I've done several challenges... here are my thoughts:

- Pre-event communication is thorough, with event details and updates communicated via an app (it can be a lot of info to wade through, but I guess there is a lot of info required with these events!)

- A lot of thought has gone into route planning and logistics. Challenges are varyingly.... errr.... challenging (!) in terms of terrain and elevation, but there's plenty of information on the routes available, good choices on distances, and they are often covering spectacular countryside (which is a lot of what it's about, for me). Last minute route changes are handled and communicated well, where necessary.

- Great service in pre- and post-event transfers to start/end points or local railway stations.

- The volunteers... oh, the volunteers... what a marvellous bunch. Always there with a friendly word, a little motivation, advice, help, blister support... I even had a chat with the lady cleaning the portaloos and she said it was the best company she'd ever worked for.

- They make it manageable. Don't get me wrong... ultras are hard. Do the training. But there's a lot of inclusivity here. Whether you're elite or just trying to get by, there's a training plan for you beforehand, and plenty of advice and motivation.

- It's fun. Even when it's hard, it's fun. Partly down to the camaraderie of participants, but also thanks to the creation of a fantastic team atmosphere.

- It's safe. They take care of people. Especially participants going through the night, and especially people competing alone. You never need to leave a pitstop alone if you don't want to.

- Talking of pitstops - they're great - I've never had to queue for a loo more than a minute. There's nothing better than fresh pineapple and Freddos mid-challenge, and there's always plenty of them.

In conclusion - if you're wondering whether to try an ultra, try one of these. Find a route and a distance you like the look of, get out there and give it a go. It'll be worth it.

I completed my first Ultra Challenge on the South Coast and it was amazing. It was really well organised with a friendly and supportive team along the way.

Plently of information was shared before the event and it was great to be part of this event.

Planning my next event already!!

It took me a while to find the right words for this review, because I wanted to do justice to just how grateful I am for the incredible team at Ultra Challenge. Running has been a big part of my fitness journey and I’ve completed a few marathons over the years but taking on an ultra-marathon felt like an entirely new and intimidating challenge. For a long time, I wasn’t sure I had the courage to even sign up.

When I reached out to the Ultra Challenge team with my worries, their response was nothing short of amazing. They were so supportive and encouraging, taking the time to answer my questions and reassure me that I was capable of doing this. That initial conversation gave me the confidence to take the leap and register for the race, something I had dreamed of but never thought I’d actually do.

On race day, my nerves were sky-high, but the moment I arrived, the atmosphere they had created was so welcoming that I immediately felt at ease. From the start line to the finish, every member of staff played a part in making the experience unforgettable. The support stations were well-stocked, and the volunteers went above and beyond, handing out food and drinks, offering words of encouragement, and giving you that little boost of energy when you needed it most.

What stood out to me most was how personal the experience felt. At every checkpoint, staff were smiling, cheering, and making sure every runner felt cared for. It never felt like just another event, it felt like a community that wanted you to succeed. That kind of support is priceless when you’re pushing your body and mind beyond what you thought was possible.

Crossing that finish line was one of the proudest moments of my life, and I know I couldn’t have done it without the incredible team behind the event. They turned what could have been a daunting experience into one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done.

I’m already planning to take part in future races with Ultra Challenge, because I honestly wouldn’t want to go with any other company. If you’re thinking about signing up but feel nervous, trust me, you’re in the best hands. This team will inspire you, support you, and celebrate with you every step of the way.

The Thames Path Challenge was professionally organised and all stuff were friendly and helpful

I've had the best experince doing the Thames path ultra. The event was very well organised, route really well marked, aid stations with everything that was needed. I'm so grateful to have taken part in this great event. Thank you to the organisers and the team that helped us all get to the finish line. I'll be back

I completed the 100K Thames Pathway Challenge. Wow, amazing! This event is run so well. Plenty of rest stops, food and beverages were great, toilet facilities were clean with plenty of loo roll and hand sanitizer. All the staff were warm and welcoming, especially towards the end when most needed. Great course, shame some is in the dark because you really go through some beautiful locations, but to be expected on such a long track.

