After 32 emails and several phone calls we still don’t have an answer.
Avoid this company like the plague. I took out holiday insurance with this company for a forthcoming trip.However before the date of the trip I had a heart attack and later when recovering I rang Viva to update them of this medical issue.They then refused to cover me,cancelled the holiday insurance and said they would refund me part of the cost.There has been no refund and all calls and e.mails result in absolutely nothing being done..still no refund.This company is based abroad and is just there to take your hard earned cash.
Put a claim in for a missed flight in September they finally responded on 6th November saying they would come back to us within 21 working days & despite emailing twice since then for an update they still have not come back to us. Please don’t bother insuring through these people. They are shockingly bad.
My wife was ill on holiday, she was only suffering dehydration and was put on drip which done the job and was ok after. I paid £710 to the doctor and had the receipt with all the details. sent the claim in and have only had automatic responses.
I wish I had read the reviews before booking this travel insurance company. I would give it a ZERO if it was an option. My 9 year old had an ear infection on holiday overseas so paid £140 for consultation and then £28 for antibiotics. When I got back to UK I input a claim and like others it took a month to assess my claim and send an email stating i have to pay an excess charge of £150 for an EAR INFECTION!!!! so basically after I ended up paying £168 overseas this scam of a company would give me back £18!!!!!!! Absolute joke, please whatever you do DO NOT USE THIS TRAVEL INSURANCE COMPANY!!!!

This company is outright a scam.
I submitted a travel claim a while back ago.
I didn't get anything. No info, no confirmation of anything, nobody contacted me, absolutely nothing.
I can login to the website, it says my claim is logged ... but....
Literally nothing happened. Nobody contacted me, my claim was never reviewed or closed.
Just nothing.
This is so strange.
Totally a scam, how can this scam company function in the UK? Crazy.
Keep your money, stay away.

So, it's been over 10 days since my review.
Nobody from the company has tried to contact me, and I have got literally zero updates about my claim
ZERO.
Literally don't believe anything this company says.

Not worth even one penny to buy by them travel insurance! i paid more for a better plan and they didn't help me!
This company could improve if they wanted to, purchased travel insurance two weeks prior to holiday and was unable to view documents sent e mail and rang them not a dicky bird would suggest avoiding like the plague
Like others wish I had read the reviews and would have avoided this company .I tried ringing them on 3 occasions to add another health condition each phone call to customer service went unanswered for over half an hour.so I gave up then read the reviews terrible company.i then tried contacting them through the claims line to cancel my policy thinking they would answer quickly but no took 25 mins.the person who answer sounded like they had just fell out of bed and had slurred speech the ring tone on this call was not and English one?I hung up .and cancelled by e mail still waiting to see if it reaches my bank account .go compare should take this company off their list in my opinion
When my flight was cancelled I booked my own travel and claimed for the delay but was told I couldn't claim because travel took place, guess I should have waited 2 days for the rebooked flight so they could have found some other reasons to deny my claim. I tried to contact them before booking my own transport but of course it's only open Monday-Friday office hours.
I bought travel insurance from Viva when my family went to Paris at late May. On our return journey, Eurostar cancelled our train and we had to take the next day's train. Viva refused to all of our claims by saying that the reason of the cancellation as "technical problem" was not within the scope of coverage. It's very hard for a layman to argue on this. Therefore, it is advisable not to consider Viva again.
I didn't check Viva's rating before buying the travel insurance. If I had check it here, I should not have bought the insurance from them. Therefore, I would like to write my experience here and hope it helps the other people.
(PS. I finally got some refund from Eurostar)
I used this company last year for ski insurance and I paid £108 for three of us - none of us have any health problems. Just got a quote for exactly same again and was quoted £260! Obvs won’t be using them! Have had other quotes for £160!
Stay away! Nightmare to deal with! Can’t get hold of them and when eventually get through, they refuse to do anything. We had their most comprehensive policy and they tried to wriggle out of everything. Had to go through the ombudsman to get even what was obviously covered by the policy.
DO NOT USE this company it’s a SCAM.
They do not return your calls or reply to emails and I can no longer access the portal where my claim was submitted as I had to cancel my holiday due to illness
Absolutely shocking I wish I had read the reviews before taking out the policy. It’s amazing how they can reply to a review but not to calls or emails AVOID !!!!!

Trying to claim back hospital and medical expenses when my 1 year old had to go into hospital while on holiday abroad. Not only is it quite a complicated long form to fill in when claiming back the expenses, you cant get through to anyone to speak to over the phone as were still trying to sort out our claim after several months. And when they do email you back its quite a wait. I managed to arrange a call back for a specific day and time to chase up my claim and to get it finally resolved and they never called me back. Incredible disappointment with viva travel insurance.

What a scam! I wish I saw this review before I purchased the policy with this company.
I have received call from the representative and told her about my experience. Apparently my claim went through but I haven’t received any confirmation of it so I had to take their word for it. I’m glad that I didn’t need to contact this company in an emergency as it was bad enough without emergency. My opinion hasn’t changed, I will not use them again. Btw. they didn’t explained to me why no one was willing to talk to me despite I called claim contact numbers on their website.
I was trying to make a claim as my flight was delayed and when completing the lengthy and pointless form it kept showing that there is an error on the website. It said call this number which I did and no response. I called the number on their website for claims and they said that I have to fill the form on the website as they don’t deal with the claims. Not sure why the web has a claim number if they don’t deal with the claims??? I spent an hour on calling numbers from their web and the email confirmation policy and apparently no one from the claim representatives deals with the claims. Also, in order to make a claim you have to submit your claim online which doesn’t work, in order to get somebody to look into your order. They send the policy holders to run in circles it seems in order to discourage them from making the claim. I’m reporting them to FCA authority to investigate this company. Stay away!!!

Took out travel insurance via on line portal for trip to Portugal. Flight delayed beyond 4 hrs and our baggage delayed 48hrs after arrival. Completed a claim which took Visa 6 weeks to acknowledge asking us to get BA to corroborate our claim ( when did baggage arrive etc )
It was hotel who helped retrieve our luggage via contact direct with Faro airport, BA did little to help. We offered to get Hotel to confirm date/time of luggage arrival. Stoney silence from Visa so I told them not to bother anymore. It was costing more in my time and unanswered calls to pursue the claim which they obviously wanted to avoid dealing with.
