I received a large box of ‘Great Expectations’ for my birthday from my husband, however it arrived 7 days after my bday. My DH contacted ADC for an update a wk after he ordered them for an eta and was told they had a problem with their production line the previous wk and that ‘our’ box of chocolates were to be made and despatched within 48 hrs and as a gesture of goodwill they would include a box of truffles with the parcel.
10 days later the box arrived without the promised truffles. Nevertheless I was delighted, as I always am, to receive a box of my favourite chocolates. Except the chocolates have changed, the whole menu has changed and I’m sorry to say they’ve not changed for the better. Whilst they were ok, my DH agreed that they were nothing special. Pretty much like a standard box of regular chocolates. Not like the previous menu/chocolates which is very disappointing. Please Artisan du Chocolat, reconsider bringing back your old delicious favourites.

Ordered a big box for a special gift. Delivery was promised in 3 working days. The money was taken from my account immediately but today, over 2 weeks later - no chocolates. I'd emailed several days after ordering to ask where they are but no reply to that. Today I have phoned them and guess what - record a message. I think this company may be a scam. Do not buy their chocolates.

I purchased my first box of chocolates last week. It will be my last. The box was intended as a gift. When it arrived, the slim rectangular chocolate box had been packaged in a medium-size cardboard box, filled with paper, and stuff to keep the chocolate cool. Except, the box was badly damaged and had collapsed due to insufficient packing. The cooler stuff had melted and the box of chocolates was damp. I could hear the chocolates inside rattling around. There’s no way I could give this as a gift without having to apologise first for its condition. I immediately contacted Artisan du Chocolat. No response. Enough said. Don’t buy from this company.

Well packaged but I agree with other reviewers the quality of the chocolate has gone drastically downhill. It’s so sad as the chocolates here were experimental and exciting, I used to love the flavour combinations and creativity.

After browsing the site I can see the chocolates have been reduced drastically. I won’t be buying again as the products have lost their magic. The chocolate tastes waxy and cheap - it doesn’t melt in your mouth and the flavours and as strong as they should be. One saving grace is the salted caramel, that’s lovely.

I ordered a box of their valentine truffles. They are to die for - the best chocolates I have had. I have been a fan of their salted caramels for years but the truffles surpassed all expectations.
I am puzzled at the poor reviews below. I have always found their delivery to be extremely prompt and on one occasion the Christmas before last when I discovered that some gifts to a couple of friends had not been of the usual high quality their customer service was excellent and prompt. After I emailed them they apologised and sent replacement chocolates.

Rudest sales assistants at Selfridges - I bought 2 boxes of chocolates as a gift and they made me feel as though they we doing me a favour. Great chocolates and value - shame about the service.

I ordered from this company last year. My payment was taken by PayPal but no order confirmation. Never received order. Tried to ring and no-one was answering phone. Fast forward to this year. Stupidly. Ordered from them again. To be honest I had forgot they were same company I had trouble with. Same thing. Placed an order via PayPal. Payment taken no order confirmation. Tried to ring answermachine saying 'mailbox full' so now won't have the chocolate for Christmas and will have to fight to get my money back.

Average would be being generous. Highly overpriced for what was a generic product. The promised lemon and thyme tasted of nothing and none of the others fared much better. The only product which had any sort of flavour was the orange blossom.

£35 for what was generic tasting chocolate and not even high end at that - I feel absolutely robbed to be honest.

Having been a die-hard fan and bought chocolate from here for many years, I will no longer do so. Shellac, which I have no wish to eat, is used on too many chocolates. The only part of the Easter present from my husband that I was able to eat, was the egg which tasted of nothing but the packaging. The only way I could tell which chocolates I could eat was to contact the company and they did respond to my question within a day. Eggstraordinary Egg Single Plantation, Mindanao Island will not be purchased again. My Mother's Day present consisted of pearls which are also all coated in Shellac. Handing a present back to my husband that he had so thoughtfully purchased for me is not easy to do.

I received a Eggstraordinary Egg for Easter from my firm where I work. I too thought the chocolate tasted of plastic may be from the packaging. I thought it was a shame there was no information about the making of these chocolates and no menu card telling me what was inside the mini eggs.

I ordered an expensive Easter egg for my partner, no confirmation email at all but funds taken from my account.

Left it for a day just in case there were any email issues. Still nothing, so called their customer services. No answer and still no response received.

Attempted Facebook contact and email, no response.

Items were delivered, but wasn’t aware that they would be until the day of delivery. Lucky I was going to be in and not at work.