Completed the Thames Bridges Trek 25km this weekend as my second Ultra challenge event of the year.
As always the organisation and staff were superb. A march and a protest had already facilitated a route change, however when the protestors started to move and converged on the route the Trek Masters did a phenomenal job in making rapid route adjustments and communicating this to participants in a sea of thousands of people along south bank: keeping us, and making us feel safe

I completed the South Coast 100k continuous ultra challenge on the 6th and 7th Sept and what an experience. Top notch organisation from start to finish, great variety of food and drinks and amazing support staff throughout. Don't get me wrong it was a proper slog to get to the finish taking us just over 30 hours however, with the encouragement from the marshals, and some amazing medical support for my rather knackered feet, I got round. If you are considering this type of event I would highly recommend this company - although be prepared for both the lowest physical and mental points but the most emotional amazing highs and spectacular views. And two days further on, looking back on it, it was all absolutely fabulous.

Nice trails in beautiful sceneries. Perfectly organized so that you can just enjoy walking.
Helping hands and staff were so lovely, always with a smile and motivating us.
Food and beverage was excellent especially for vegetarians and vegans - Lunch and dninner. There were always fresh fruits and lots of sweets for fast energy.
Medics at every rest stop to take care of blisters or if exhausted.
Very good signage during night, never felt lost.

Action Challenge and all of their suppliers were amazing! From the people who went out and marked the route, and again before it got dark with glow sticks. The catering was brilliant, and the teams at the rest stops were so welcoming and supporting. The medics and massage teams do outstanding work. Will I do another challenge with them.... 100% YES!

A great event, well organised, helpful staff and trek masters out on route are just the thing you need for encouragement. The South Downs Way Ultra was certainly challenging almost from the start getting up over Beachy Head and the Seven Sisters.

South Coast Ultra Challenge another well organised event, with great support and food at the rest stops, wonderful support staff, especially the Trek Masters and Cheer Team at the finish. I did full 100 km and signposting including glow sticks at night were well positioned and spaced. I will be doing further challenges in 2026 with Ultrachallenge.

This was a superbly well organised event. The trails were well marked, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the catering was top notch at every stop. I would highly recommend.

Extremely well organised event. Everything went smoothly. Masses of support, 4 great meals and endless snacks and drinks included. Staff were brilliant. Really couldn't have been better.

I attended the Ultra Challenge Summer London walk a few days ago and wow what an amazing event! The organisation from start to end was brilliant. Really easy and simply registration to great group warm up at the start. When I went to take a picture at the start, I took our my sash (as I'm a pageant girl) the gentleman on the announcement really proudly declared "Miss Unique UK 2024 is in the building, let's chat and find out more!" We then spoke and he kindly gave a shouout to my amazing platform "HeadStart" which truly meant the word. The course layout was really clear and I loved that it told you how far you had done, it was super motivational. The t-shirt and medal at the end was amazing and the food provided was so yummy! Loved that you also had massage therapist there too! I would 100% recommend and definitely do this event again!

A special shout out to Dan Brooks. I wish all companies were as responsive and helpful. I will continue to always use this company for this reason.

This was such a will organized event from start to finish. I booked camping, all very slick booking you in. Evening meal was very good and warm food, same with breakfast. The route was outstanding, the rest stops are by far the best ones I've had on an ultra. Fresh fruit, pastry, energy good, drinks, lunch stop was great as well, good variety of food. All had electrolytes to rehydrate. Amazing atmosphere, great volunteers. Definitely signing up again.

I have done 3 events with them and every time is a huge success. The volunteers are wonderful. Always with a smile on their faces and ready to help you no matter the time.
I will be back for my forth very soon!

Ultra Challenge are a very well organised company who focus on looking after their challengers. All their staff, whether paid or voluntary, are all extremely kind and helpful. Their encouragement and enthusiasm gets many challengers over their finish line.
The food on the route was plentiful and nutritious, there is something for everyone!
The route is so well mapped out and maintained, that even I couldn’t get lost over a 100k 🤣🤣
I would definitely recommend UC.com and already looking forward to my next challenge with them.

Well organised, professional and caring company. I have taken part in 15 of their events and have never had a problem. They’ve always been on hand to help with queries and answer questions. The events themselves are excellent. All rest stops are fully supplied with food and drinks and every rest stop has a dedicated medic team ready to help. These guys really know what they’re doing, complete value for money.
