I wouldn't give them 1 star. Declined yet again for a loan of £454 interest free over 24 months which I would have paid earlier. I was going to upgrade to the I phone 17, receiving a £345 trade in for my current phone. I filled in all details accurately and was directed to my online Barclays app for verification. All seemed to be going positively although this time the application did ask me if I wished to discuss my application regarding any disabilities which I have, however I didn't see any need to discuss this. Quite some time ago I was granted a loan to purchase an I phone mini and this was paid out early. Subsequent applications all refused including this one. I have multiple cards and do use credit. Not one payment has ever been missed. The irony is that they reply with an immediate decline but use the words "AFTER CARFUL CONSIDERATION ". I am not the only one disgusted by this vile company. I'm furious with Apple for continuing to use them. I only made the application as a game to see if they might have improved. Obviously they have not. Their arrogance is compounded by the fact that they then e mail you a standard letter advising to contact the credit agencies. This organisation is proof that the entire financial industry is a cartel of crooks.
UPDATE 13 SEPTEMBER 2025. It gives me immense pleasure to inform Barclays Finance that Lloyds have increased my credit card limit from £500 to 1500 and I upgraded to the I phone 17 paying CASH. My Barclays credit card already had a £3400 limit and I have the enormous balance of £20.83.

Genuinely one of the worst apps I have ever used.
1. Randomly doesn’t let you repay due to “error 002”
2. Resets constantly making it a chore to handle information
3. Horrible customer support

Absolutely crap!!! Do Not use. Call centres are in India they can't understand the Scottish accent. Never again!!!!!

I applied for a loan to purchase a new Apple phone which I had done in the past with no issues I was refused and even went to the store thinking I was doing something wrong, I received an email saying that the refusal was probably due to a credit check at that time stood at excellent on Experian I have never been in debt and only have regular bills to pay out, after challenging them I was told they would write to me that never happened and had to ask for another copy again I challenged them and asked for an explanation and told them the only thing that had changed in my situation was I was older and suggested it was a classic case of ageism which they denied , I have since Bought a New Phone through o2 with no issues and within minutes of processing the application and may I add slightly cheaper. So thanks for nothing Barclays and as the old saying goes You Reap What You Sow.

I was running late with instalment due to recent treatment of my dog. Vet bills can give a headache. I rang to make missed payment and spoke to Jane. Speaking to Jane was one of the best experiences I have ever had when dealing with late payment. Jane has great, friendly and helpful approach to customer. Thank you Jane for you help and understanding hard situations that life makes us to deal with.

Absolutely shocking and it dose not make no sense I have used it a couple of times I was given a account limit and a monthly limit which is fine by me until I tried using it and was told my monthly spend limit has been reduced. So even if I was to use my full account limit. I would not be accepted as it’s higher than what I can spend a month makes no sense I bank with Barclays as well which has made me think twice on this banking it’s just shocking and stupid

Have used it twice. Paid the instalments back on time.
Had a text through saying they are going to close my account, as I have not used it in 6 months.
Thought I’d buy something on it so I can keep it, only to be told I’ve been declined as I will go over my limit of £0 !!
This is why I think Barclays are a joke.

I have recently applied for Barclays Finance for an Apple Product. In the past I used Barclays services for similar purchases and the process was smooth and straightforward. On Tuesday I filled out application and on the screen was a message that it may take up to 24 hours for them to email me with the decision. The following day, way past 24 hrs window, still no communication from Barclays. I got in touch with their customer service through the messaging system and was advised that I need to send copy of my passport and a selfie holding it next to my face. That was 5.30pm so I sent it via the link they provided and was informed that it will be dealt with the following day. Today I just got in touch to follow up on my application and was told that they tried to contact me but I keep checking my emails (including junk) and my phone calls and no one from Barclays was contacting me. Then I was told that now I need to wait another 24 hrs because his colleagues have to check my credibility at which point I decided to cancel my order because I lost my patience with dealings with them. Checking someone’s credit score is a matter of seconds, I don’t understand why it’s taking them 3days…

Crazy ! I have a top credit rating, no issues and still denied for a bbq purchase on Amazon. They should ditch these clowns. Amazon, such a trustworth organisation, should not associate themselves with a bank that is dishonest to the core.

Tried to purchase an iPad using this companies zero interest finance. A complete fiasco, poor customer service and totally unprofessional, a week later I have cancelled order and told them to cancel finance application. Made a new order with Apple today, paid in full and will receive items tomorrow, have never experienced a problem with finance purchasing before, will NEVER use Barclays again

Customer service is absolutely shocking. Avoid, avoid, avoid!!!
It took nearly two hours to settle four loan agreements.
During the time on hold and the interruptions from the advisor, I managed to close two other accounts in other institutions.
Any contact with BPF involves being spoken over by misinformed staff.
Any complaint results in the complaint being taken by the complaint recipient about themselves ? A short investigation follows with staff siding with colleagues and no recompense.

Secure for BPF is sending information in generic post and not through special or recorded delivery.

I hope never to deal with such a poor company again.

They were friendly with me and patient . I had the loan more than I ask for . They were helpful with loading the pages. . only thing I borrowed money from being broke . And they wouldn't loan me the money until I sent them 200 dollars they was gonna return with my loan. N I didn't have any money so I didn't get my loan

The staff member who spoke to me was so disrespectful and arrogant in her tone. All she needed to do was give me some information. Would never return to this service again.

I have applied for interest free on Apple twice and both times have been denied by BPF. I have a 634 excellent Transunion score, no mortgage, little outgoings and medium earner.
Apple are losing custom due to this company. No explanation. Currently waiting for a response from them.
Through their apparently unfair criteria, they are damaging peoples credit rating !

Whatever problem I had, they solved it very Quick. He spoke to me respectfully.

I opened an instalment plan for an Amazon purchase a couple of months ago, since then I've been getting regular emails to download the app to view my statements or I'll be automatically switched to paper statements.

Why do I need to download an app on my phone, when I have a computer and you have a website?

Terrible customer experience, and I certainly won't be using the service again.
