Don't book with this website or company.

They claim that you can do full refund if you cancel 72 hours prior to travel.

I tried contacting them 2 months ahead, emailed around 10 times within the span of 2 months, tried calling all the numbers on the website and "not listed/not in use".

Money down the drain... a bunch of crooks!!!! Karma will get what you deserve.

Booked a car through these scammers. Because of Coronavirus I was unable to travel to Florida so did not need the vehicle. The car was booked with AdVantage Car Rental. Contacted them and explained the situation and they confirmed that I could cancel without any penalty, but would have to reclaim my money from Compareautorental.com. I spent 2 weeks trying to contact them via telephone/email/Facebook messenger to no avail. Stay clear, you have been warned.

STAY AWAY. I booked a car for 27/12/19 MCO. with free cancellation to 48 pre hire date. Cancelled 72 hours pre hire through medical emergency, NO REFUND AS OF 29 DAYS. All telephone numbers for multiple countries are un answered, no person to contact for refund, Please take my word, and pay a little more to use a direct company or a reputable car hire company. I'd prefer to give zero stars. Either this company has changed hands and gone from a company with all 5 star reviews (all pre-2019) or as someone suggested earlier all the good reviews are made up.....this is what I think as there are only replies to the fictitious five star reviews.
I had the worst experience ever in hiring a car through auto rentals with whom I only took out basic insurance cover that was supposed to be included as I always arrange my own Annual worldwide comprehensive car hire insurance through Questor. When I arrived at Tel Aviv I was told by Avis their was no basic insurance and I would have to pay for this. I tried contacting AutoRentals but there was no telephone number and no email provided with my confirmation. After arguing with Avis for nearly two hours I gave in and the cost of adding insurance was almost as much as I paid for the car. Avis were no better as they tried to palm me off with the smallest car and when I complained they gave me another bigger car which was dirty and the fuel guage only showed 3/4 full - they said this was because there was a fault with the guage but when I filled up I found this was a lie! On my return I managed to find a contact email address for AutoRentals but up to now they have not replied. I won't be holding my breath.

I recently rented through this company while visiting Ireland. The invoice I received said that all basic insurance etc was included and nothing extra would have to be paid on arrival. When I arrived the people at Avis said that this was not the case and was forced to pay an extra €240 for the basic insurance. I contacted them to try and resolve this, they only have an email portal on their site to contact them with. I received an email back a week later asking what the issue was, I explained, then they said they would check with their Avis representative about this. I haven't heard back from them since.

I have been in touch with Avis about this and, thankfully, they have been a bit more helpful, but they are still unable to refund me even though they said the mistake lies with compareautorentals.com.

Save yourself a lot of hassle and avoid booking with them.

I'll spare you my rant and simply say that these people are to be avoided at all costs. Repeat: DO NOT book with them.

Shame on Skyscanner.net for including them on their panel.

Recent reviews suggest that earlier ones may be fake. Just look at the pattern.

Best advice is to avoid this company. Uncontactable; no response to emails or telephone calls.
Specifically, they advertised car was for pick up at Schiphol Airport, not at remote site requiring shuttle bus transfer. I chose it because it was on airport, so finding myself waiting for a bus (30 mins) then 15 mins transfer, was entirely what I did not want or purchase.
The actual car rental company were good. This online broker , on the other hand, is not. Lesson learnt: use a reputable broker or go direct to the car rental desk in the airport.

Beware the small print!

When collecting the car, suddenly found that there where a whole bunch of additional charges from the rental company, all disclaimed by the booking site in the depths of the terms and conditions. Clearly the prices being advertised and confirmed are false and misleading. Will make sure to avoid them in the future.

This is a complete SCAM this company make you pay and half of what you paid is their profit and the car rental only recognize 45 percent of what you paid. We rent a car with this company and they charge us 257 dollars when we arrive into dublin Ireland thrifty rent a car only recognize 120 dollars of the money I paid and told us that this online rental service is a scam and we always need to book directly with the rental agency. This company is a huge scam to all the people that use their service they will email you and tel you that if you have problems to contact them but they never answer my emails when I ask them why I have to pay again in Ireland 420 dollars on top of what I did pay online Thrifty explain that no one can sell insurance for cars online this company compareautorentals.com make you believe you are just paying 11 euros per day including the super insurance and is a lie thrifty will charge you again 26 euros a day so you will end up paying 37 dollars a day in insurance on top of what the cost of the car is Is just a scam I will review this company everywhere because they took from me 140 dollars that the rental car company does not recognize.

We made a reservation and decided to cancel a few days later. After multiple phone calls and emails, we still have not heard back from them regarding our cancellation, even though it clearly states on their website that cancellation is free. The call centre has no escalation process and no contacts for anyone in head office. Extremely disappointed and frustrated with the lack of communication and accountability.

It was my fisrt time booking with this company and probably my last. The price was fairly good but now I am asking myself if it was really a good deal. Once I got to the Tampa airport, I was told by the agent that I had to pay for the rental. I mentionned that I had already paid with compareautorentals.com but she could not find it in the system. I called the 1-800 number to sort things out. My first attempt the call could not go through. Same thing for the second call I made. Finally by the 3rd time an agent answered and told me that he would reach the rental company and get it fixed and that I should receive a phone call shortly. That was at 7pm on Monday March 11th. Since it was approching 9 and my 15 month old was tired I went back and paid for the car again since I did not get a call back. On the Tuesday around 4pm i called back spoke to another agent and told here everything that happened. She seemed to be sorry and promised me a call back. We are now Thursday March 14th and it's 11 am and still no call back. I also sent an email yesterday and no reply. Im really tired of waiting and I am afraid that I may never see my money again ..

I made a mistake on the time of picking ùp the car I put a wrong time called 3 times to change because there is nothing online to modify reservation they told me give us your information took my info to modify nothing happened than I sent an email nothing happened I decided to cancel no answer called again than they told me it will be cancelled on their web site it says you can make reservation in 60 seconds but keep in mind if u have to cancel or modify you will wait for days it should be online no one has this much time to hassle with sample click online to change a reservation.

Fantastic customer service and easy website. I booked my car rental after looking at the different listings the website provided for my trip to London. I got a really low rate and then needed to confirm insurance requirements. I contacted them and they answered all my questions and pointed out the confirmation email had information I needed as well. I will use them again.

I have used compareautorentals twice. I don't normally do reviews but I feel they deserve a shoutout. I am the family vacation planner and I lucked into this website one day and within minutes had a reservation for a rental car at a great low rate. I had no issues even when our plans later changed and I had to cancel. No hassle at all. I cancelled and rebooked and at the same time checked out hotel rates and booked one too. Our vacation went super smooth and I intend to use them for all my car rentals and hotels too.

Honestly, I have never booked through a website before. I have always called around but I can't believe I wasted so much time. I booked my rental car through Compareautorentals.com. I got like 20 or more possible choices. They had great budget cars with the big companies and some smaller companies. I went small and had a wonderful experience. Everything was laid out in my confirmation email. The day of my rental I had it with me and everything flowed so easy.
