I’ve test ridden a handful of ebikes and the Specialized Turbo Vado (4.0) feels the most like riding a regular bike to me. The longer wheelbase and suspension (shocks + seat post) give it dreamy handling—almost like steering a boat, but in a good way. And this bike is FAST, which is great for me, cuz it turns out I’m a bit of a speed demon. 😈 On the flip side, the brakes are incredibly powerful. Along with the relatively wide tires, stopping on a dime is no problem. I like to design routs along safe, scenic back roads. In Seattle, that means hills. “Hills?,” my Turbo Vado 4.0 inquires, “Hills are no problem!” A 30-mile ride with multiple 10% grade climbs can be an easy recovery ride or I can jam hard and get the heart rate going. It’s entirely my choice. I also love this bike’s versatility, afforded by the fenders, built in lighting, rack. I’ve been using it for grocery runs, and on July 4, I strapped my camp chair on and took it down to Lake Union for a prime spot to watch the fireworks. The powerful headlight helped me get home at 11pm no problem. In the first few weeks of owning this bike, my time and miles in the saddle have grown exponentially. As a lifelong biker who’s owned many bikes, this might already be my fave. At the very least, I’m rediscovering my joy for being on the road, something I haven’t felt since my touring days. If you are thinking of getting a bike from Upway, stop hesitating and do it. (And if you can find this bike or the Vado 3.0, just do it.) Happy riding!
