Terrible customer service

Missed a payment by a few days due to financial difficulties and they called my wife and scolded her to the point of tears by saying how irresponsible she is and that she should have never signed up if she didn’t plan on paying it. I canceled my card and we’re paying hers off as soon as possible and canceling. Terrible customer service and disgusting behaviour by the woman on the phone.

Useless Canadian Tire Mastercard…

Tried using my Canadian Tire Mastercard for an online purchase.
Transaction failed with a 3DS authentication error.

Called customer service.
They put me on hold and said they “fixed it.”
Told me to wait five minutes and try again.

It still didn’t work.

Used my Visa immediately after.
Same purchase.
Worked on the first try.

That tells me the issue wasn’t on the merchant side.

That’s not real support.
No explanation.
No actual solution.
Just guesswork and sending the customer back to retry.

If your fix doesn’t work, you didn’t fix anything!

Very frustrating experience.

As a loyal customer

As a loyal customer, I am extremely disappointed with the way my account and recent inquiries were handled, both in terms of communication and customer service.

5 months ago I was temporary hospitalized I fell behind on a 2 payments. As soon as I was able, I contacted customer service to explain the situation and was led to believe that if I paid the full balance, I would be given grace and my account would not be flagged for missing any payments. I did exactly that the very next day, paid my 2 missed payments plus more and over the following months, I consistently made payments well above the minimum—often $300–$400 on a $1,800 limit.

Now 5 months pass, I reported my card as stolen during this time I was then offered a credit limit increase to $3,000. I declined at the time because I had not yet received my replacement card and wanted to wait until it arrived. I was told the offer would still be available within that timeframe my card should come in.

When I called back after finally receiving my card (which took longer than expected), I was met with rude and dismissive responses. I was told I had “missed the promotion” and that nothing could be done, I asked to speak to a supervisor and he told me rudely that despite what the customer service rep told me that day there was no grace given despite the effort I had made to correct my account immediately. Speaking to a supervisor didn’t improve the situation—if anything, the attitude from him was worse than the first service rep.

What’s frustrating is that I was eligible for an increase one week, and then suddenly not the next, with no real consideration of my recent payment history. (Over 5 years of steady payments on time- 2 missed! )

On top of that, the interest rate on this card is extremely high—virtually at the maximum allowed in Canada—which makes it even harder to justify, especially given the level of service I experienced.

I ultimately chose to cancel my card. Situations like this should be handled with more consistency, accountability, and respect—especially when a loyal customer makes a real effort to fix things and have a respectful conversation.

Unreliable Service and Dismissive Support

Three card blocks in one week—even after contacting customer service—and when escalated, I was told “you need to understand we are protecting ourselves from fraud” instead of receiving any acknowledgment or resolution. Repeated disruption with no accountability makes this card unreliable. After years as a loyal customer, I’m done.

CT Mastercard is great with the stores, but .....

CT Mastercard is great with the stores and the benefits it offers. However, the customer service is horrible and rude over the phone. I spoke to an agent today, and he had a very condescending tone and could even give a proper explanation to my questions.
2) The account details provide so many different balances that you can't make out which one to pay (??). It is a very badly designed visual for customers to understand.
Hope this feedback will improve their system and customer handling behaviours.

Our home was reduced to ashes and all our documents were destroyed. Canadian Tire Bank did not replace the credit card so we could pay them. Instead they were very difficult to deal with by sending each call to a "security team" who constantly were cutting off the calls by disconnecting. They did not replace the card and instead cancelled the account and sent it to a collections agency. Very cold hearted and did not help us at all at the worst time of our lives.

Been with CD MC for several years

Loyal customer over the years. Encountered an issue today and been on the phone with MC almost the entire day with no avail. Horrible see through, horrible customer service, horrible customer care. I do not recommend. There are so many other companies out there that do better.

ZERO STAR FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE

IF THERE'S ZERO STAR, I'LL GIVE IT A ZERO. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. I WAS ON A CALL WITH AN AGENT AND ASKING IF I COULD UPDATE MY LAST NAME ON MY ACCOUNT AS I HAVE REVERTED BACK TO MY LEGAL LAST NAME. I WAS ASKED TO SEND THEM A GOVERNMENT ID TO SUPPORT THE REQUEST, SO I DID. ANOTHER WEEK PASSED, I GOT A MAIL ASKING FOR A FEW MORE DOCUMENTS SO I SENT MY DIVORCE JUDGEMENT, MY DRIVER'S LICENSE AND MY BIRTH CERTIFICATE. ALTHOUGH I FEEL LIKE IT'S TOO MUCH TO ASK, I STILL SENT THEM JUST TO GET THROUGH IT. WEEK AFTER I RECEIVED THE SAME GENERIC LETTER ASKING FOR MORE. LIKE WTF! I HAVE UPDATED MY LAST NAME WITH TD, CAP ONE, RBC AND SCOTIA WITH ZERO ISSUES. THEY JUST LOOKED AT MY DRIVER'S LICENSE, UPDATED THE SYSTEM AND SENT ME A NEW CARD WITH MY UPDATED NAME ON IT. CANADIAN TIRE IS RIDICULOUS! (ASIDE FROM HIGH INTEREST). I AM SO DISAPPOINTED WITH THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE. THE GIRL WHO I FIRST TALKED TO IS INEFFICIENT, ONE SIMPLE TASK AND IT'S TAKING HER FOREVER. IF FOR THIS SIMPLE REQUEST THEY CANT BE EFFICIENT, WHAT MORE ON BIGGER STUFF. POOR.

Thank you Roxanne!

