This is the worst company i have ever dealt with. Gave me the run around. Denied claim because they said didn’t get records they needed. Which is a lie. My doctors sent me what they sent and I sent it also. Had emergency back surgery 1 month prior to cruise departure. Then came back and denied it because it was within 60 days of departure. It was extremely hard to understand customer service rep and claims rep. Said they would call you back and never did. If there was a way to give a worse rating I would.
This insurance company is terrible
This insurance company is terrible. My wife had a gallstone imbedded in her pancreas during a Celebrity cruise. The pancreatitis pain was immense. The cruise ship doctor administered morphine every four hours until we could get to the closest port of Bimini. Finally, the nurses came and she was airlifted to Fort Lauderdale. Our policy had $50K coverage and AON agreed to pay only $20K of our $81K bill. AON is worthless. Don't waste your money. If Celebrity offers AON when you book, don't purchase. Go with another more reputable travel insurance company and pay them for the cruise dates. This claim, considering the immense medical emergency, should have paid the full $50K. AON is terrible we are appalled they made up a reason to pay less than half of policy limits.
They do not want to give me my refund..my excuse for Canceling my husband was so sick died two and half weeks later
We were booked to take a trip on Dec 08 2024. We realized my husband was not doing good so we canceled the trip way ahead of time. On Dec 22 2024 he passed away from prostate cancer. I sent his death certificate and a doctors note to son. They got back and told me it was denied. Because he had an existing Problem…they never asked us anything when we took out policy in fact we booked it a year before and he was fine he started to get sick in September and we knew he wouldn’t be able to make the cruise…no way I thought he wouldn’t be able die.
Patricia C Trezza my husbands name was Conrad J Trezza Jr. Dec 20 was the cruise booking number

We were never told about pre existing sickness nor were we asked so I would like our money back.
Our experience with AON travel…was less than desirable.
Our experience with AON travel insurance was extremely frustrating! It appears there is no communication between those determining the outcome, nor does anyone ever sign the emails. We purchased travel insurance and needed to cancel the trip due to medical reasons, with doctor documentation, 3-4 weeks prior to the cruise. While waiting for a refund, I received emails telling me we were not eligible, asking for additional documentation, stating we would receive a partial credit for a future cruise, and then stating we would receive a partial refund. All of this was done through email. I received a phone call from someone named Shirell while I was in hospital with my husband, asking for a return call. I called her back multiple times leaving messages always reaching VM! I finally told them that I would go to my local 'on your side' TV station and/or my state AG if need be, if a full refund is not forthcoming. I did eventually receive the refund, but not without a great deal of effort and many days of frustration and angst. Never again AON for us!
Bas Business Practices
I’m actually rating zero stars. I’ve filed a claim and of course AON wants a Medicare denial of claim (EOB) before they pay out, which I believe they will stall for as long as possible. This insurance company knows that if a Dr. is not enrolled in Medicare, charges are not covered through Medicare. Especially when they can’t provide an NPI (National Provider Identifier) which Medicare and all insurances require. They also know that flag ships are international and their doctors don’t fall under the US jurisdiction of Medicare. Isn’t that why travel insurance is purchased?! And why would reputable cruise lines like “OCEANIA” use a company like AON? Is there a government agency that could help with AON’s business practices? If so, I would like to know.
AON is Trash
No stars. It is bad that a reputable cruiseline like Carnival has a company like AON servicing their clients. Horrible service. You pay for insurance and you get zero back. We had to cancel due to my husband getting pneumonia 5 days before our trip. He was admitted to hospital. I had dr fill out paperwork same day. Flyer say refund of funds paid or waiver of cancelation fees. Well Carnival- didn't charge cancelation fee or give refund and neither has Aon when it clearly states refund. Decline AON ( Carnival travel protection) and go with Alliance Global. They are an excellent travel Insurance. Signed a frustrated travel agent.
Aon Travel Insurance Guess I've been scammed too
Guess I've been scammed too. This insurance was offered through the cruise company, for a trip to the Bahamas. My husband had a nedical emergency with vertigo that produces the uncomfortable spinning or whirling sensation. Filed a CLAIM last Februrary, still fighting with them. the latest was they sent a letter to my husband (as if he were the Doctor, asking the doctor to provide information on himself, as the patient
A Disguised Insurance Company
I cancelled my cruise due to my husband heart attack. I submitted request and they dragged me through out the process. They requested so many things and I gave them everything they wanted. Towards the end they were requesting information that was there in the medical records, that even a 5th grader could read. At the end they said that Carnival could not refund any of my money. I honestly did not understand if I was dealing with the insurance not Carnival. I did not even buy the insurance, they add it like an automatic thing without telling you. They're scammers.
Buyer beware. Find another travel insurance provider.
Needed to cancel (last March) a short cruise due to medical circumstances that required surgery. To date, I have still not recieved reimbursement for the paid amount. Aon delayed at every opportunity...asked for duplicate medical information from my care providers for many weeks. Total claim was approximately $2800...Aon offered to pay $427.50. Still looking for answers but not hopeful they will resolve the matter fairly. I'm filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Stay away!
