Canningvale was founded in 1977 by father and son, Giovanni and Frank Prainito. It was the 70’s and our founder Giovanni Prainito, an Italian refugee from Libya, had an association with a boutique terry towel mill in Bergamo, Italy. Following a fishing vacation to Perth in 1975, Giovanni decided to move some weaving looms and migrate to Australia. Within months, Giovanni’s eldest son, Frank joined his father in Australia. By 1981 the company moved operations to the fledgling industrial zone of Canning Vale and changed its name to Canningvale Weaving Mills. Now based in Richmond, Victoria, Canningvale is still a family-owned and operated business, focused on making luxury homewares in a sustainable way for Australian families. All products are guaranteed against manufacturing faults for 5 years from the receipt of purchase. Half a silk pillow case

So, Old Misery Guts is here again. Bought a pillow, gusseted. Seemed fairly good. The filling was quite soft, and comfortable....enter the silk pillow cases?! Unwrapped 'em, and to my horror, only one side was silk...WT?!...OK...so we fit the pillow case to the said pillow...uh huh...the STUFFING process had to be experienced to believe. The pillow case is 45cm across and 78cm? along...but it was so blasted tight, it made the fabric on the pillow become very crinkled, and uncomfortable to boot! I mean, y'know a pillow case is supposed to just pull on, so to speak, not have to STUFF it in like you fighting to get the cat in the cat carrier?! OK, so we email the dudes at Canningvale. "Dudess" gets back to me via email and says, words to the effect, "well, it your fault because on the website it fully explains what the pillow cases are made of"....so there?! It's my fault the pillow case only has one side of silk. The photos on the page show "only silk", and not the "whatever" the white fabric is. But here's the thing, the silk, when on the pillow fabric (that was badly crinkled) makes a dreadful grinding noise when you move the side of the face on it...are you kidding me?! So, we have ditched the $50 pillow, and gone back to my $16 BigW pillow, and my Kmart silk pillow-case...and "revelation" they fit perfectly. The crew provided a full refund. The owner of the show has his photo on a promo card they put in the box, and he's absolutely laughing. If we had the audio, it would be something like "Gotcha"?!

Our silk pillowcases are clearly described on the product page as having a 100% mulberry silk front and a 100% cotton reverse, with this information noted in both the description and product images.

Once you contacted us, we responded professionally and respectfully and organised a full refund.

While we understand that not every product will be the right fit for everyone, we always aim to resolve concerns fairly and kindly. We’re sorry the pillowcases didn’t meet your expectations and are pleased we could sort this quickly for you.

I ordered a set of sheets online but…

I ordered a set of sheets online but immediately recognised I ordered the wrong size and wanted to cancel. I tried to call, and sent several emails requesting to cancel my order before it was shipped

The next day I received a notification that my order had been shipped

I called and emailed to cancel further, the agent told me it was too late

I hopped on Australia post and found I could easily redirect back to the seller. I emailed back to them asking why this option wasn’t possible

Then and only then they said they would do this. But still no confirming refund.

The entire tech experience was subpar. Company appears to run on Zendesk, is usually not a great customer experience.

Disappointing supper tech and customer experience

I've just replied to your email but thank you again for sharing your feedback, we really appreciate you taking the time to explain your experience.

Just to clarify from our side, your cancellation request came through while our small team was offline over the weekend. By the time we were back online the next business day, the order had already been automatically processed and despatched by our warehouse, which leaves only a very small window to cancel.

As soon as we were online, our team requested a return to sender (which is our standard process when an order can’t be stopped in time) and your full refund was processed that same day as noted in Camilles emails to you. Nothing was delayed or overlooked, we actioned this as soon as we could.

We’re sorry the experience felt frustrating and appreciate the feedback. It’s certainly not the impression we aim to leave, and we’ll continue to review how we can make things clearer for customers in busy periods.

Towels and silk pillowcases

I placed my first order with Canningvale a week and a half ago and they arrived today. The towels are beautiful and thick, the 2 sets of silk pillowcases l purchased are lovely and silky, can’t wait to use them. My purchase came packaged with great care and arrived before Christmas, will definitely purchase again.

Reed Diffuser

I recently purchased three reed diffusers – Blood Orange & Grapefruit, Finger Lime & Coconut, and Vanilla Bean & Passionfruit – based on the glowing reviews on the website. While the 200ml size seemed like good value for money, the actual performance has been underwhelming.

The scent throw is extremely weak, even after adding extra reeds in an attempt to boost the fragrance. I expected a noticeable aroma in the room, but I have to be very close to the diffuser to smell anything at all.

The only positive is the aesthetic – the bottles are clean, minimalist, and look nice on a shelf. Unfortunately, that’s not enough to justify the purchase. Overall, these diffusers didn’t live up to the hype, and I’m left wondering how the reviews were so positive.

Honoured 100-day trial on mattress topper

I purchased a mattress topper from Canningvale and it was shipped promptly. It was good quality but after a couple of months, realised it wasn't right for me. They did honour the return as it was during the 100-day trial, and the process was simple and efficient. I would recommend shopping here.

Customer satisfaction is BRILLIANT

I bought an item that Aust Post unfortunately delivered to another address by photo provided where package was left.
Upon calling Customer Service the young lady had the issue in hand .. money was refunded immediately no dramas as I had already provided A.Post with report.

Good reliable Aussie company

Good reliable Aussie company. The Canningvale team does NOT have an excuse book (Covid is causing delays, Covid has reduced our capacity to supply etc) Canningvale is a 'can do' company. Canningvale is extra fast in the wrap and despatch department. Any chance of Canningvale conducting some workshops for all those companies full of excuses? I hope so.
