Our car was damaged
We stayed in the Royal Bath Hotel in Bournemouth for a week last year. Our car was valet parked and according to the website parked in a ‘secure safe underground car park’ None of that was true. Our car was left in a loading bay, not in a marked bay or a car park. It was in front of a skip that was in constant use, under a hole in a roof and it came back not only filthy but more importantly with a dent and scrape of paint on the door. It was a brand new car. We’ve also proved that our car was damage free when we arrived through Ring doorbell and dash cam footage.
I do not call this secure or safe in any way. The hotel deny any responsibility for the damage and will not pay for the repair. They say that there were no spaces in the car park but we weren’t made aware of this. Had we been we wouldn’t have left it there. We’ve been ignored and given the run around for months hence only posting now. Avoid at all costs.
Do not book with britannia hotels
I called Britannia hotels this morning to complain about a hotel that they had booked me into for this weekend for a business trip to women singularly in different rooms and one dog. They didn't want to listen to my complaint and said that they are only a booking service for the hotels. Is my complaint was quite serious I kept going with the person on the phone as I knew it was being recorded and I even said so. They fought me off with an email address and no one to speak to I am certainly distressed about the my experience at this hotel. Please see below what I have done as a review at the hotel. :
Rooms-The worst hygiene ever! Had to get a blanket from my car to go to sleep because the bed linen smelled like it had been used by somebody else even though it looked like the bed had been made up nice. Stains on the wall bedroom and bathroom was horrendous
the only good thing about the room was the shower worked and it was lovely the towels I didn't use I used my own because they had
mascara marks on them and other marks on that I just don't want to describe here! At the end of my stay I decided to strip the bed as I do at other hotels and discovered what I can only describe as just terribly disgusting it actually made me feel physically sick I discovered that the duvet had lots of blood stains on it and they looked quite fresh possibly the person the night before the pillows had other stains on them too also the under sheet / mattress topper had a brown
round stain on it.
Safety:
At 3:00 a.m. in the morning I heard what I can only describe as a really loud bang it sounded like either somebody had fallen onto the door or was trying the door it woke me and my dog up with a real shock so much so my dog barked really loudly and growled he has never ever done this and we've been to lots of hotels this hotel has made me feel very unsafe so much so that I will never be booking a Britannia Hotel ever again! I found Britannia group this morning and they just want to pass the book stay are only a booking system!
Food and drinks
There's a lovely restaurant across the road from the hotel which we really enjoyed. The breakfast at the hotel was average not much on offer really. We were told on booking that this hotel was dog friendly it was to a point the rooms yes dog friendly but when we went for breakfast we expected to be put in a
area where we could have the dog with us to have our breakfast this was not the case we were refused and even when we said could we sit out here in the hallway they refused that too and we kept going we booked a dog friendly hotel and they allowed us to sit in the
hallway the chef was really nice actually
once everything had been organized.
If you want a dog-friendly Hotel don't bother.
If you're a person on your own traveling for business don't book this
hotel their Wi-Fi doesn't work.
Britannia needs to look after their customers a lot better than they have done I would know doubt want to ask for my many back but this has been made really difficult.

I have just stayed for 3 night at the grand hotel sunderland, no replenishment of coffee, sugar ext or tiolet roll.
And when a family member stayed for 1 night the fun began, i had paid at the hotel for this room prior to the check in?, this i thought would be that!!! no for 2 days i was asked by 4 different staff to email proof of contactless payment. Phone calls at 7.30 am send email?. Why should i have to sort out there mistakes, i will not be using this hotel again.
Very very annoyed .
Got charged a fee
Got charged for an error through booking.com for the Hampstead hotel I spoke to the hotel to rearrange the dates but they refused and charged me for a night and cancelled the booking will never book again with them
Hotel is like faulty towers
Hotel is like faulty towers. No staff. we were directing people where to sit at meal time. Breakfast was inedible!! And it was dirty not one cleaner to be seen.
Do not waste your money yhis hotel should be closed!! Ot a new manager to manage

Overpriced likely because it was a six nations date but I wouldn’t never stay at the chain again . It was very expensive , staff were ambivalent, there was misinformation, poor decor and insufficient parking . When you alerted staff to misinformation re meals they were not interested . There was no manager on sight and the lobby area was cold.
