The buying process was fine. I bought the vehicle on 15th of February a fault appeared straight away with the boot randomly opening. This progressed into the boot not opening at all unless using the key. I informed Big Motoring World (Big Assist) straight away and the issue is still not fixed 5 months after. It has been diagnosed but communication between Big Assist and the garage is shockingly bad. Big Assist have not responded to the issue and appear to hoping that I sort it myself. The garage they allocated is over 1 hour away and they have endless issues in getting the part but it feels like they are just fobbing us off. I went today (they confirmed they had the part the other week) to only be told that they have returned the part. If Big Assist would use any garage or pay for the repair then it would be a completely different review. Oddly the first garage they allocated the repair rejected the job which makes me think that was the first red flag.
I would not go back to big motoring world apart from to reject and return the sale under the Consumer Trading 2015.
UPDATE - After almost 5 months the repair has now been completed. The delays seemed to be due to a single member of staff at the 3rd party garage being disorganised and useless. We ended up visiting the 3rd party garage 3 times (not including the initial visit for diagnostics).
I have increased the review by 1 star purely because Charlotte was helping and probably getting the same staff member we were. Big Assist need to take a Bigger lead in their aftersales and warranty issues and not leave it up to the customer. I suspect that if Big Assist were constantly hounding the garage like we were then they would have got to the good members of staff at the 3rd party garage. Hopefully, the fault is now fixed but no real way to tell until I'm driving in rainy weather. However the fault was obvious because the switch had a hole in it where water was getting in.
UPDATE 28072026 - ANOTHER FAULT MAKING THE CAR UNDRIVABLE. THEY DO NOT QUALITY CHECK THE CARS THEY DONT ANSWER TO GDPR REQUEST EITHER AND MY previous review has disappeared
For the last 2 months we have been looking for the big car needed for the family . From the moment we walked into the showroom the entire process was made easy and enjoyable, we were not pushed into buying just any car and my wife was given the advice and time she needed .
We have driven away in the perfect family car and it’s all thanks to the team that was involved . So a huge thanks and we will be seeing you again for the next time
Fantastic service

I bought a Mercedes a class from them over 3 weeks ago. I had the car for a week and could feel juddering under the seat and the steering wheel when driving on The motorway. I went back to them and told them about this they told me to phone the warranty. I did this booked my car in with the garage. The mechanic took it for a test drive with me in it. He could feel the problem I told him about and put it on the ramp back at the garage. 5 minutes later he came and got me showing me the problem. Two buckled wheels front and rear also faulty breaks. They had put new tires on it to try hide the real damage to the car. He said go get your money back.
So I went back to big Motoring company and rejected the vehicle. They said I had to phone their main office, so I did this they wanted the diagnostics from the garage. I sent them it and they said they would look on to it. I Left the car there as I was told it was not fit for purpose. It's been three weeks and still nothing from them apart from emails saying there still looking in to it. I've had to pay £700 to send them to court to get my money back.im now nearly £15,000 down and no car. Please avoid this company they are nice and polite till you buy the car then they don't care. Buying a new is supposed to be joyful experience not a stressful experience. Ive bern told buy a lot garages they get calls to fix cars from big Motoring company every day AVOID AT ALL COST!!!

Terrible customer service. Called to arrange an appointment yesterday evening for today. Told them that I am travelling almost 2 hours after work to come and view the car, if it sells can they please let me know.
They sent me a confirmation text for my appointment at 6pm. Then this morning sent me a confirmation email for my appointment outlining what I must bring with me.
I turned up after work and was asked to take a seat by their computer. A few moments later a man comes to assist and asks why I am there.. They did not even bother checking what car I arranged to see.
When I told him they told me it was sold today. Of course I was extremely frustrated having made a 2 hour trip that cost me around £75 on trains and taxis. They didn’t seem bothered about that and asked what else I want to look at.
The man could not understand my frustration as cars always sell? I understand cars can be sold but I specifically asked to be notified as I will be travelling far which will cost me a lot of money.
I would seriously avoid, its a massive place with hundreds of desks, main motive is making money and not servicing clients. I hear some terrible things about their after purchase service as well so maybe dodged a bullet…

reserved a car last week , paid to have it transferred to the Leeds branch , on arrival to view was astounded that it had not even been cleaned since it was bought in, a strong smell of dog. I can see through some things and was persuaded that if I purchase it will be fully valeted with a 200 point inspection , what a joke!
Test drive revealed a TPMS issue , this was dismissed as needing to be reset . Low and behold its a nail in the tyre and a big chunk out of the same tyre . Refused any responsibility as it is wear and tear . . . less than 24 hours . STAY AWAY this is not a pleasant buying experience , Available Car which used to be on this site were a pleasure to deal with, this bunch of clowns are a poor representation of car dealerships .

