the mortgage for it due to this. We had 2 other damp companies attend who tried selling us a damp course injection, but as they missed some clear gutter issues that we could even see ourselves we chose not to get the work done. We found a mortgage, fixed the gutters but the damp came back this winter. We therefore chose to try and get an expert in and Richard is definitely that. The guy is an absolute treasure chest of knowledge on damp problems.
He found multiple issues, and not only explained everything in depth with evidence, but also really took the time to educate me on causes, effects and solutions. And never at any point tried to sell me work. The whole process seemed extremely professional, honest and diligent. The previous 2 complanies were much cheaper, but it's clear that their goal is to just make money out of selling the damp course injections (which cost about £3000). Richard, however, is a true pro who we should have got out originally. All the work he suggested I can do myself which in the long run has saved us thousands. Really friendly guy too.

Jonathan did a very thorough and comprehensive survey of our home recently to advise us on damp patches and mould. We were both very impressed by his expertise and ability to explain what is (for some of us) complex ideas and to advise us on practical measures we could take. Highly recommended.

I have noticeable cold spots in the kitchen floor around the wall so asked Damp Detectives to complete a survey. Tim Platt visited and provided excellent advice. There is no underlying damp issue but he provided a number of recommendations that would help. Tim also provided additional advice on a number of other areas. The survey report had all the required information, photos and guidance I needed.

Thomas was extremely professional and thorough. Our flat had a serious damp problem and he was able to find the primary cause and give really helpful recommendationms for remedial action. We have had lots of issues with various damp patches appearing on our kitchen ceiling and have had various builders and roofers try to rectify the problem without success. We were given Richard Bull's contact info by a surveyor and we are pleased to say that Richard was able to find the source of the leak. He was very methodical and took his time, explaining everything to us. We are most grateful to him and would definitely recommend him to others.

Jonathan visited my property on 13 January 2026 as I have condensation in my garage and a wall that gets damp when it rains. Jonathan was very thorough and took time to explain everything to me in detail and gave advice as to what I could do to alleviate the issues. I have previously sought advice from two companies who both gave different remedies which left me unsure about what was the right thing to do hence I decided to get a survey from an independent surveyor who wasn’t selling me their product. I opted for a verbal report which was more than adequate for my needs as the advice Jonathan gave was very clear. Jonathan also assured me the problem was low level which greatly relieved my anxiety. I would have no hesitation in recommending this company.

Great communication from Jonathan in arranging an inspection on a house we wished to purchase. On the day, Jonathan was also able to pick up the keys from the estate agent, which was greatly appreciated.

The report was very thorough, with lots of photos and details and included key areas for remediation. The most important thing for us is that the advice provided was impartial and independent from other damp specialists, so we felt that the advice could be trusted and we were not being sold further remediation work.

Bryony carried out a detailed survey of our damp problem and identified the issue as a blocked subfloor ventilation brick. This has no doubt saved a lot of money as we can show the report to builders to obtain like for like quotes. Bryony was very thorough and identified no other damp problems in the house.
