I’m honestly not sure what happens here. They have an important job but they’re the most disorganised company. I paid for my company to be registered and paid for special delivery so it could be signed for etc. They lost it. It’s in their building but they lost it. They take weeks to respond (if they respond at all) and owe money for the registration fee and special delivery. It’s been several months. If I could give less than one star I would. I’m still waiting.

Serious Concerns about the information being recorded by this establishment, to the point it is NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE.
I checked this website for information on a company I intended to employ for work at my house. I needed to check that they held Public Liability Insurance before I even considered employing them.
Companies House stated there was a Public Liability Insurance held, so I went ahead and employed them.
When things went wrong - guess what - NO Public Liaiity Insurance is held, and when I asked why the hell their site had stated it was held, I was informed they just added whatever information the company had sent them!!
So, just lie through your teeth, commit fraud, and get away with it all, thanks to the aid of this really "useful" website - well, useful for criminals anyway.
Seriously, what is the point of recording information that you haven't bothered to check???
This company is not fit for purpose, and probably commiting an offence itself by publishing incorrect data which members of the public rely on.
Utterly Useless to anyone other than a criminal.

Disproportionate penalty for late filing by a matter of hours. Their communication structure seems designed to maximise chances of late filing/revenue from penalties rather than provide timely reminders. Of course poor reviews mean nothing as their de facto monopoly position means absolutely no reason for them to improve

One of the most disorganised rip offs ever established. Submitted original documents by Signed for post but they nit pick so returned documents by 1st class post which apparently they never received ??? Funny how 1st Class Royal Mail never arrives. Next I am being fined penalty of £750 per month for delays caused by them. What do they actually do for Companies - nothing as we had a bogus company use our address which means they cannot be bothered to do due diligence check. So next received a letter for fines saying we have 14 days to pay yet letter took four days to arrive with threat that if i dont pay they will send their thugs under guise of debt collectors. Since we all pay HMRC why do we actually need this as well. Problem is we cannot do anything as they are protected and can do as they please even penalise us for their disorganisation. Advise always sent Documents by Signed For post when dealing with them. They are good at threatening and taking swift action too almost like they want to destroy small businesses instead of helping them.

Company used my address as their head office, obviously worried about fraud and problems down the line with letters or worse coming to my house. Companies House couldn’t be more useless, they registered my address to the fraudulent company with no checks to ensure this was in fact the correct address or a false one. Simple check Companies House, send a letter to the address the application is for and get a response to confirm that this is the correct address before registering it and causing problems for a homeowner! Once Companies House have registered the company guess who has to jump through hoops and bang their head against a wall in attempting to rectify the problem? Yep the home owner who had nothing to do with the application or registration.

Utter tripe. Awful service, awful attitude.

Information not verified. Wont investigate any fraud and only want to palm you off.

Like lots of other people I have found out that some supposed foreigner had managed to register a fake business at my address and has also listed his self as a director also at my address
I am having to jump through hoops to get his details removed from my address I am not very computer savvy so I have had to get help from the citizens advice to fill in all the forms and send copies of my utility bills etc that companies House required to prove my innocence
I am a pensioner and have found this very distressing but have received no help whatsoever from companies House in fact I have been made to feel like the offender not the victim
Obviously companies House allow anyone to register a business without any checks whatsoever but I am having to prove my innocence it's about time this set up was closed down as they are certainly not fit for the purpose how the government allow this to happen is beyond me

My son runs a small theatre company-producing shows for children which always receive 4 and 5 star reviews.

Last month, totally out of the blue, he found his business accounts suspended by Santander. Equally as unsympathetic.

Companies House has unilaterally stuck his company off. No prior written notification nor reason was given. The shock caused great stress.

After investigation we discovered that my son's accountant had passed on his work to another accountant. A particular piece of paper was not provided to Companies House so they struck off the company.

My son had to take out substantial loans in order to pay his actors and keep the shows going. Santander refused him access to his account and he was unable to receive payment from theatres.

My son completed new forms-paid £140 and was told the documents were received and would take 10 days to process and re-instate his company.

This morning on phoning for progress he was informed that the documents had a wrong date on them and had been send back to him by second class mail.

Today we paid a further £140 to re-submit the documents-my son must wait a further 10 days-take out even more loans to pay actors to keep the shows on the road.

You could not imagine in any industry such levels of incompetence. Years ago Companies House was accessible and efficient.Notification of changes given.

It's difficult to know whether it's incompetence or fraudulent behaviour at Companies House but they ignoring objections and are allowing companies with huge debts to dissolve voluntarily without going into liquidation.

This enables companies to take money for jobs and then instead of doing the work simply dissolve the company and keep the money.

Aija was very professional, helpful and answered all my queries patiently, explaining in detail what everything meant and what I should expect - an absolute credit to the Company as Aija is the first person after 4 phone calls to guide me through technical difficulties for completing my annual statement for the first time - thank you Aija⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I recently discovered that my home address in the UK is being used by a Chinese National who is resident in China as both a Business Address for his Company and a correspondence address.
4youworld limited is the name of the fraudulent company using my address.
I first phoned companies house and was astounded to be informed that no check is made ,or evidence of address being used is required.
I was told I needed to complete forms online or paper based. I did this a few weeks ago without any proper response yet. I guess I'm going to be chasing my request to have my address removed from their site for some time judging by other people's experiences. Not Impressed!!!!
They really need to insist on proof of address when a Company registers itself. It's not Rocket Science.