Would give 0 stars if I could!! Bought a car 05/03/2026 reported faults within the first couple of weeks (hesitation on acceleration, black smoke and an engine rattle) took weeks for them to sort out a diagnostic after many phone calls and emails which are always ignored. The diagnostic said it needed a new EGR valve. Which we then had to wait for BMW to authorise to have done which was another couple of weeks. The day after the repair we noticed the car was still the same and the repair hadn’t made any difference so again contacted BMW and my finance company as we wanted to reject the vehicle. BMW ignored emails and when I phoned my case worker was never available no matter what time I rung there was always an excuse as to why he couldn’t speak to me (he never once spoke to me in the months this nightmare went on). My finance company stayed in contact with me explaining they were trying to get answers from BMW. Eventually BMW told me to contact the RAC through my warranty (that they make impossible not to purchase due to the price they give for a part exchange which is considerably lower if you don’t take out the warranty) and get them to do a diagnostic to prove the faults are still there, at this point the engine management light was on and fault codes showing mass air flow sensor. RAC came and did a report stating that the faults were there and that I wasn’t to drive the vehicle anymore. I sent this report to BMW who then failed to respond for around 5 days to then tell me that report wasn’t detailed enough and I needed to get my car recovered to and from a garage to get another diagnostic done at my expense which I said no. My finance company sent someone to come and do a diagnostic at my address (weeks had gone by at this point) the report came back stating that the EGR valve had never been replaced and that the car had been sold to me with faults and it was unfit for sale (bearing in mind it should of had a 200 point check before me taking the vehicle). Even with this report BMW stalled the rejection process and just ignored emails and again nobody was ever available to speak with me from the rejection team. I eventually demanded a response and threatened legal action. BMW then said it was my finance company that was responsible for collecting the vehicle. After going back and forth BMW eventually got my car recovered from my address. My finance company refunded me all the monthly payments I had made up to this point (4) after 4 days of collection of the vehicle. but said it was BMW responsibility to refund my deposit within 14 days. BMW tried to stall again with payment by saying they had to wait for an ROA from my finance company and that they weren’t responding so I contacted the finance company myself who said that an ROA was nothing to do with me and should not be holding up a refund and that they had been in contact with BMW that morning. I have finally after 4 months of this and 3 months of the vehicle been sat in my driveway unused I received my deposit back but minus the fee that was paid directly to BMW as apparently an admin fee. I am still trying to get this back! I have contacted the ombudsman as I was left completely without any transport for months, never offered a courtesy car and have had nothing but stress and inconvenience for months as well as been out of pocket. No compensation nothing from BMW. By far the worst company I have ever known. Please avoid them at all costs as the cars are faulty, the staff are rude and literally the worst customer service ever!!

Buying a car from Big Motoring World was meant to be the easy part. It turned into a saga with more plot twists than a TV drama.
The car developed serious faults shortly after purchase, was inspected, rejected, and eventually collected. You'd think that would be the end of the story. Not quite.
Then came the Olympic event: The Great Refund Chase.
Emails disappeared into the void. Phone calls ended with "someone will get back to you." Updates became updates about waiting for updates. I knew the hold music better than my favourite songs.
My finance was unwound, but getting my deposit back became a game of "guess the refund amount." One email confirmed one figure, the next suggested it had changed, but nobody could explain why. Apparently, refunds now come with a surprise ending.
Throughout the process I was left without a car, spent weeks chasing information that should have been provided without asking, and had to do most of the follow up myself.
On the bright side, my email refresh button is now in excellent condition thanks to all the practice.
If you're looking for a straightforward car-buying experience, this wasn't mine. I can only hope no one else has to spend as much time chasing answers as I have.
I sincerely hope the customer service improves because buying a car shouldn't feel like signing up for a never-ending treasure hunt where the treasure is your own money.

