DO NOT insure with this company
DO NOT insure with this company. They are practically fraudsters. They are inefficient, rude and uncommunicative.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS
HORRIBLE
We had a travel insurance for our holidays. As we were considering to cancel them due to the coronavirus outbreak we phoned the insurance to ask for advice. The first 2 phone calls (and having to explain our situation to 4 different people) they hung up without even saying bye. After talking to 6 members of the staff and insisting (they had been refusing to even consider my case) on the third or fourth call within 30 min one member of the staff suddenly changed their mind and said they will consider it if we claim. How is this fair on people that don't insist like us? Having said this every single one showed no sympathy and were simply unfriendly and rude! NEVER AGAIN!

Took out an insurance policy for my car. They cancelled my policy without telling me, only found out it was cancelled when I called to find out the date my direct debit was due to go out. 12 day uninsured and uninformed. Terrible service, quick to take your deposit and then cancel your policy without any notification. They will be hearing from my solicitor
Co-op home rescue: appalling service
I have Co-op home rescue plus insurance. I had a fault with my (electric) hot water tank and thus no hot water. My flat was all electric, I said this and yet the first person to come fix the issue was from a gas company and couldn't do anything except diagnose it. Next they sent an electrician who said he could fix it but he wasn't insured for the job. Next they sent a plumber who was confused about why he was there to fix an electrical problem. Next I spoke to manager who promised the next person to come out would qualified to do the job - and yet they sent the same gas person who originally came! Everyone who came agreed on what the problem was and said it was simple to fix, and yet somehow nobody was qualified to. Throughout this whole process not once did co-op ring me, I had to spend about 40 minutes a day on hold and then explaining my case to a new person every time I got through. Occasionally they would ask me to explain the electrical fault, as this was 'quicker than reading my file', as if I was a qualified electrician. Eventually I gave up and called up an external electrical company who came and fixed my problem within 20 minutes, and got reimbursed by co-op after submitting an official complaint.
Very happy
Very happy. I had my bank account blocked due to some fraud and failed to make my monthly payments. I phoned up and spoke to them and they were very understanding and cancelled the late payment fee, they then tried to take the £20 fee from my account again, but then cancelled the fee and refunded my fees from an un arranged over draft. Very happy with them. They will help if they know whats going on.

On the day of the storm Ciara it caused tiles to move on my roof and water coming through and leaking into electrical lighting in a childs bedroom. I had to wait over a week for someone to call with 12 hours notice to do a report on the damage, as it was short notice i mentioned i had plans so could not be in the house to show him the damage in the loft, he said he had a pole with a camera and did not need me to be there! His report was that they should not pay out due to the probability that my roof tiles were old and contributed to the damage!!! I am fuming, still have a leaking roof and when i rang to say i would be leaving them, no questions as to why, clearly not a very good company, stay away is my advise.
Absolute joke of an insurance company
Absolute joke of an insurance company. Kept cancelling my policy and in the end they required me to pay to reinstall a faulty factory fitted radio instead of my replacement unit which was classed as a modification. Offered to pay extra but they just cancelled it anyway Would not recommend at all. Doubt if most young drivers are actually insured At all . Avoid avoid avoid.

