Thieves at Torvehallerne
I am writing to formally express my disappointment regarding a recent experience at your restaurant, Omegn & Venner, which occurred during my visit on November 27, 2025, at 14:14.
Despite being daily, consistent customers at your establishment, our experience this time was entirely unacceptable. During our meal, our belongings were stolen, which severely affected our overall experience. Alarmingly, the staff and security appeared to be familiar with the thief, even conversing with him in Roma, and seemed more upset with us for expressing our distress than with the situation itself.
Additionally, the chef at Omegn & Venner, along with the store manager from a nearby shop, was confrontational and lacked empathy, even threatening me to remain silent. If I were in their position and my customers were robbed, I would be deeply embarrassed and would prioritize assisting them rather than responding aggressively to the victims.
We were unable to pay for our meal because my device was taken; however, the restaurant insisted on charging us the full price, which we observed another patron paying. Torvehallerne did not contact the police, report the theft, or provide any guidance on how to proceed. Instead of offering assistance, we were asked to leave while the thief was allowed to walk away, despite three witnesses confirming his responsibility.
Afterward, we approached the police, who informed us that such treatment of customers is unacceptable and raises serious safety concerns, particularly regarding the possibility of staff colluding with known thieves.
I strongly urge you to address this matter, as the treatment we received was far from what one would expect at an establishment of your reputation. While the food may be enjoyable, the handling of this incident has left a lasting negative impression.
