Very happy and positive experience

Best accommodation hands down...
I found CODE through their strong presence on all social media platforms. The booking process was super straightforward, and I have to give a big shoutout to their support team. They were incredibly helpful, guiding me through options and providing a live demo of not just the room but the entire building and its amenities. They’re so flexible in meeting students’ needs, they did the live demo twice just because I wanted to and the kept a room on lock in terms of booking because I loved that room. Moreover, the events they host in the building are fantastic—not just fun parties but also valuable career sessions and more. CODE is more than just accommodation; it’s a lifestyle. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

DO NOT LIVE HERE...
I was living in code in Coventry for two years in which time, my shower would always get blocked, mold would grow on the ceilings. I complained multiple times nothing ever was resolved just a quick wipe over, never fixed the problem. The amount of money you have to pay is ridiculous for the studio, its £2500 upfront in July which you cant even move in until September... and a £400 deposit on top of that, then £2500 3 more times. There are way nicer studios for a cheaper price. They are also charging me £200 for a mattress which they are taking from my deposit even though when I moved in it was not a fresh mattress and a mattress lasts 6-7 years, I also have proof the mattress is not stained but they are claiming it is. They would not let me replace it myself. It has been an entire rip off. They charge £70 a month for electric which I pay that now to live in a 2 bed house... I would not recommend living here it will be a complete waste of your money and they will scam you.

We are truly sorry you did not enjoy your time with us, this is not what we want to hear and we always want to try to make things right if we have got anything wrong.
Hopefully I can help answer a few of your points.
Shower drains can get clogged with hair, and steam in showers can cause condensation - our on-site maintenance team are happy to clean drains and check bathroom ventilation as neither a big issue for us to resolve and happy to do so.
Our prices are without doubt one of the best value in Coventry and something we are very proud of and the damage deposit is a normal system used and returned if the flat is returned in a fair state.
I'm so sorry to hear you feel you have been mischarged for your mattress! This is absolutely not what we want, we check out hundreds of flats and sometimes human error can occur - please don't hesitate to get in touch if you feel we made a mistake - Lynn at welfare@codestudents.co.uk will personally look into this for you.
Finally with regards the electric - we are so sorry to hear you feel it was expensive. We have secured the very best business rates we can - we are transparent with the charges and each flat has it's own meter. Again, if you feel there has been any error we would look into this for you - we literally charge what is used.

Fantastic
My daughter goes to uni and lives in the CODE accommodation in Leicester!
From the moment we applied for her to live there they have been amazing!
I had a telephone conversation with a lovely lady called Wendy she was very helpful.
The staff are fabulous and are very helpful,
I know that she is safe and there are staff around to help if there are any problems with anything and that means a lot to me !

I do not recommend CODE. My daughter made a reservation for a room, she canceled the same reservation before the 7-day deadline, now CODE wants to keep the reservation money as a fee and does not want to refund it. Very disappointed with what they do to the students.

Code accommodation is brilliant
Code accommodation is brilliant, studio flats, large wardrobe, kitchen, shower, free onsite gym and payed laundry facilities. Security are always on site, they are very friendly along with the rest of the staff at Code, especially suzi, the lady who sorts the parcel service and the events team!!

Day 46. Still not received my deposit back. No sense of urgency or respect for communication or returning money that does not belong to them. Imagine if I were 46 days late on rent. Leaving another review because my emails are being ignored 😀

Firstly, I'm really sorry you have had to chase again for your damage deposit. This is not right and not how it should be - you are correct.
I have investigated this, and we have indeed failed and I can only apologize. It appears an amount was refunded but not the full amount which is totally our fault, and something we are investigating to make sure it doesn't happen again. We will email you directly to update you and can assure you this is being processed today.
Once again please accept our apologies - there is no excuses for getting it wrong, but hope we can make this right for you today.