Absolute bunch of tyrants…From Companies House, HMRC, Police the Government..they’re all thieves and criminals with suits on. Taken 3 weeks to remove my personal home address and still nothing. Each time you call they have no clue, phone is answered by retired tyrants working from home. How they’re allowed to use our data like this is absolutely disgusting then to be told they’re working 2 months behind. Wake up and look at other countries as an example UK should be ashamed of themselves this country is going down hill, no wonder they opted out of brexit because they don’t like to do business honestly other than rob hard working middle class citizens.

Possibly the worst organisation I have ever dealt with. Firstly, their nit-picking, bureaucracy, delays in processing and intransigence over my step-son's accounts meant a six week delay in submission, which they then fined him for!!! Now, I have been part of a team trying to set up a TimeBank charity company for the east of England. They have rejected the application because it contains the work Bank. Bank is a generic term that can be applied to food, bottles and time: not just financial services. Now we have missed our funding window. This government wants Britain's companies to be the best in Europe and yet we are forced to deal with this utterly incompetent organisation. Needs scrapping and replacing.

I recently had to contact Companies House to clarify some details which our bank was requiring for our small business acount. The website did not have the information I was looking for, so I resorted to the telephone. Given that queries for our bank (Barclays) via telephone, state a wait time in the queue of two HOURS or more, I was expecting the worst. 2 minutes later a helpful, pleasant lady took my question, confirmed that the information required by the bank was not present or required by C.H. A pleasant, and useful experience. Full marks to them

Companies house are allowing foreign criminals (as fraud is a crime they are criminals) to register their businesses to random uk households with no checks. My address has been used and I am getting a lot of hostility from companies house who are refusing to see this as identity theft (case has a crime reference number) and are making me fill in more forms than the criminal did, and provide proof of residency that criminal did not need to do, just to get my address off their register. My details have also been picked up by other similar sites and now my address is linked to this criminals business all over the internet so even if i do get my address off Companies House it may still be on other sites. I could have bailifs, creditors and criminals turn up at my door and Companies House don't care and really don't see any urgency in the situation. A serious review of Companies House policy is required as it is currently facilitating fraud and identidy theft.

They are very rude & don’t seem to want to help, all you get is “check out the website “ which is just as poor as the people who answer the phone.

Anyone can answer the phone and tell you to go online.

No consideration for the situation you’re up against.

Companies House had an excellent service for submitting accounts and confirmation statements and making changes to Ltd Co records. This year it was a nightmare. Instead of ten minutes to complete a confirmation statement and update the company address it took two hours + and the cost had increased from £15 to nearly £100. The reporting Co Sec or Director has to now set up his own account before anything can happen and then navigation is no longer easy but everything seems to be hidden. I had to put in the payment details and verify them twice and asked to confirm an obscure and unexplained commitment. I was then asked to sign up to services from private companies like Barclays which I know and a host of ones I have never heard of and therefore do not trust and it was difficult to refuse. Had I done so I should have been another £200 or so plus £15 a month out of pocket. I suppose CoHo earns a commission from all these companies.

As a disabled person I don’t understand a lot of the legal stuff so I used a middle man company to help me register my business name; they however registered the business as active and I thought I was just copyrighting the name for future use i had no intention of being an active business. They posted my details online for anyone to see and this scared me so much, they wouldnt help me close it or fix it they just kept saying i have to pay. I felt taken advantage of and had no idea what i got myself into. A quick call and an online form later, the government cancelled my company and this was amazing to hear, i was so scared that I didnt know what i got myself into and the lovely people at the company house allowed me to escape the nightmare i accidentally got into. Never use a midde man! Go straight to the government cause they are clearer and kinder and dont want to extort you for money. They worked fast and after a severe meltdown they eased my worry that I may end up in trouble. thank you so much, the gov does care, i was so scared as I dont understand legal terms, i thought everyone used a middle man to help but now I know better. I clearly had no idea what i was doing but the gov truly helped me resolve this within a couple of hours. Thank you

Webfiling is a joke.
I tried several times but I could never finish it, there was always an error message. I received also a few letters they are warned me about prosecution. REALLY?
Maybe the website should be in working condition and usable service is required before take anybody to the court and issue a penalty.
Eventually I phoned the Companies House. I had to wait nearly 30 minutes to be able to speak to an advisor. The lady was extremely helpful and told me how I can use eventually the service. It was a tricky workaround. Also every time if I wanted to log in I had to request a new password. I was typing the password every time correctly. I am not mental, I could remember the correct password and I could type the password correctly. However, the system never accepted the 2nd time. It is extremely frustrating and stressful. A year ago in 2021 it was a perfectly working and simple service. Why was it changed to something non-sence?
