We own a flat in a converted Victorian building with a very complex, multi-level roof and a range of defects. We contacted UK Roof Surveys to investigate the cause of a leak into our flat. The complexity of the roof and the challenges involved in accessing it had made finding suitable surveyors and roofers extremely difficult.

Ashley was very understanding of our situation and kindly agreed to visit our property on a Sunday morning. Over the course of more than four hours, he conducted extensive investigations and tests to identify the source of the leak. He successfully pinpointed the exact location where water was entering the property and provided a clear, evidence-based explanation of the likely cause. He also identified additional issues requiring attention that were unrelated to the leak.

Throughout the inspection, Ashley was excellent at explaining his investigative process and findings in a way that we could easily understand. We came away feeling fully informed and equipped with the technical knowledge needed to understand the problems with our roof.

The report was exceptionally thorough, providing the detailed findings, supporting evidence and independent assessment we needed to support our dispute with the insurance company. Despite the level of detail involved, Ashley delivered the report extremely quickly, and it was clearly written, well-structured and highly practical.

We’re FTBs and had some issues getting a quote for the roof issues flagged in our level 3 survey which was delaying exchange. We needed an independent surveyor to advise us about the roofing work we were having done. We had some worries about particular aspects of the work, so we asked for that to be a special focus.

Our surveyor was extremely helpful, not just during the considerately-arranged inspection visit itself and in the detailed report he gave us, but in the fact that he followed this up by remaining available to advise us in the following days and weeks as we continued to work with our builders. In particular, his knowledge and advice gave us greater confidence and helped us to be clearer about what what was important and what we needed to do to move our situation on.
