Confidentiality/Failure to safeguard visitors
This review is to let the public know that email addressed to Tom Hayes MP are being read by office staff.
I've had two emails to date from the office manager commenting on correspondence that is not addressed to him.
I write in confidence to Tom Hayes. There is no warning that I can see that email can be read by others.
There's no prominent signs at office indicating protocol to contact Tom. That is that although the office is in a public precinct it doesn't provide a walk in service.
The staff I met and spoke with don't exercise the customer service that we are generally accustomed to when speaking with a member of staff. They don't wear any identification or introduce themselves or ask for the name of the visitor to address them accordingly.
My solution, to be sure confidentiality is maintained is from now on I will write to Tom at the House of Commons. Marking the envelope Private and Confidential: For eyes of the addressee.
Tom will reply by letter.
