Bought the ginger and lemon and chamomile flavors and omg the worst flavors. It taste super concentrate for a cup of tea. It makes you wonder if this is really natural.

We regularly purchase Twinings Breakfast and darjeeing teas. I hope all customers realise we are all paying more for less. The tea bags now have no flavour and are so weak they don't even stain my teacup. Disgusting way to treat previously loyal customers. Bad move Twinings. I shall certainly be changing my brand.

The everyday tea has no mention of Chinese yunnan in the blend since the box changes to 40,80,120. Certainly not as good as it used to be. The English breakfast they just massively underfill bags compared to the strong breakfast. I weighed 2.4g contents. It's not just the Lapsang Souchong they've changed. I'll totally stick to Ringtons and Yorkshire tea going forward both make superb teas

The ‘Distinctly Smokey’ tea is appalling. I used to love Lapsang Souchon tea. The replacement is vile. How Twinings can claim it is inspired by Lapsang Souchon is beyond my taste buds. If the supply was more difficult then why are other suppliers able to get hold of it? So disappointed. I will choose other suppliers over Twinings for all me tea in future.

What an absolutely disgraceful con, I have been drinking Twinings Lapsang Souchong tea bags for as many years as they have made them, living in France I stock up when I’m in the UK, it’s my treat of the day.
This morning I had my first taste of the replacement Smokey tea and my last - it wasn’t just bad - it was appalling - an acrid, bitter, unpleasant experience and my last, I have ditched the box of 40 (not 50 as before) - a complete waste and I hate to waste anything.
I gave my husband a taste “ acrid bonfire with too much wet stuff on it” - I’ve now ditched Twinings completely and if you look fellow sufferers, other brands are available at around the same price and doing the real thing.

‘A rich, mellow smoke flavoured tea’ - it’s chemical rubbish, their ‘…..300 years of care and expertise……tea is more than just a drink’ is absolute twaddle. What’s more, don’t be fooled into putting the Biodegradable tea bags on your compost heap, they are only industrially compostable.

Have to agree with all the other reviews on here that mourn the passing of Twinings Lapsang Souchong tea bags. If Twinings thought their customers would switch to their "Smoky” replacement they claim is “inspired” by Lapsang then they have another think coming. It’s an awful chemically tasting based concoction rather than genuine wood smoked black tea. I had in the past always thought of Twinings as my premium brand supplier of tea. Now I need to find a new one as they have lost my trust with this cheapskate attempt of increasing their profits - just like dropping the quantity from 50 bags to 40 but in the same size box! And yes total amount of tea drops from 125g to 100g.

At £6 for 80 teabags it’s robbery, I will not be buying them again, they should be selling to the poles where they make them.

It seems I'm not alone in loathing the Twining replacement for the lovely Lapsang Souchong. Now we have 'Distinctively Dire' sorry 'Distinctively Smoky'. The tea smells of nothing - certainly not smoke and it tastes like . . . well . . . nothing. It's as though all the soft smokiness has been removed with Twinings thinking that their customers won't notice! I bought another box because I got the teabags mixed up with some cheap teabags. When I sniffed them I couldn't tell the difference between the cheapies and the apparently smoky ones, so I bought some more 'Distinctively Smoky' thinking it might be one 'off' packet. But no - the new tea is terrible. What is wrong with you, Twinings? Did your tea tester have a head cold? Do better. You charge enough for it.

I join the many who have been conned by the lapsang packet being used to package 40 bags, instead of normal 50, of 'smokey' tea. This is a nasty flavoured tea which has no resemblance to lapsing. I am not buying Twinings again. There are other brands available.

Right so the boxes of earl grey used to hold 100 tea bags now you only get 80 for the same price and the box is slightly bigger than the 100 size box

Distinctly Smokey is a terrible chemistry experiment gone wrong. Apparently like many others, we bought it assuming that this would be an acceptable substitute for Lapsang. It smells dreadful, wet-leaf bonfires smell better, and is literally undrinkable. We threw away the remainder of the packet, will transfer all our tea buying to another UK brand that doesn't seek to con its customers.

Made the mistake of buying 'Distinctly Smoky'! Same coloured boxes as Lapsang so just picked up 4 boxes as usual along with Darjeeling. Absolutely awful tea. I see from reviews that it has no fans. Twinings just lost a long standing customer as I can get Darjeeling from other suppliers and will find some sort of replacement for Lapsang. So disappointed ☹️

I usually buy Twinings Lapsang and this week I was conned big time in the supermarket. They have replace their normal Lapsang with a chemical infused tea but have hidden this by leaving the style and the colouring of the box unchanged. It wasn’t until I got home I realised my error. It is undrinkable.

I have used twining breakfast tea for years with no complaints until this year. The tea is now so weak and not at all enjoyable. 😕

So sad that Lapsang Souchong has been discontinued by Twinings. This was my favourite tea. I have been sent a box of Distinctively Smoky which is their poor replacement product. It has nothing like the sweetness and depth of flavour - it tastes like a cheap black tea with a cigarette butt in it.

Discount put on products onsite the day after I had ordered. The package hadn’t been for filled when I contacted customer services. They waited until it had been shipped to contact me then said I would need to pay for returns as I could see if had been shipped!!
Poor service as they could have stopped it from shipping.
This is why I shop at tea pigs as a general rule their customer service is impeccable!!
I won’t be buying from them again.

So so sad! Why would such a good quality tea company use chemicals to remove the caffeine from all their decaf range!!!!!
Come on, lots of other companies use the Swiss Water Method, why can't you?

I bought some that I will never receive. 50€ of dutty taxes

Twinings has long been a disappointment, thought I'd try a box of back tea and earl gray loose leaf to see if it had improved, same cheap tasting rubbish. The earl gray was awful. Twinings "HOME OF POOR QUALITY TEA "
