I'm recently retired and for years have been using very complicated spreadsheets I created to estimate future performance, perform Monte Carlo scenarios, and do spend and tax planning. Maintaining them and trying to model different scenarios was a nightmare. That's how I ended up using Boldin after trying all the options. I've been using the paid version for 6 months now and think it's awesome. It took some time to get used to it but now I can quickly model different scenarios to improve the outcome. I've compared it my spreadsheet results and have full confidence in the Boldin product! Highly recommended for the DIYer.

Not sure I understand some of the reviews. I purchased Boldin access and yes it can be a bit time consuming to setup (it is fairly comprehensive, which makes entries more detailed), but WOW does it do a great job outlining your retirement plan! The team is adding new features which will make the app better over time, but even just the basics of understanding your retirement plan is well worth it for me. The added AI feature is great for answering questions, since some of what Boldin suggests requires more background. I am hoping the team adds expense tracking so I can connect my credit cards and replace other expense tracking apps, but I also realize that may increase the complexity of using Boldin - which is a mixed bag. I have tried other software, but overall found Boldin insights to be better. I understand they are adding an investment assessment and allocation feature, looking forward to that! Overall - it has been well worth the cost for me, and I have been using it for over 6 months. I feel much more confident of my retirement plans.

Boldin (formerly New Retirement) started quite a few years ago to help Baby Boomers get their financial house in order as they prepared for retirement. In doing so, they took a very comprehensive approach which has matured to the current software program they made available for free, annual license with loads of support and training as well as access to a variety of professionals. Have used the New Retirement and Boldin packages for some time and anticipate more new features in the future as the benefits of AI continue. Several other programs to consider that are in the space but if your needs are general, focused on ensuring you're taking care of the assets needed to take care of your retirement plans you probably won't do much better than to look at Boldin.

I tried the 14 day free review and simply cannot recommend it. I could not apply real world finances unless I purchased all the upgrades. While I did not do this, I suspect from their presets and drop-down menus how limited I would be in entering my real world data. For example, I receive profit sharing 1x a year but the system only accepts 401k contributions in monthly installments. This means the software is crediting me with 11 months of earnings I will never gain each year. Quite a misstatement of compounded interest. So I suppose it's no wonder my chance of success is 99%, and I'll die with over 12mm in the bank... I will continue shopping.

This retirement planning site has a very complicated layout. Worse, it auto-fills numbers, for example, social security info, and the numbers are wildly inaccurate, but because they're auto-filled, there's no way to correct them. My plan's monthly income was off by $600 a month, which really adds up over decades in retirement, ie, makes the numbers utterly useless. It makes nonsensical assumptions on things like when you'll pay off your mortgage (sure, I'd love to pay off my brand-new 30-year mortgage in seven years!), when you'll take Medicare (some people don't immediately take Medicare at 65, they work and stay on their employer's plan, how can you not know that?), etc. However, they generously offer a service to help you understand how the page works -- IF you pay $250 for it, and it's not even for a full hour, and not with a CFP. They do offer a free meeting, one to discuss programs -- but then you find out it's a group sales pitch for their $2800 advice session, not an individual meeting. It's been one disappointment after another.