After being with co-op insurance for over 10 years with no claims I was shocked to find that was annual insurance premium had gone up to just under £600. I found Same insurance with the AA for £300. I phoned to cancel my insurance, no questions asked why I was leaving, if they could match quote or even a thank you for being a loyal customer! Thanks co-op!
Disgraceful company
Disgraceful company, had a third party hit my car, co-op decided to pay them out without even telling me (even though it was his fault) and I only found out when my renewal quote had zero years no claims instead of 12. Completely unacceptable.
I only started my policy 2 days a go…
I only started my policy 2 days a go and I've had 3 Bank alerts saying £78.22 has come out my bank 3 times with in the 2 days so I phoned my bank up and they said its co op insurance that have taken my one of payment 3 times so I phone Co op insurance up and they are claming it's not them that is taking the money I'm just wondering has this happened to any one else out there.
Avoid
Having received an annual renewal quote I was alarmed to discover that my payments were extortionately high. Upon looking into the matter, it turns out that CO Op Eco insurance have left a claim, which we considered closed, open since January 2018. This claim was as a result of another driver hitting us side on after they pulled out from a junction. The other driver was considered at fault as they ignored a give way sign; however, it transpires that Co-Op have marked this claim as my fault. Judging by other reviews this is not an isolated incident. Look elsewhere.
My premiums rose from £465 to £645
My premiums rose from £465 to £645. I called them to discuss having already looked at MoneySupermarket.Com where I could get cover at £569 - that was based on doing 30,000 miles per annum, reduced from 36,000 but an additional 3 points on my licence. Coop said on that basis the premium would increase to over £800. I mentioned my Renault Clio was 4 1/2 years old but with 138,000 miles on the clock it was only worth £2000 - they said that was irrelevant and based on its age it was worth more, but in the event of a total loss loss I would be paid out based on the mileage. Also worth noting that I had a scrape during the last year that was not my fault and Coop have been attempting to get a Police report to confirm (albeit with protected no claim bonus would make no difference to my renewal quote). Coop have not managed to get the Police Report and last time I checked 10 weeks had lapsed and they had not even sent a chaser for the Poilce Report - in the meantime I am out of pocket to the tune of £250 excess until they resolve (if they ever do). Absolute bunch of amateurs.
Co Op is the worst car insurance of all time, managed by clowns.
I had hit a bollard on my rear right wheel arch, this caused my side air bags to deploy on that side. The car failed to start as a result and blocked part of a road. Co Op were unable to get someone to rescue me and I ended up using my own time and money to recover the car to my workplace. Nearly a week later Co Op are still dealing with the claim and no one has yet seen the car yet. Really hopeless customer service so far, which has taken 4 phone calls over 3 days, my car was left in a dangerous spot for over 12 hours causing a hazard to traffic. I cannot wish my worst enemy to experience the appaling customer service and response time from Co Op.
DO NOT insure with The Co-Op!
I had a catalytic converter stolen from my car. I was advised to get it confirmed by the AA, give that report to the police and get a crime number, advise my insurer, The Co Op. So that's what I did. When it got to The Co Op, I spoke to a rather belligerent individual who could not have been less helpful or sympathetic. Told me I should not have taken my car to my own dealer as they have their own repairers, that I would therefore not get a courtesy car, and that it would take longer to process the claim. This was on a Friday night, when I also learned that their offices are closed on the weekend!
Finally, after many phone calls, on the following Tuesday, I got The Co Op to agree to the repair of my car. In the meantime, I contacted one of their 'approved repairer networks' who told me their nearest approved repairer was about 30 miles away and that it would take about 2 days to get a loan car. As a disabled driver who was recovering from heart surgery, and relied on my car for everything, I was not impressed. They have now approved the repair, but not the cost of fitting a cat lock, as that is considered an improvement. So the low lives who stole my cat will have cost me: £350 excess, £220 Cat lock, plus whatever my insurance goes up to as a result of this claim. Having said that, I'll 100% NOT be renewing with The Co-Op, so I'll be able to negotiate with the new company.
The staff tell lies after lies even to as insurance
The staff tell more lies after lies they even told the AA insurance that they was settling payment but in fact they had no intensional to pay it
Disgusting customer service experience
Disgusting customer service experience. Would not recommend them for car insurance especially if you change vehicle mid term. Cancelled insurance then told me 8 days later.
Appalling
Appalling company if I’m honest, laid about me in the insurance database saying I was the driver and at fault for accident. Didn’t tell me either only found out with my new insurance company when my monthly payment went from £220 to £436 per month, they told me I had an accident in April 2017 when I told them it wasn’t me they asked me to contact co op to put the correct information on the database. I ring them they said they’d change it to the name of the correct driver as soon as I pay them the £5000 back that they paid out on settlement. It disgusting they made the mistake but the wrong information so not only do I have to keep paying £436 a month for my car to be insured which is around £5000 to be insured for the year but also have to find £5000 to pay co op before they actual but the correct information even though it was there mistake they put the wrong information and paid somebody out when they shouldn’t have but I’ve got to pay for there mistake twice over. These company she schemes money out of you wherever they can. They shouldn’t be insuring people to drove when they clearly scheme against and drain money out of you
Wouldn't even give 1*

2 weeks ago today I had a terrible accident on Xmas eve on the M4 motorway. Today my pay out has been finalised. Considering we have has Xmas and new years to slow the process down, I am extremely happy with the outcome.
From start to finish co-op have been absolutely amazing, contact me back when they say they will, well and truly exceeded their pay out deadline, staff a caring and friendly. I will continue my policy with them for their great customer service alone. I would highly highly recommend this company.

Since we have now reached 81 with over 40 years of clean driving and no claims, you can imagine our views when we find you have decided you will not give us a quote for car insurance.
We have in response decided we do not need you either. From the new year we will not shop or use anything trading under a co-op logo