This company seems to get quite a bit of stick for their pressure selling and poor aftercare. I can’t comment on the aftercare as I’ve only had the car 1 day (with no issues so far touch wood) but the service on the day was spot on. I almost didn’t travel down to Leeds from Newcastle due to the plethora of bad reviews but I’m glad I did. The car was very reasonably priced and I didn’t once feel pressured to take out any warranty/insurance/car cleaning etc. I simply said no thanks and we moved on. There were some cosmetic issues with the car but I bought it anyway as fixing them would still cost less than comparable cars on the market. All in all a good experience and they even took me to the post office to sort the change of tax class on the vehicle as I didn’t have a car.

It is always basically the same generic reply. It is a shame Big Motoring World does not put as much effort into preventing these problems and resolving the main issue properly in the first place. I already contacted Customer Care and had to fight to reject an unsafe vehicle, so asking me to contact you again simply avoids addressing what actually happened.
And still NO compensation for the 3 months I was without one of their faulty vehicles.

Staff were amazing. The variety of vehicles they have on sale allowed my wife and I to purchase a great car on a great deal. They are also very fair with part exchange prices.

I am writing this review based on my specific and ongoing experience with the Big Motoring World Leeds branch. Based on my ordeal, I strongly advise buyers to be extremely cautious.
I purchased a 2023 premium BMW, which was handed over to me dirty. Upon cleaning and inspecting the car closely in daylight, I discovered extensive issues on the side of the vehicle. The entire side has undergone a respray which, in my opinion, is of an abysmally poor quality. The paint is covered in popped microbubbles, severe 'fisheye' craters (chemical contamination), and a heavy 'orange peel' texture. To me, these are clear signs of a substandard repair for undisclosed previous damage.
Additionally, I discovered a major electronic hardware fault: the internal delamination of the iDrive/navigation screen. The car also had an undisclosed dent on the bonnet, a cigarette burn on the seat, and a strong, persistent odour from the air conditioning.
I feel strongly that selling a camouflaged, poorly resprayed car with failing electronics fundamentally breaches Section 9 of the Consumer Rights Act 2015, which dictates that goods must be of "satisfactory quality". Furthermore, I believe their failure to disclose the major respray prior to the sale violates the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008.
I formally exercised my legal Short-Term Right to Reject under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 within 3 days. However, both the local branch and the after-sales team (specifically an agent named Olivia) refused my rejection. In their written response, they dismissed the hardware failure and the poor paintwork as merely "cosmetic" defects, and demanded a mechanical diagnostic report for bodywork issues.
Furthermore, after reading dozens of concerning reviews specifically about the Leeds branch regarding their warranty, I decided to cancel the £1,995 warranty product I had purchased. This product comes with a standard 14-day cooling-off period. However, my legal right to cancel was completely ignored, along with my proposal to exchange the vehicle for a similar, more expensive model located at another branch.
I experienced numerous stressful set-backs and deep frustration at this branch, and I must clarify that this was entirely caused by the local management and not by the front-desk receptionists or sales staff, who remained polite and kind.
The on-site management, however, was evasive and incompetent. When I visited the branch, the person I spoke with initially claimed he wasn't the manager, only to reveal himself as the manager on my second visit. He demonstrated what appeared to me to be a profound lack of knowledge regarding fundamental British consumer laws. In what I consider a completely absurd move, rather than honoring my legal rejection, he proposed "buying back" the vehicle from me just to initiate a new sale. He stated that he only accepts returns for mechanical and electrical issues, bizarrely claiming that a failing digital iDrive screen is not an electrical problem, and dismissing all my other severe complaints as purely aesthetic.
Regarding their "RAC Approved Dealer" status, in my specific case, I strongly believe the condition of the vehicle sold to me and their handling of my complaint fell far below the RAC Code of Practice standards. I have officially reported this to the RAC; they have registered my concerns and are now awaiting the outcome of the bank's inspection.
My finance company (Zopa Bank) has now initiated a formal Section 75 claim, and an independent expert inspection is booked to assess the vehicle for the cancellation of the contract.
Based on my experience, I felt abandoned when trying to exercise my statutory legal rights. I cannot recommend this branch under any circumstances.
