I’m absolutely delighted with my new under‑stairs storage. The whole experience was smooth, efficient, and far better than I expected.
From the start, communication with Richard was excellent. He kept me well‑informed throughout the process, explained everything clearly, and made sure the design suited exactly what I needed. It really felt like nothing was too much trouble.
When it came to installation, James, my fitter, did a fantastic job. His attention to detail was spot on, and the quality of his workmanship is outstanding. Everything fits perfectly, looks great, and works smoothly. He was also tidy, respectful, and clearly takes pride in his work.

Disappointingly unhelpful customer service
Disappointingly unhelpful. Refused to answer any questions about what their services/products cost, and refused to give any sort of quote (despite the website offering this). I understand the need to account for the large volume of enquiries you receive, but they refused to discuss anything with me unless I first provide a budget to "work to" (suspicious!). When I plucked a number out of the air (because they wouldn't give any price indication) I was told "sorry this isn't enough". No attempt to help me with my question - APPROXIMATELY HOW MUCH WOULD YOUR SERVICES COST? I cannot budget for you to do work if you refuse to give any information. Waste of my time, and your time.

Your comments are exaggerated and made up. If you want bespoke products or services you will need to specify a budget for the operator to work to for you.
You made an enquiry in January 2025, wasted our company time with numerous requests and never responded. You then made another enquiry in October 2025. We identified your second enquiry and asked you what your budget was for fitted bespoke furniture made to measure. You requested free quotations which we do not offer and wanted a Shaker design (the most expensive under the stairs), made to measure finished in a special chosen colour for under £1000. We informed you that the VAT alone was 20% of your purchase price.
Unfortunately, due to you having requirements far beyond the reach of your budget, you decided to leave a vexatious review when your enquiry was dealt with over a weekend in a timely manner. Good luck in finding fitted bespoke furniture with a lifetime guarantee, available Nationally at under £1000. We think you should educate yourself before trying to damage a good company reputation with your ignorance.
Genuine and reasonable customers will judge your actions for what they are. Disgruntlement at not being able to afford a quality product at a laughable expected price. You are simply displaying your ignorance to real world costs. Our Trustpilot account has been under attack for 1 year probably because we will not pay them and it is interesting to see that every 5 star positive review is from a paying customer that can be evidenced legally through disclosure that they have had an installation in their home. Every 1 star negative review is from an enquirer, not a paying customer, who cannot afford what we offer. Good luck in your quest you will need it!

The product looks great, but their sales staff were extremely rude and unhelpful, it's just not worth trying to deal with them.
For a premium bespoke product, it's totally reasonable to expect a basic level of courtesy and engagement on a sales lead.

We have a zero tolerance policy to people abusing our staff.
After sending us an unbelievable amount of emails with requirements that were extremely expensive, we simply asked you to follow our process to enable us to assist you. You would not offer a budget for us to design and plan to. You persisted in ignoring the process we have in place. We certainly do offer a premium bespoke product and at very competitive pricing, this cannot be done when dealing with people who do not help us to help them! Those people only increase our costs!
You ignored 5 telephone calls and would not answer. You hid behind your emails like a keyboard warrior. We can only serve those who allow us to serve them!
Just because a person cannot afford what they want is not our fault. Try abusing Ferrari because you can’t afford their cars!

Second Installation by USS
In 2021, we asked Under Stairs Storage to quote us for a large installation comprising 6 drawers and a double hanging space. The result was exceptional. The design and craftsmanship that went in to the job was of the highest standard and the installer left no stone unturned to get a perfect result. We did a lot of work on our house during and in-between lock downs, but of all that work, this installation was our favourite. It transformed the look of our house, and was more useful and practical than we could have hoped for.
Fast forward to August 2025 after we moved house. To get Under Stairs Storage back in to do our understairs was one of the first things we arranged.
They have again turned an almost unusable, unattractive space into an eye-catching, practical storage space that has transformed our new house.
Richard remembered us like old friends and with just a couple of supplied measurements came up with three alternative designs without breaking gait, and James (who installed our first one) turned up just a couple of weeks later and worked his magic once again.
USS offer a lifetime guarantee. I can vouch for that too. When we had a small issue with our first installation after around 2 years, one quick phone call was all it took for the cavalry to arrive to make a small adjustment.
To say I recommend this company is an understatement. I would definitely use them again if I was daft enough to move house in future, rather than consider pre-made furniture. All drawers and clever spaces are created by hand on site and two out of two installations have been impeccable.
The price is very reasonable for the end result. The quality is brilliant. There is no comparison between this and any flat pack version of under stairs drawers.
The last thing to mention, which I can't find anywhere else, is the coat hook rail that slides out giving easy access to coats at the back of the space. We have two and are worth the installation cost themselves.