Overall the chocolate was alright, but I’ve had better. I’d not use again based on this experience.

dreadful. CUstomer service doesN’T exiSt. no responses 5 days later. we bought chocolate that tasted of plastic. it’s either old stock been festering in plastic wrap of their new packaging isn’t fit for purpose and has impacted the taste. no response from this company through any of their channels suggests that they do not give a stuff once they’ve had your money. i won’t be buying from them again and will advise others to stay clear.
UPDATING: they have since emailed asking for more info, over 2 years later! I suspect this email is an attempt to have my review removed if i don’t reply to it, rather than any form of customer care.

I believe that i eventually got a reply to my complaint and they issued a credit code - important to note that the code they gave did not work and i had to query this. They gave another which apparently worked. I used it to order for a friend which must have been okay so i will give another star.

After a problem with their site meant I was charged and didn't have an order I decided to try and contact them. Their answer phone was full so couldn't leave a message and I finally received an email a few days later after I sent one which informed me that the items I wanted are now out of stock and the order couldn't be fulfilled... so they have now cancelled my order and refunded just before Easter, great. Would not use again. I suggest they employ more staff if they are too busy to sort out orders.

Update: I appreciate the response and have reached out to the email provided. The fact you’re willing to send a free gift after so long is a welcome surprise.

I received 2 boxes of Truffles No18 and No14 from this company. Extremely disappointing product, all packaging and hype no substance. They may be handmade, sustainable and be fine cocoa but they have to taste good, all this hype is worthless if the product is very poor. The product must be exceptional at this price level and it’s far from that. Excessive packaging of this type is not environmentally friendly.

Great Chocolate, particulalry the caramel range and amazing staff. Last week we went to the Selfridges shop and had the pleasure to be served personally by the retail director (Lee)-this guy absolutely knows his stuff and looked after me an my sisters spendidly. A huge asset to the company. I will surely be returning to this lovely small concession.

Having been a die-hard fan of Artisan du Chocolat for many years, I am no longer. My first online order this week has been a disaster. Not the best ordering experience, in any case, but (as you would expect with a largely gifted product) it did allow for the billing address to differ from the recipient's address. After all, how often would you want the recipient of your gift to get the bill? Good, you would think. However, having repeatedly checked to make sure I had entered the correct details for both the recipient and me, when the order was confirmed, the billing address was the same as the recipient's address.

Artisan du Chocolat recommend that you call if you have any problems, but it was impossible to reach anyone. A message was left for the Retail Manager to get back to me; he has not. An email to the CEO remains unanswered. This is not a business that cares for customers.

And so, having been a fan of the product for many years, our love affair is over.

I started off ambivalent about Artisan du Chocolat. I had browsed the website and then visited the stall in Borough Market in the late summer, but given how little interest the monosyllabic man behind it showed when I asked about the chocolates, I figured I'd follow his lead and not buy any.

However, a friend bought me a box of the original milk and dark salted caramels. They weren't bad and the double-box was wittily presented, so today I bought the salted caramels in mint, maple syrup, and passion fruit to try with my husband. The seller at Selfridges was enthusiastic about the products, which was a sure improvement on Borough Market, but it was downhill from there.

Almost none of the mint ones we've tried so far taste even mildly of mint. We fared a little better initially with the maple syrup ones, but after a few they too descended into a generic caramel taste and we started to wonder whether we had spontaneously contracted C-19. Trying the passion fruit ones immediately disabused us of that notion: they certainly have flavour, and it is vile.

So that's the better part of £50 wasted, though I guess we might find some use for the elegant small round brown boxes. Too bad their original contents veer between flavourless mediocrity and sheer nastiness. I won't waste more money trying other chocolates by Artisan du Chocolat, especially not when Pierre Herme - now there's a chocolate-maker who knows how to mix chocolate successfully with passion fruit and mint respectively - makes chocolates that are consistently-flavoured, delicious, and justify the price tag.

Great customer service, great support for the NHS in the discount and support and the beautifully packaged products which brightened our day.

I had a terrible experience. I bought some chocolates that tasted off. I am regular customer since the store opened years ago so know all the products inside out. I called the store to mention it to them. They called me back saying to disregard the product as there had been a packaging error at the factory which was the reason the product in question tasted “off”. They asked me to return the product which I did. When I returned to the store the “Retail Manager” more or less told me I was lying and that the product was fine and no body had told me there was a packaging issue. He did refuse to taste it himself. He said it tasted off as it was a “recipe change”. I kind of thought a recipe change which no longer resembles any reference to the flavour it should be but didn’t want to argue as it was clear he was being difficult with me and judgemental...He reluctantly gave me a refund after I had to go out of my way to return the product and sent me on my way. I made a complaint but apparently the person meant to deal with it is the rude man who dealt with me in the store already...great definitely will will cancelling my long term chocolate haunt from any further visits. Their loss not mine...