Booking made through hotel website actually through a 2nd AND 3rd party agent
Booked a room directly with the hotel (or so I thought).
I needed to cancel my booking so I called them and was told that I had made the booking through Expedia and therefore they could not cancel it. I don't even have an Expedia account so how I made the booking with them was baffling...
So I had to create an account to chat with Expedia to use the chat function to find this Booking. Yes the booking was there but then I was told they couldn't cancel it either as it was actually made through HotelsOne????
The chat agent sent me the web URL to go to so I could get the details and luckily I was able to speak to someone to cancel it
I have never even heard of HotelsOne - how on earth did they have my booking when I made it directly through the Carrington House Hotel on the Britannia Hotels website?
Awful practice. BE AWARE
No response to an email enquiry
No response to an email enquiry. Decided not to bother them by Telephoning but thought it would be more helpful to them if I'd send an email. Still no reply after a week of waiting. Not very good PR is it?
Burns night at the Adamton Hotel
Burns night at the Adamton Hotel
We went on the trip to Adamton country house for Burns night. We were firstly surprised as the photo seen looks like a country house. There is but you only get to walk through it to get to the bar. Rooms and restaurant are modern additions.
The ‘Garden Room’ (restaurant) has all the appeal and atmosphere of a work canteen. Service is one person checking room numbers on entry and clearing tables. No one in service area, which was self service of very unappetising, cool food. The food was repetitive and often rehashed from the night before. Burns night we did have table cloths and themed centre pieces, which made the room feel nicer, but these were whipped off the table, as soon as we’d finished some before! Canteen back for the evening entertainment. I did ask to keep it but told I couldn’t because the manager had said. ☹️
On the plus side, the room was warm, in fact too warm. The bathroom was modern with very nice fittings and hot water. However others complained of cold room and cold water, so it might depend what side the corridor you were on.
Burns night itself: The traditional piping in the haggis and the poem and dagger were all there. Haggis tatties and neeps also. Slightly more atmosphere, until we got the canteen tables back. There was also an extra, different dessert, unfortunately not enough for everyone by the time I got there.

Britannia Hotel, Manchester
I had a good stay at Britannia Hotel, Manchester, an historic and impressive building, located in the centre of the city a short walk from Piccadilly rail station. My non-window room was comfortable, spacious and had a bath in the bathroom. Staff were helpful when I had to return to pick up my suitcase. Good value. No complaints
The Austin Ex-Apprentices Association…
The Austin Ex-Apprentices Association once again held their annual reunion dinner event at the Bromsgrove Hotel and Spa, which is part of the Elite Venue Selection. This, our 91st reunion was a total success, and in fact one of our most enjoyable events to date. The staff worked so hard and gave us "service with a smile" from start to finish. The dining experience was exemplary both in quality and service. Their senior staffs organising skills and advice, both prior, during and after the event was much appreciated, The excellent overnight accommodation and substantial breakfast rounded off a most memorable event. May I take this opportunity to say a BIG THANK YOU to all involved.
Great Value For Money at Britannia Newcastle Airport
Always stop here, leave the car and stroll over to the airport.
We have never had a problem when staying here, often helped by the lovely Becca on reception.
Nothing is too much trouble for the staff.
What people need to understand is that £105 for the 8 day fly and stay is excellent value for money.
Thank you
Tony & Kath Thornton
Tried to make a booking at the…Never again
Tried to make a booking at the Seacroft, Leeds hotel but found out that it’s being used for illegal immigrants!!!! So I therefore won’t ever use this hotel chain ever again!!!!! Appalling!!!!!
Two rooms signed off as checked, both had plumbing issues!
As far as I know, I have only ever knowingly stayed in one Britania Hotel in my life and that was on the 13th December 2025 at the Grand Burstin Hotel in Folkestone. Knowing the town very well, I knew it had a bad reputaion and one of my cousins stayed here for one night several years ago, and he didn't have a good experience. Anyway, I thought I would take a risk as it was for only one night and they do except dogs, although I paid £20 for my two to be in the room for only about 9 hours to sleep on the floor and they left no mess or didn't cause any damage.