AON is computer only and all has to be…
AON is computer only and all has to be uploaded and no email attachments. This is definitely discrimination against the elderly and those that are not computer savvy, They want to not pay out claims. Beware!!! Buy your travel insurance from your local travel agent.
Aon travel customer service SUCKS
AON customer service is the worst. They only like to receive premiums and try very hard to place stumbling blocks to claimants to continually ask for more information. I filed my claim to be reimbursed for medical expenses and AON is constantly asking for more proof. I was told by one of their brain dead employees that they are aware that Medicare does not pay claims for medical expenses outside the United States. She advised I need to contact my supplemental insurance carrier as to their coverage for medical expenses outside the United States. I received a letter that united healthcare does not cover medical expenses outside the United States. I submitted that letter to AON TRAVEL and was advised the letter is insufficient. It has been four months and still no reimbursement for medical expenses on the ship.
I would love to give a zero a year ago
I would love to give a zero a year ago. We booked a cruise on Royal Caribbean and Royal Caribbean sold us Aon travel insurance. My mother became sick and could not go. We had to cancel. We felt like we were OK because we had travel insurance with Aon. How stupid are we?
We have signed all the documents. We have uploaded everything we have signed everything more than once we have uploaded more than once. Finally, I uploaded my mother‘s death certificate. What more proof did they need that she wasn’t well enough to go? Still waiting for a call from Aon
Horrible..
Horrible... I had to have surgery the day before the cruise. And they would not give me any money back... I fought and fought. Even my travel agent tried and nothing. The worst insurance company I have ever dealt with.

Had a cruise with princess and my flight was delayed by jet blue. Arrived at the airport and contacted princess immediatlybecause I missed my transfer.was told to uber which I did I arrived at the pier and was told they would send someone from the ship to get me but I was refused entrance by princess. The ship was still in the port. Was told to contact aon so I did. After numerous emails asking for additional info including documentation that the flight was late they denied my claim saying a late flight did not qualify for reimbursement under their plan.that was not the reason I didn’t get on the ship princess refused to let me on and kept all my money both princess cruise and aon are the worst possible carriers and insurance I have ever encountered in my life and I have cruised alot
What a scam
What a scam. If this is the insurance offered, save yourself the money. We had a cruise booked and had each purchased this insurance ($39/$39/$69). One of the group (married to the other in the group) underwent surgery and subsequently had a stroke. According to AON, this was not covered. The doctor would not clear the person for a flight and then the cruise so we had no choice but to cancel. I’m not sure what would’ve been covered.
Horrible business model
Horrible business model. They operate more like a scam than a legitimate business offering travel insurance.
We booked the cruise and bought Aon’s travel insurance through the cruise line. We experienced a “qualified” medical emergency the day before the cruise, so we never boarded. We filed a claim right away through Aon, with supporting paperwork from medical professionals. Aon continued to ask us for more and more paperwork over time as we continued to provide evidence. It seemed like quite a long stall. Nine months later, we received the decision that they denied our claim. Having had phone calls with them and provided evidence to them signed by the doctor, it seemed as if Aon never intended to approve the claim. “Stall and deny.”
I will never trust Aon’s products again. If you can find some other insurance for your travel plans, do it.
This must be the worst company ever
This must be the worst company ever. They have you purchase travel protection and then don't honor the contract. I purchased this insurance for myself, my daughter, and my grandson. When I tell you it has been a roller coaster trying to get my money back from this company, I mean it. I paid $2,575.00 for the trip. I work for the federal government and because of the disaster in Tampa, we are being deployed. I provided them with the travel documents, the emails, along with the date, time, and location. The representative advised me that they only deal with military disasters when this was mandated by the military. They have not yet allowed me to speak with someone in the corporate office, and AON sent an email saying military travel is the only way they would pay. I really need some assistance with this matter. When I initially signed up, they never told me this. I keep reaching out to AON. It clearly states on your website that work-related travel is included.
I purchased travel insurance for the…
I purchased travel insurance for the Alaska Cruise in August 24, 2024. I am still fighting to get reimbursement for onboard hospital bills, on land extra expenses due to the illness I got on first day of cruise plus expenses from Hospital stay in Seattle. I have jumped through hoops to give everything the AON has asked and it is like they are going out of their way to find a reason not to pay. A little common sense would go a long, long way. I can assure you one thing, I am through with AON and their travel insurance. I have a trip to Spain in July this year but will look elsewhere for insurance, Buyer be ware!
AON travel insurance no star review
My husband and I are in our 70's and bought aon insurance for a cruise. We received devastating news from family that my husbands sister was hospitalized and if we wanted to see her come now. So we canceled our cruise, and has been a nightmare for us trying to get our refund back from them. We have emailed documents signed from the doctors twice stating sisters incurable disease. Now they are asking for more records dating back to August 2024. It is very stressful fighting with Aon for almost 2 months and we see no ending in sight. Please choose your travel insurance wisely, which we have learned through this horrible experience.
