We try to teach students the basics so that they can achieve a strong level of confidence, which in turn frees them to concentrate more on what they are writing than on how they are writing it. Our teachers love motivating our students to want to write more!
My daughter Ashley
My daughter Ashley, enjoyed this writing program. She is a Special Ed student, 8th grade. The course was used to fill the requirements for the state of Maryland Homeschool, Language Arts writing requirements.
Ms. Nicole, was her teacher. I appreciated that when she reviewed my daughters assignments for error, she also praised her on how well she was doing.
Ms. Nicole, responded to the classwork or my emails within 24 hours, this was really a plus.
I look forward to having her take one of the paragraph writing courses during the summer, to help her be ready for the fall 2021/2022 school year.

My daughter completed two courses last…
My daughter completed two courses last year (7-8th grade). One course during the last school term and another to study during the summer. She was very excited about her course work, teacher interaction, and feedback. Her takeaway was enhanced writing skills, and a stronger desire to express herself in writing, which has led to her writing the draft for a book.
This year she is enrolling in another course for the summer.
We have had an excellent experience with the Time4Writing courses and teachers. My student was ready to learn how and about writing.

Hi Juan,
The Time4Writing courses are designed to create confident and diligent writers that will feel comfortable when writing, rather than pressured. The eight-week sessions are purposefully timed to allow the teacher to help push through any writing barriers and get comfortable with writing, rather than producing gaps in between assignments causing students to lose the confidence they have been building with the assignments in the previous units.
The site is designed to allow one written submission per student per day. Just like in an actual classroom setting where a student typically does not get teacher feedback until the next day, our courses are set up so that students will receive their feedback 23-24 business hours after the submission was made. While waiting for teacher feedback or grades, you can still access lessons and quizzes, up to the next written assignment.
The quickest way to get through a course is to complete all grouped lessons and computer-scored quizzes and to try to submit one teacher-graded assignment at about the same time each day. Following this schedule will allow most students to complete most courses within 6-7 weeks.
For students who need more time, there is a complimentary 7 day extension as well as paid extensions available.

Not every submission will be asked for a second attempt, but if the first attempt would have scored less than 80%, the teacher will usually give some pointers on how the student could improve it and ask for a revision. Class was helpful
I wish there was a way the student could chat in real time when he had a question. Otherwise, incorrect work may get submitted that causes a delay in moving forward.
It took a while to get familiar with the layout of the program and tools. The next course should move along smoothly.
I liked that the class could be
extended for one week for free.
I recommend this program and will enroll my middle schooler in the next writing course.

My kids have taken several courses....
My son took 3 of the Middle Grade courses and my daughter took 3 of the Elementary Grade courses. It was highly suggested by our charter school to take these courses but to be honest I have never been very impressed with them. Personally I feel the platform they teach on is greatly lacking in interaction with and for the parent. If I want to access feedback or course history I need to sign into my child's acct to do so. There is very little, by way of the parent's acct, to track their child's work/feedback/log in and out times. I find it so frustrating!
They advertise that the student can work at their own pace however that's extremely misleading. Each course is designed to last 8 weeks, they will extend by a week for free but after that they charge you an additional fee and that's on top of the $120 already paid, it can really add up.
Another frustrating feature is the 24 hrs it takes to get a grade back, I totally understanding the theory on this (the teacher needs time to correct) that's not the part that bothers me, its the fact that if there is a redo on an assignment then its another 24 hrs to grade it, meanwhile my child can't progress onto the next assignment till they have received a grade on the previous assignment, so it can take a couple days just to accomplish one assignment....you're now behind on the time frame schedule. In short, I always feel like we are "racing the clock" to get these courses done on time, and half the time my kids didn't make the cutoff date, which is discouraging for a child.
I think T4W has the potential to have a good writing program but I just feel they come up short in a few vital area as I previously mentions.

We like to encourage families to try to log in daily (Monday through Friday), at about the same time each day. Teacher feedback opens 23-24 business hours after a submission has been made, and if a student logs in at about the same time each day, the feedback should be there waiting for them -- allowing them to make a revision or move on. Once a written submission has been made, lessons and quizzes can be done up to the next written assignment, but the next assignment cannot be submitted until a grade has been given for the first. This is to ensure that students do not continue to make the same mistakes over and over.
We have found that short increments at regular intervals create the best learning experiences, and this is how the Time4Writing site has been set up. We do have an internal process where reported issues are passed over for a thorough review process before any decisions are made. We appreciate your feedback, and have escalated it for further review.