I got back to the hotel late after meeting friends for Christmas celebrations, only to find that they was no water at all coming out of the hot water taps in my ensuite. I went down to reception to report this. An engineer came up to my room, but was unable to fix this, so I had to move rooms at 1.30 am in the morning. So I didn't get to bed until getting on for 2 am.
In the morning when taking a shower I found the mixer tap in the bath would not stay in the shower position, so I had to force it to do so by tying a platic bag around the lever.
I went to reception to report this and complain about this and the issue with no hot water, causng me to have to move rooms at 1.30 am, and wanting to receive compensation for my inconvenience and delayed sleep. I was told that complaints must be made in writing to the Customer Services email address.
I sent my compaint once I was back home. I received an apology, but the only compensation was a gesture of goodwill offer of an free upgrade to a balcony room if I should choose to stay with them again, but only if I booked directly with them, and not via Hotels or Booking, com, so I would probably pay a highher price. Also, they assume that after my bad experience, that I would want to stay with them again to benefit from a room upgrade.
Ten days ago I emailed back rejecting the offer and stated that I had expected a small reasonable refund of £15, and not a voucher or credit note. This request has been totally ignored.
There was also issues with the the parking, which you have to pay for. It took me ages to find one last parking space, which was arkward to get into. I read on previous reviews that guests paid for parking, left the car park, and when they returned, no spaces were available. Luckily when I parked, I didn't need to go anywhere until I checked out the following morning.
Apart from the issues with the plumbing in both of the rooms, both were actually nicely furnished and seemed to be clean, which I must admit was a pleasant surpise, especially considering the hotels poor reputation, so for that reason I have given them two stars. I did not try the all you can eat breakfast, because dogs are not allowed in the retaurant and must not be left in the bedrooms unattended, so I cannot rate the quality of the food. .
COLD HOTEL WITH NO HEATING
I booked a suite at the meon valley hotel & country club in october, the room was freezing cold so I asked at reception what at the problem was to be told the heating would not be switched on till later in the year.We were offered an extra blanket. My Wife and I slept in Our clothes to keep warm.the staff wore winter jackets using the sleeves as gloves and wooly hats.PLEASE,PLEASE CHECK BEFORE BOOKING THAT THE HOTEL WILL BE HEATED.Britannia Hotels have turned the hospitality sector back to the 18th century and wish I had checked the reviews before booking .
Booked online through there website and…
Booked online through there website and receptionist asked if we had a booking so I showed email confirmation stood there like a lemon till she eventually found it, sent to wrong floor as the suite wax 3rd floor, went for drinks at the bar and had to clean our own table from old food and drinks as the staff was minimal, not the best experience at Hollings Hall Shipley.
Awful and overpriced.
Among the worst hotel experiences I’ve endured in over 30 years of travel. The so-called “twin executive” room at the Manchester Britannia was dated and uninviting. The single-glazed window overlooking one of the busiest streets in the city centre wouldn’t close properly but neither would it open for ventilation. Check-in was more like military registration, with notices demanding photo ID (on pain of refusal of entry) that wasn’t mentioned in the booking confirmation. Re-entry at night was subject to showing the key card to a rude security guard. There was no room service and, far worse, not even the option of room cleaning. Most or some of this would have been excusable if I hadn’t been charged over £160 per night without breakfast. Never again.
I booked into room 105 at the Prince of…
I booked into room 105 at the Prince of wales southport.
The room was atrocious there was 3 wide cracks in the walls, 1 in the bathroom 2 in the bedroom that let cold air in. The bed was lumpy and the cover barely covered the bed.
The floor was uneven and the wardrobe was screwed to the wall to stop it falling over.
We had less than 2 hours sleep.
We complained to the reception the day after and all they offered was free parking.
When we complained via revolver they said the receptionist offered us different room when we booked in. A lie as we didnt inform them until the following day, then offered us 25% off any stay.
When we pointed out there error and lie refused refund of any type because we stay in the room overnight.