Definitely avoid.
I would avoid this accommodation, simple as that.
Ever since moving in, nothing but red flags. Maintenance issues were never resolved on time and empty promises were made. Besides there was a lack of security and privacy since the CODE team would always enter my room without permission, even though I made it clear that they are not allowed in without my presence - which was made clear through countless emails, calls, and in person. Every time I was told they would not enter but it was never the case!
Having lived there through the whole academic year, the biggest issue was a gap in the window (this was the 7th floor) through which cold air would blow in all the time creating mould on the wall, but CODE never saw a problem with this, and even after countless 'next week' and 'it's on order' the window never got repaired - meaning a cold winter by the desk and more mould to breathe in.
All in all, the experience was awful, communication was unclear between the staff, empty promises and extremely unprofessional. And even though the room was in a bad and dirty state when I moved in, I took pictures, made sure the staff knew that the room was rough and dirty, nothing was ever done, and now that it's time to return my deposit, they are unrightfully taking money away for something that was already there, and which was photographed by myself last year. Up to this day, they still have not returned my deposit, even though I've moved out almost 2 months ago!! Overall, countless emails later, CODE offers no compensation for the mould in my room or the lack of a faultless window (floor 7 hazard)!
Just avoid.

Great facilities and issues sorted!
My son has stayed and enjoyed the facilities at Code, Western Road for the past year. His room although dated was clean and spacious, the kitchen was acceptable but contained an old oven with worn out symbols on the knob and didn't work when he first moved in, after a short time this was repaired. The common room was a major asset and up to this point he hasn't had much to complain about. The only fly in the ointment was a problem with the washing machines in the on-site laundry. His clothes come out stained, dirty and smelly. When my son complained he was told "you use our machines at your own risk". I was rather upset at their initial response, however, since then the staff have been very understanding and helpful. So I have put this down to catching someone on a bad day. Thank you Code for the recompense and your professionalism.

We sincerely apologise for the issues your son encountered with our on-site laundrette, and we understand your frustration, maintaining clean and functional amenities is a priority for us.
Unfortunately, the laundry system is provided and serviced by an external company who are responsible for the condition of the washing machines and to ensure they are thoroughly cleaned and maintained. We will be raising your concerns with this company directly to ensure they provide the adequate levels of service we expect of them.

what do capping the electricity at £10…
what do capping the electricity at £10 means? I am none of the accommodations in the whole coventry as for electricity. Also, it took 4/5 months to get my mattress change. The staff is unprofessional.

Thank you for sharing your feedback, we can see that you have stayed with us for 2 years and have rebooked your room for the next academic year too.
Regarding the electricity allowance, due to the current climate we have had to adjust energy allowances to tenants to fall in line with the current market rates. The utility team will send you regular updates on your usage so you have complete transparency on your energy usage. We are actively working to improve our communication to ensure our residents have a clear understanding. Our accommodation is competitively priced and allows students to make the decision on if they would like to manage bills themselves or have this hassle taken away. Other providers may have increased rent to accommodate for the energy costs.
From looking at your account it appears that you had disputed the charges related to your tenancy and our team had chased you for bank details to be able to process the deposit return which took around 3 months to get a response to us. We encourage students to regularly check their emails to ensure if there is anything the team requires that we can resolve any potential issues quickly.
We take your comments about staff professionalism seriously, and we would appreciate more details to investigate and address the specific issues you've encountered. I am so dissatisfied and don’t recommend
For student accommodation, the prices are disgusting. I understand the cost of living crisis has affected cost, but honestly, they are overpricing the rent and using the cost of living as an excuse!
The electricity prices are incredibly high for STUDENTS to the point the students living here are scared to use the electricity and they are even saying they are “treating” themselves for basic things like a hot shower or heating in this cold weather, which is so wrong! The fact students are having to do this shows how overpriced the electricity is! Also, the standing charge alone without the unit charge is £0.77p per day (around £25 a month), which is over the price of the electric cap, so something dodgy is happening here.
They can use the cost of living as an excuse, but I’m not buying it because other private student accommodations in the area at the same standard as CODE haven’t changed their prices in rent or electricity, so I don’t understand how Code has increased it and increased it by a lot.
Plus, they do not tell students the prices of the electricity until one month after they have moved in, so students cannot plan financially; negatively impacting the students, especially those who cannot work and only depend on a small amount of student finance to pay bills on top of other charges such as food to survive.
No student should worry about basic needs like having a hot shower or turning on the heating when it's -2 degrees or fear if they can even afford the electricity and rent on top of living away from family, doing a degree and just trying to survive!
