Car returned damaged—then delay, deflection and an appalling lack of concern
I entrusted this company with my BMW while travelling abroad with my two young children. What happened when we returned—and the treatment I have received since—has been utterly disgraceful.
After landing at night, my keys were simply handed back. Nobody disclosed that anything had happened to my car, produced an incident report, warned me that it might be unsafe or advised me to inspect it before driving away.
The front number plate had been completely detached and had somehow ended up inside the bonnet/front area. The vehicle was returned in a visibly shocking condition, raising serious concerns about how it had been driven or handled while supposedly in their care.
Despite this, they allowed a father with two young children to begin an approximately two-hour drive home to Plymouth without any warning. I unknowingly drove my children in a vehicle that may have sustained damage to its tyres, wheels, steering, suspension, alignment, underbody or mechanical components. Those risks cannot be ruled out until it has been professionally inspected.
A number plate does not simply detach itself without reason. This alone should have triggered an inspection, an incident report and immediate disclosure. Instead, the keys were handed over and we were apparently expected to drive away without noticing. This was not merely poor customer service; it showed a horrifying disregard for our safety.
I subsequently had to arrange for the number plate to be refitted myself so the car was road legal, paying £10 in cash. I have deliberately not washed the vehicle because doing so could destroy potential evidence before it is independently inspected and documented.
Their response has compounded the original incident. Rather than somebody immediately taking ownership of such a serious matter, I have been passed around, directed between different contacts, given reference numbers and told to wait several working days. I have repeatedly had to explain what happened while trying to establish who is responsible, who is handling my claim, whether CCTV and vehicle-custody records have been preserved, and how the inspection and repairs will be funded.
I have selected Boringdon Manor Garage, a reputable independent garage, to inspect the vehicle and provide a quotation. I have no trust in allowing the company responsible—or somebody chosen solely by them—to control the assessment. I reasonably require written confirmation that the inspection and necessary repairs will be paid for, and that an equivalent replacement vehicle will be provided at no cost while my BMW is unavailable. I need this car for my children, work and everyday life.
Any refund of the £137.94 parking charge is entirely separate from the cost of inspection, repairs, number-plate refitting, replacement transport, loss of use and any other resulting losses. Refunding a service that was plainly not delivered with reasonable care does not erase what happened or settle the wider matter.
The complete lack of transparency is staggering. Either somebody knew the car had sustained an impact or been handled in a way capable of tearing off its number plate and failed to report it, or their procedures are so inadequate that significant damage can occur without anybody noticing. Neither possibility is acceptable.
I paid this company to keep my vehicle secure. Instead, it was returned visibly damaged, without explanation or warning, and I was allowed to drive my two children home in it at night. Since then, I have encountered delay, deflection and an unacceptable runaround rather than immediate responsibility and resolution.
I strongly advise anybody considering using this service to photograph and video every part of their vehicle, record the mileage and fuel level, retain any tracking or dashcam evidence and inspect the vehicle fully before driving away. Based on my experience, you cannot assume that damage or a potential safety issue will be disclosed.
This review reflects my experience so far. I will update it with the independent inspection findings and an accurate account of whether the companies involved finally accept responsibility and resolve this properly.
Brilliant service!
Brilliant service!
Reasonably priced, took us to the airport immediately after arriving at the car park and such friendly staff!
We will 1000% use again! Thank you.
Do not trust this Company with your car.
My car was not delivered to me after my flight. I was driven to it “so to save the exit car park charges” on arrival 2 miles away. Found my car parked on a deserted unclassified road with around 10 other cars. Handed my keyless remote. My driver then disappeared. Unable to enter or start car, keyless system not working. (Perfectly fine when collected before my flight) Had to use the emergency entry system with the key and start the car. On checking my speedo having recorded my mileage on arrival at Bristol AirPort noted that it had an additional 26 miles on it?. My bigger concern was the lack of security. The promise made by the company is that my car would be parked in a secure fenced Compound with CCTV and security Lightning with no public access. Staff in jackets with Co Logo. All of this was untrue. I have complained without an adequate response and asked for the Return of my costs. I have been offered a 20% refund of my charges as a ‘guesture of good will? I advised A1 Parking, 3 weeks ago that this was not good enough And would take them to the Small Claims Court. As I have heard nothing I have now started proceedings. I would advise anyone to stay well clear of this company. You really have no idea where they dump your car.
I’d give one star if I could
I’d give one star if I could.
Terrible AVOID THIS PARKING!
They charged me a £20 late fee even though I wasn’t late.
Car is covered in dust when picked up and my car was moved without my consent.
Park & Ride Bristol
I chose this parking service because it advertised short transfer waiting times. Unfortunately, my experience was the exact opposite.
Finding the parking was stressful. The postcode took me to a pub in a rural area rather than to the parking facility. After calling, I was sent the location via WhatsApp, but once I loaded it into my sat nav there was no O2 mobile signal. The entrance is from an unnamed, narrow and bumpy country lane with no sign from the main road, making it extremely difficult to find. The road is so narrow that cars have to reverse to allow oncoming traffic to pass. I ended up taking a random turning and only found the correct road after another driver confirmed I was heading in the right direction. Once my sat nav eventually reconnected using the location sent by the staff on WhatsApp, it still showed another 9 minutes to go, while I happened to notice the entrance gates on my left by pure chance. I arrived in daylight, and if I struggled to find it then, I can only imagine how stressful it would be for someone arriving there for the first time at night.
