Excellent all around service
I took my daughter here for her birthday. It was a surprise, and I had forgotten to book in advance. However, this was not an issue; Georgia at the front desk found us a table, and Mayur provided excellent table service throughout our visit.
We ordered the fish and chips following the advice of a friend, and it was an excellent choice, as the food was excellent with generously sized portions.
The fish was beautifully prepared, bursting with flavour, and so tender it practically dissolved as you ate it. The homemade tartar sauce was delicious, and the chips tasted great. The chips were unique, crunchy, tasty, and oddly shaped, but oh so delicious.
Sadly, we were too full for pudding, which says a lot about how satisfying the meal was, so we resigned ourselves to popping downstairs afterwards.
I have to say the service was spot on from start to finish. Georgia, Mayur, and Josh were fantastic hosts. They greeted us warmly, showed us to our table, served the food efficiently, and were polite and attentive throughout. Mayur kindly took a few photos for us as a memento of the occasion, which was a lovely touch.
After our meal, we did a little shopping downstairs, buying a couple of traditional puddings and one in a gift box, along with a few other treats to take home.
The restaurant here is upstairs and, as such, it isn’t wheelchair accessible. This is primarily due to the age of the building; however, I believe they have a seating area at the back that has easy access, so you may be able to enjoy the food out there, weather permitting. Everything was clean, well presented, very welcoming, and full of history.
We will be coming back and highly recommending this place for both the food and the friendly service!