I recently called CT bank for some assistance where I was almost immediately transferred to a sales rep named Roxanne from Ontario. She was extremely kind and helpful and her customer service was extremely professional. I would be more than pleased to have Roxanne assist me again in my financial future and I would recommend her boss and supervisor giving her a kudos and the recognition she deserves. When it comes to banking especially online it has proven to be difficult for most. When dealing with someone like Roxanne, the process was extremely easy and enjoyable. This is how banking and customer service should be. She truly is the difference that has given me the confidence in CT bank and that will keep me as their customer! I hope there are more Roxanne’s in this world! Thank you Roxanne<3

I stopped using their card

I stopped using their card. And after some time for a tax reasons I wanted to access my statements. Turns out I have to pay now $3 for each month for them to be emailed to me, because they closed an account and now I can't access them online as I used to be. Customer friendly company would at least warn me to download all my statements before locking me out.

I wouldn't recommend this company

I wouldn't recommend this company. The website is terrible. It's confusing and you have to figure out what everything means every time you look at the online statement. It seems to always have technical issues, whether from logging in or using the site.

As for purchases, I regularly have to use another card for online purchases because they get rejected regularly when purchasing from big box companies.

The customer support is 50/50. Maybe worse, but I am trying to be nice. Sometimes they are good, helpful, nice. The rest of the time they talk to you like you are absolute garbage and they treat you like they think you're an idiot, a hassle, or an inconvenience.

This company is a complete waste of time and if I could give it a negative rating, I would give it a -10.

I wouldn't wish this company and their services on my mortal enemies.

I’ve had my card since 2018 and it’s a great card I do love the points . I’ve rarely ever encountered rude customer reps every one seems to be super helpful. The card is amazing I also have capital one but I do love using the triangle card for points.

Manque de respect

Je peux malheureusement pas mettre 0 étoile.
Aucun respect de la superviseur qui me tutoie et m'appelle par mon prénom.
Compte bloqué pour aucune raison valable alors que le solde est a 0$ depuis plus de 5 mois. Aucune communication de leur part et ont ce fait envoyer c h i e r parce qu'ils sont pas content qu'ont leur tienne têtes

Incompetent credit team

I have been declined their credit card a few times. Till this day, they could not tell me why. I have excellent credit score and get offer for pre-approved credit card every few weeks. Lots of assets and no debt. Always pay on time. Today, I tried again and got declined again. Reason given: could not sync with Transunion. Transunion tells me the issue is with Canadian Tire bank. At least now I now the reason is that Canadian Tire credit team is incompetent.

Increasing interest rates without reason

Without missing any payments or using my credit card in a year, they increased my interest rate by 5%. When called for a reason was just transferred to different people. When asked to speak to anyone to dispute this increase, I was told that the department who makes these decisions doesn’t speak to customers.

In the end with growing my credit score they punished me for increasing interest rates.

Don't Apply!

I applied for a credit card and I got an email saying I was approved. It said I needed to go to local store to confirm my identity, which I did.

A month later nothing. I call and they said now I was not approved even though I got confirmation I was approved. WHAT A WASTE OF TIME!!!!

I would give CTFS a -5 stars (as in polar opposite of +5 stars) if I could. Susan was snarky and sarcastic when I phoned in today to close both of my credit card accounts with limits totalling $14,000. This company chose to raise the APR to what should be an illegal (and unethical) 28.99% interest rate. Do the math folks. That’s over $4,000 in annual interest at max credit utilization. They want that. Susan had the nerve to ask why I was closing it at which point I told her not only was I closing the accounts but no longer choosing to spend any of my hard-earned money at any Triangle store. Susan didn’t like that and got snarky when I told her that the new interest rate told me everything I needed to know about their corporation. So I delightfully told her that Greg Hicks will make her annual salary by January 2nd. Susan sarcastically said I was funny then hung up on me. The laugh is on her, because she obviously hasn’t checked Greg Hicks annual salary. Susan needs to wake up and realize she works for an unethical company. And to top it off, my wait was over 10 minutes, which indicates the criminally high interest payments people are paying is not being used to improve efficiency and effectiveness. Poorly operated corporation with substandard products basically ripping people off of their hard-earned money so that fat cats like Greg can do nothing but take that money away from you having not done a damn thing. If they offer you a card in store, say “not only no, but hell no.” In fact, don’t even give these bastards the time of day and don’t shop in their stores. It’s time us hardworking folks quit padding their bank accounts. We have spending power, and there are plenty of ethical companies out there who you can support. If you follow my advice, you’re welcome.

Being ill and how Canadian tire financial attack a disabled person

To anyone, and I mean all. I had two major heart attacks that put me in the ICU for 50-plus days.

In hopes and care of my credit, I reached out to them, trying to explain the challenges I would be facing.

I was in and out of the hospital for weeks at a time, or limited to bed rest. I tried to communicate this out, and without a care and offered zero communication on how we could work this out moving forward.

Without care or concern, It was in its collections on a call once I returned from being hospitalized.

Now, let's talk about who Canadian Tire hired for collection. I explained my situation to them and tried to make payments to ensure the monies owed would be returned,

Unless I pay all we don't care what your health issues are, nor accept a payment plan. The rush was so bad to serve me they sent the statement of claims to the wrong home. Within 45 days, it went to small claims.

This is how the collection agent represented his first words in small claims ." I don't know much about this case, other than he had a heart attack." What a class act this wanna be lawyer was who represented CANADIAN TIRE.

The snowball of this act took away any kind of sympathy from all other creditors. The best part will be karma to those who act and talk rudely and do not care. Don't use Canadian Tire in fear that anyone's health can go and understand being ill and having credit is a time of need, CANADIAN TIRE just doesn't care its all about MONEY