Hi, thanks for your enquiry, due to the style of your bannister / stair facia you would have to open the area up for our furniture to be planned into and then come back to us once completed. You must check the bannister and facia is not load bearing with a structural surveyor or builder before removing any part of it. You have made false claims and left a vexatious review with intent to harm, it has no relation to what went on. You obtained speedy replies. Due to your false review being vexatious, our solicitors have traced you legally by your enquiry details provided & are preparing a legal action for defamation / slander of a UK company (publicly with unlimited disclosure) with intent to harm and damage both turnover and reputation. This will be sent to your place of work as that is where we have traced you to, if you wish to supply a home address we will send it there. You have the right to amend your review to reflect a 100% truthful appraisal of what was discussed. We would advise you to take legal advice based on your actions.

So unhelpful!! Asked me what my budget was. I gave a figure and that was too low. I then asked them for a guide on what was possible for the works that I described. They said they couldn’t help. They were no help whatsoever. I’ll go to a company who can be bothered to help guide a customer who has never undertaken these kind of works before and requires expertise.
I also stand by my expletive said to the company during my exchange with them. Well deserved.

Regardless of size, under stairs work is complicated. That is just based on my personal 35 years experience. Expertly fitted, solid units
I had never heard of USS until recently and was taken aback when I saw the number of five star ratings they have amassed on Trust Pilot. It seemed too good to be true so I did a bit of due diligence and then made contact with Richard.
I am so glad I did, for I now have useful storage under my stairs where before there was just a space which attracted ‘stuff’ and looked less than attractive. The new units are not only immensely useful and practical, but operate smoothly – and look smart.
James was our fitter. He arrived on the hottest day of the year so far and worked without a break for over 8 hours as the temperature soared to 31 degrees. He not only did remarkable work in that time – the units are cut to size on site so much of his work was outside – but remained remarkably polite, pleasant, even-tempered and simply thoroughly nice. I take my hat off to him.
If you’re hesitant about contacting USS, don’t be. They are straightforward to deal with, have an excellent product and do fine work. It’s rare to be able to give high praise these days but USS is definitely deserving of it.

Superb service
Having had several quotes for storage under the stairs UnderStairsStorage were clearly the best; Richard listened to what we wanted, gave several options and was upfront about the costs involved (which were very reasonable). There was no problem in working around pipes and manifolds that needed to remain accessible.
All the work was done in one day and we are delighted with the result - thank you!

Good luck getting past the enquiry stage..
I contacted this business via their enquiry page on their website, as I’ve seen the quality of their work and was very impressed and interested in understanding how much they would charge for some additional under stairs storage. I’d done my research on the reviews and quality and didn’t expect it to be cheap. Unfortunately from the tone I received in the initial email, it was assumed that I didn’t want to spend a decent amount of money and the provider refused to give me any indicative quote, or didn’t ask any further questions on measurements etc without me telling them my budget. I’ve never enquired with a business and instantly been made to feel like they didn’t want my business and that clearly my enquiry was beneath them.
Edited to include the response since received from this supplier threatening legal action for my honest review of the painful enquiry stage which didn’t align with what was explain on their FAQ’s page. What a delightful individual. This has been reported to TrustPilot.
We noticed that you’ve taken to trust pilot to try and damage our reputation and leave a negative review which is not 100% in line with events and communications that took place between us. We hereby reserve our rights legally to take action against you for false information left in a public domain. That is due to the review not being 100% accurate in line with the communications for a lack of doubt.
We are duty bound to send you this email legally and make you aware that the cost of our intended legal action could for exceeded the project that you originally contacted us about.
We will be placing the copy of the communications between us as our reply on the trust pilot platform for others to view and should also make you aware that every five star positive review we have is from a pain customer not merely an inquiry like the limited number of negative reviews are.
Due to our trust pilot account being under attack for this reason, that is why I we pursue these matters legally.

Our TrustPilot account is currently under attack from vexatious enquirers not paying customers. Probably from a disgruntled company in our sector. You contacted us telling us that you have existing under stairs storage from another provider & require to add to it. We identified that your house has a cheap budget solution installed. Without a budget for us to design & plan to, we could not identify if we could assist you further. This is based on your current solution being very difficult to match to due to the low cost nature of it. You would have to go back to that low level budget flat pack provider but assume you already had tried that and found that they cannot add to it because they do not offer bespoke services. We find it very strange / odd that limited, efficient & timely responses from us to you have caused you to take to TrustPilot so quickly with intent to damage our excellent reputation. All 5 star reviews are from paying customers who have had us install furniture within their homes Nationally throughout the UK. All the limited negative reviews are from people who have merely made enquiries & seem not to be able to afford our services or be willing to assist us in assisting them by sharing a budget to design & plan to.

