Boards are VERY rough
I ordered 3 boxes of the unfinished walnut planks. A few were cracked, or had a very visible line on them. I oiled them with Danish oil, and they were so rough that bits of the lint-free rags I was using stuck all over them. I had to wait for them to dry, and then spend hours sanding all the boards smooth, and re-oiling them. They look decent now, but I didn’t appreciate the hours of extra labor, and the price of more supplies. Paying $500 for the wood to do a tiny bathroom ceiling was a lot for me, but I thought it was worth it. It definitely was not. Wallplanks please sand the boards before shipping, or warn customers that they are unsanded. Had I known I would’ve sanded them first, or just ordered your prefinished planks.

Hi Jennifer, we apologize as this isn't the experience we wanted you to have, some SKUs especially our Unfinished ones are made for those who choose to stain and paint but they don't necessarily need to sand them down, are you able to provide pictures of the rough bits if you were able to save any? If not we'd appreciate if you could reach out by emailing us at info@fromtheforest.com and so we can work something out for you at least for your efforts and still being able to use our product.

Great Idea but…
First, one of the sample pieces was split down the middle. It’s hard to imagine that the person who packed this didn’t see it and I don’t think it was done in the mail b/c the box was quite sturdy. But still I was hopeful. Then when I peeled the backing off one, it is obvious that the wall planks are thin. Maybe that would work if you intended to put nothing on the wall once the planks were installed. But that was not my plan. Lastly, when I did the calculations, it came out to be pretty expensive just for an accent wall. So not for me. I replied to the email which you sent me and expressed my issue, particularly with the damaged sample. All she/he said was “sorry you had a bad experience.”

Our wall turned out beautiful
Our wall turned out beautiful! The product is very easy to work with. Customer service is great! My only critique is that some of our boards were damaged. It is a little pricey, but worth it.

Great concept but many defects and price warrants a higher quality product
About 20% of the planks I ordered were dented on the edges or had blemishes on them. I got a quick response from customer service and they offered to give me a 40% discount on a new box. But since the website offered a 30% discount the refund was only 10% or about $25 on the new box. The next box also contained planks that were dented and the adhesive on the box wasn’t nearly as strong. Two planks crashed down the evening I installed them. While this product is a great idea, and super convenient to install, for the almost $1000 investment I made I fear I will have to rip it out and have a contractor install traditional shiplap.

Love love my new wood plank wall
Love love my new wood plank wall! I am not a very crafty person and this was actually pretty easy to do. My husband did help with cutting the wood pieces but otherwise I did a lot on my own and it was very rewarding! Already planning my next wall in another room.