The biggest disappointment was the transfer service. I waited around 45 minutes for the shuttle to the airport and another 45 minutes after returning to Bristol. The long waiting times completely defeated the reason I had chosen this company over cheaper alternatives.
As advertised, there was an additional £17 Bristol Airport parking zone charge. I was also offered the option of a member of staff driving my own vehicle to the airport, which I declined because I was not comfortable with someone else driving my car.
My car appeared to have been parked in an open grass field. When it was returned, the wheels were covered in dirt and the bonnet was noticeably dusty, which was disappointing.
The staff told me I had plenty of time before my flight and even mentioned another passenger who had only 45 minutes until departure, which I found worrying rather than reassuring.
Based on my experience, I would not use this service again. If reliable transfers, clear directions and a stress-free start and finish to your journey are important to you, I would strongly recommend choosing another provider.
I wasn’t informed that I’d have to call…
I wasn’t informed that I’d have to call a mobile number 1/2 hour before arriving at the airport as well as having to pay a further £6 drop off fee
I’ve cancelled my booking and am waiting for a refund
Utter Chaos
Honestly a wierdly operated company. Drop off was smooth but pick up was a utter disaster. They wouldn't pick up the phone and left us waiting for an hour before we finally spoke to someone (this was at 3am with two young children) . When I got back to my car they had damanged my alloy. There were so many people dropping off and collecting cars with one person on the desk. They knew what to expect so why only one person. Utter chaos! Record your miliage and take photos of your car if you use them. I won't recommend or use them again
Terrible experience..
Terrible experience..
Waited 90mins to collect my car off me and on my return over two hours waiting..
Their customer service staff are rude and abrupt..
AVOID them.. they are no good
Awful
Awful! You advertise one price, then when it's booked, inform your customers there's a £20 fee for each of us on top! Disgusting!
If I could give zero stars...
If I could give zero stars for professionalism, organisation, and communication, I would.
We followed the instructions, called well in advance, and went to the postcode they provided. We waited there for 30 minutes and repeatedly called the only contact number given before someone finally answered and told us how long the driver would be.
A local farmer then informed us that we were in the wrong place and redirected us to the correct location—literally 30 seconds away. When we arrived, the staff were extremely unhelpful, accepted no responsibility for providing an inaccurate postcode, blamed us for being late, and then had the audacity to ask us for a good review.
When the driver eventually arrived, he announced that he was taking a break, despite knowing we had a flight to catch. The staff at the desk offered no help and simply looked at us as though we were being unreasonable. If customers arrive on time using the postcode provided and cannot get through on the only phone number supplied, what exactly are they supposed to do?
The driver did eventually take us to the airport and the initial misunderstanding was resolved.
Unfortunately, the return journey was just as poorly organised. I messaged in advance to let them know we had landed but received no response. I then called while we were going through border control, again, no response. When I eventually got through, I was told the wait would be around 45 minutes, which was fine because we were still queuing and had not collected our luggage.
Once outside, I called for an update and received no answer. When I finally got through, I was placed on hold for five minutes and then, on another call, for 12 minutes. My partner called separately and was told the driver would arrive within three minutes.
If you value organisation, communication, or professionalism, I strongly suggest paying a little extra and booking elsewhere. I would not recommend this company.
The only positive is that we returned to find our car in one piece, which is the sole reason I am giving one star.
AVOID! Slow pick-up, disappointing service, minimal saving, and a filthy car.
AVOID! 🚨
My husband booked our airport parking through Compare Airport Parkings and unfortunately, it turned into quite a frustrating experience. Parking was provided by GAPS Park ’n Ride (gapsparknride / 02035765376), and their pick-up service was painfully slow. It took so long to get picked up after we called them, we genuinely considered walking back to the car ourselves. We could have been home by the time we picked our car!
The saving compared with Gatwick’s long-stay parking was minimal, and barely more than getting a minicab or Uber both ways.
When we finally got to the car it was absolutely covered in dust looking like it had just returned from a desert rally.
Lesson learned! Next time, we’ll pay a little more and use Gatwick’s long-stay parking or another reputable option.
Would definitely NOT use this service again and would advise others to think twice before booking.
Terrible experience with this car park
Terrible experience with this car park, when i got my car back both the driver seat, passenger seat and steering wheel had been moved, by boot parcel shelf was also open which i had definitely left closed. Very disconcerting.

One of the worst experiences I have…
One of the worst experiences I have ever had. They are not legitimate and completely unrelated to the airport parking. I was told i needed to pay more money on site. A random person comes to collect your car. They wont provide any identification or tell you where your car goes. They give you a random phone number to call and thats all the information you will get about the company. Do not book with them. I felt like they were trying to scam me or worse!
Offering Parking at Illegal sites
Booked their “Recommended” site, found out afterwards it is an illegal parking site widely reported in the news for being an illegal parking site and damaging cars.
You can find bbc articles on the car park by searching for new farm Stansted illegal parking.
SCAMMED US!!
SCAMMED US!!! TOOK OUR MONEY AND NOT AN AIRPORT PARKING! Called and they answered and gave us a different postcode! Turned up and no parking and missed our flight
Avoid this company at all costs
Avoid this company at all costs. They charged us a late fee even though we were not late. When challenged they threatened to withhold our car keys from us at 11:30pm. Had to pay additional fees to enter the airport which wasn’t made clear before booking either. Will never park here again
Avoid them! (and Mayfair Parking)
Contacted them as Mayfair Parking have ignored my report of damage. No point as they have not responded either. Avoid!