We are homeowners of a £500k house, not looking for a cheap fix. Thankfully another carpenter has come back to me in the meantime. Please delete my details.

It is obvious that our speedy & efficient responses out of hours on a weekend / Saturday evening obviously annoyed you that much that we deserve a 1 star negative review. Your local carpenter is welcome to your custom & it's clear you could not afford our services by not wishing to part with information to assist us. Most people with the affordability are happy and trusting to do so. You can see by our hundreds of positive reviews that many consumers actually do get past the enquiry stage as per your review title.
We also note that you have never left a positive Trust Pilot review only negative ones!
Delivered up to a standard, not down to a price
I used to use that motto when I ran my own business. Whatever industry you're in or buying from, there's a spectrum of experience, pricing and quality. Our journey started from seeing an advertisement on Facebook (for a competitor) and finished with a fully-fitted, solid installation that exactly matches what we'd pictured in our minds.
We'd contacted a couple of companies, and I have a preference for meeting the people I do business with. As it happened, I haven't met any of them for this job; no high-pressure salesman came knocking at the door. The first company went from first contact to quotation very quickly, on what I felt was insufficient information. We weren't inclined to take it further.
By contrast, Richard was very approachable, obviously knowledgeable (including about his competitors) and incredibly professional. First contact elicited a exploratory phone call, which was followed up by me supplying some ropey photos with measurements added in Paint. These were transformed into scale drawings with options and pricing. Not cheap, but quality rarely is.
From there it stalled for a couple of months while we got a builder to sort the floor and walls under the stairs, my son and I having removed the cupboard which turned out to be a bomb shelter for very short people! Once the hallway floor had been laid, we placed the order with Richard and it was all systems go.
From arrival, James worked like a trojan, solidly for better part of 12 hours until the installation was completed, handed over and, most importantly for the house-proud, all mess had been cleared away. Our under stairs is transformed with more rock-solid storage than we immediately know what to do with! And it's all higher specification than we dared dream of.
The installation is finished, not just primed. The drawers are all significantly larger than competitor offerings, and capable of taking more weight. The quotation told us all that was included, not the base price and what to add for those little extras that are actually essential to a satisfactory installation.
By all means compare prices but people buy from people and, despite not actually meeting him, Richard does his very best to deliver what you want at a price that you're comfortable paying, and takes pains to exceed those expectations. We're not planning on moving but, if we did, we'd have Under Stairs Storage back to make that area perfect.

I first came into contact with Richard from UnderStairs Storage not long after the New Year. Previously I had a couple of quotes from other companies both higher and lower, but wasn’t too keen on using either. I decided to look on Trustpilot and that’s when I came across Understairs Storage I was really surprised to see and read so many excellent reviews and almost didn’t believe them but decided to make an initial contact. I’m so glad I did. Richard was so very professional and thorough with his quote. As the quotes weren’t done in person we spoke and communicated via email to which Richard always replied promptly no matter what time I emailed him, even on a Sunday. He answered all my queries and put me at ease until I was confident and happy to go ahead with my storage. By that time I knew I had made the right decision choosing Understairs Storage. I had to wait around 3 weeks from paying the deposit to the day of fitting when James arrived around 9:15. As soon as James arrived he was on it, hardly stopping for the next 12 hours but I can’t tell you how beautiful the finish is. His workmanship is outstanding. He worked hard, by himself to finish the job. I’m so very pleased with my UnderStairs Storage, the company are very professional and sincere to work with and I have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone and submitting this review, you won’t be disappointed. I definitely wasn’t.

Absolutely delighted with the quality of our Understairs Storage!
Without doubt, from start to finish this has been the most professional company I have ever dealt with. The communication with Richard was always incredibly speedy, the timings of fittings always spot on, and the attention to detail by James during the fitting process second to none. Really lovely company to deal with and I would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone with an appropriate budget for a quality job with top level materials, and an unbeatable Lifetime Guarantee.
I must confess to some initial worries having seen that every single review from PAYING Customers were 5*. Perceived “wisdom” on the Internet appears to be that this is a “red flag” and that you cannot satisfy everyone … so it MUST be a scam! Well … quite simply, all the Reviews are genuinely 5* because that is absolutely the quality of product and service you will get.
I noted the odd 1* review, which on inspection were from people who had made enquiries and NOT gone ahead. Basically they had objected to the automatically generated response to the “Enquiry Form” asking for information on the Client’s budget. This seemed to me a very reasonable starting point, as is their policy of NOT providing Free “Design and Quote” services, and quickly sorts out those who are genuine potential clients, and those who are likely to just be buying on price alone, and who should perhaps be directed elsewhere!
We opted for the Shaker Style, and whilst this added about 50% to the price, it was so worth it, as it just fits in so well with the panelled doors throughout the house.
