Ordered a wormery which was shipped the next day on a 24 hour delivery.
Came in perfect condition and the worms were healthy. Lots of useful and fascinating information in the enclosed leaflet. Looking forward to seeing them transform my kitchen scraps into lovely compost.

Good delivery and detailed, passionate instructions from a UK company .
Saves loads of landfill...............
Were now using the " worm juice " as fertilizer .........
Until now weve killed every living plant.... despite my best intentions.
ONE supermarket pot of basil / coriander, / Mint repotted fed on worm juice is like they are on crack !!!
Soon well have worm compost ...
Lots of fun doing our bit for the environment.
This is a very disappointing wormery. Nothing on the instructions let you know it does not do well outside. First night and new worms migrating to the sump and trying to escape and it rained heavily. The sump filled with rainwater as the tap does not allow drainage until the level in the sump is high enough to drown worms. I had to drill holes in the base of the sump.
I am not new to keeping worms and my question first of all was why would an apparently well designed wormery allow such levels of rain water in at all. I don't want continually soaked compost and worms. If there is leachate then the wormery is too wet. There is controversy over leachate and its use on plants and exactly what it is and if it is beneficial at all. The moisture level control in a wormery is vital to the health of the whole thing. This wormery just gets soaked every time it rains so I have no control over one of the most vital aspects of looking after worms. I noticed how the lips of the trays stick out to catch rain and the lid itself is loose and can be blown away by strong winds. I am really not impressed and would not recommend it for outside use in the uk.
In reply to wormcity.
Thank you for your reply.
There was no problem with wandering worms apart from the water in the sump. There was plenty of cardboard placed in there for them but there were worms drowning in the volume of water gathered by the storm. Had the tap been designed differently with a well, like worm cafe, then this would not have happened. I see another review stating the very same. The holes that were drilled were very small holes and worms will not get through them. I have a container under the bin.
Your comment "Worms live outside in the wild" is valid. Yes they do. This box is not the wild though is it? Things need to be comfortable for them. Worms in the wild can escape to drier/wetter places. As for leachate..as mentioned there are many saying that this is not a valuable liquid as such and should not be there in massive amounts as this shows the correct wet/dry ingredients were not added. It is also said that it is full of bacteria/fungus and actually should not be used but poured back into the top (but not in huge amounts). If the bin is too wet..add some cardboard/paper. Too dry..spray with water. The leachate from this bin (placed outside) is mostly rainwater rinsed compost and vegetable matter. I have taken a long hard look at videos on Youtube on wormeries and how to keep the moisture level just right for the worms. Nowhere does it say give them a regular soaking. Soaking takes the air out and compresses the soil. It is done with a balance of foods/paper/cardboard and misting if needed.
I bought the wormeries because of all the comments and awards and to me they mean nothing if I have to modify the bins and tie the lid on for actual use or place them inside. A thorough soaking every time it rains ruins the moisture balance and that for an artificial worm world is a disaster. I see on the Amazon comments that someone's bin got soaked..drowned all the worms and they now use it as a planter. I am not alone in these comments and suggest that wormcity would benefit from an overhaul of design ..at the very least a sump that works if it must endure drenching continuously.. regardless of how many awards its got.
Regarding your comment on the worm cafe wormery. I have had one of these for a number of years and I can genuinely say it has never let worms drown in the sump to my knowledge. It does not need to be stuffed with gravel/sand or cardboard to save worms from drowning because the water actually runs out of the tap straight away. The trays are never soaked by a downpour because the lips of the trays run the water away..not into the trays. The top does let small amounts of water in but its never been enough to disturb the moisture balance. The lid fits securely and does not need tying.
On the first night your wormery had a bunch of worms laying in water in the open tap sump area regardless of cardboard and paper placed there and they had turned very pale. In the wild worms will surface before a downpour so as not to drown and that is when birds get them. In wormeries the atmospheric pressure can make the worms rise to the lid and then return back afterwards to the soil. With your wormery I am wondering if the gap in the lid will make an easy exit for them when this happens and the bins are soaked through. They naturally attempt to escape wet.
I notice that you do not dispute the fact that your wormeries get drenched with every rainfall or that the sump fills with water and something needs to be placed in the sump like cardboard. You state that the tap is placed high because of the washer that would not screw on if it was lower. Not because a lower tap would solve water problems. I am done with this review and wish you well in finding a new design that truly deserves its awards.

Wonderful customer service from this company – I had a couple of issues with the ordering process but Ronnie went above and beyond to help. Order placed Thursday and wormery received next day!
Product as described, easy to set up and plenty of healthy worms included. Comprehensive instruction manual also contains information to prevent ‘worm wander’… I followed instructions to the letter and all have stayed put.
I’d recommend anyone looking to purchase a wormery to chose Wormcity – everything about the product and the business is 5*!
My wormery leaks. When it rains the sump fills up with rainwater. I have called Worm City to ask advice but I got an answerphone and so far they haven't responded to my message.

I have a compost heap which does not get hot and so is full of the small red compost worms. I then played at setting up a wormery for my kitchen waste with an old plastic dustbin full of holes at the bottom and some worms from the compost heap. It ended up being very smelly and very wet. I knew I had to do things better so bought a Wormery from Wormcity. Easy to order, competitive pricing, and quick delivery considering the current lockdown. It looks like a beehive and was easy to set up. I used some of the existing kitchen waste and worms to set up the lower tray and followed their advice about adding cardboard from egg boxes / toilet rolls to reduce moisture. Now no smells and the worms are now thriving and moving upwards through the trays as they seek out new food. I have started to drain off the liquid to feed my plants and the lower tray should be ready for emptying soon as well. So an excellent choice and many thanks to Wormcity and their staff as I know the lockdown has caused many difficulties.
Really good experience with this company.
The staff were really knowledgeable and friendly and took time to explain the different options available.
The delivery was very quick. I ordered at 4pm on Tuesday and it was delivered at 11.15 Wednesday morning. Less than 24 hours.
The wormery design is also excellent, very easy to put together and strong.
My wormcity is now pride of place in my garden
Excellent company, I spoke to them for about 20 minutes before I placed my order. They couldn't be more helpful and guided me through the various options available.
The delivery was next day and the wormery was excellent. Very pleased and would happily recommend this company
