Good & bad
First point is the trademen who were sent didn't speak English, despite the website saying the opposite.VitFix.io had 2 jobs to do.The first job was laying a stone bathroom countertop which was done efficiently and calmly. The contractor, Paolo, was very good. Very happy.
The other job was painting balcony doors with outdoor polymer paint.
The 'painter' was a nice guy but clearly didn't have a clue about the paint he was using, how long the paint took to dry and the type of rollers you should use. We took it upon ourselves to visit the paint shop, get advice from them and pass it on him & even buy materials for him.
The person who was coordinating the work, whom I never met, didn't use email (their email address bounced back) and only used WhatsApp. That's not uncommon in Portugal. However, the co-ordinator’s organizational skills were lacking, he would forget details very quickly so we ended up having to repeat ourselves.
When things started to go wrong on the paint job and I requested we call it a day so we could source another painter his reaction was unwelcome and became melodramatic and unruly very quickly. Rather than engaging with this melodrama we agreed to allow his guy to finish the job.
Lest to say we were happy when the painting contractor left we had to properly finish off his work on the 3rd door as the finish wasn't to a good standard.
After making final payment I provided feedback of our experience to the coordinator who thanked me for the information.
I asked for a final invoice, the coordinator told me he was on vacation and would send it upon his return. It never arrived. After a month I sent a gentle reminder but it looks like I've been blocked on Whats App.
If you need a plumber from Vitfix, ask for Paolo but if you need a painter doublecheck they know what they’re doing. And don’t expect an invoice for your bookkeeping.
