No customer service just mental torture

Well what can I say, I have experienced some bad customer service in my time but nothing on this level. Trying to get answers from them is akin to going through a program to see how much psychological torture you can withstand. I spent 9 mind bending hours on chat and 3 on the phone, having the same conversation over and over again with around 15 different people. At the end of which nothing has been resolved. I am now looking for a new provider and Talk Talk will not be getting another penny from me.

I am extremely disappointed with the way my case has been handled. I have complained many times already, yet the issue still remains unresolved. I am now over £100 out of pocket and continue to receive delays instead of proper solutions.

I was promised refunds of £69.95 and £25.00, but neither has been fully resolved. Holding back an approved refund while another investigation is ongoing is unacceptable. This situation has caused unnecessary stress, inconvenience, and loss of trust.

I no longer feel confident in your service and would not recommend your company to others based on this experience.

Watch out for the ' End of Contract'…

Watch out for the ' End of Contract' additional 30 days notice at their higher rate.

They tell you it is fixed term and there are no ' exit charges' but they jack up the rate at the end of the contract period so if you cancel a day before the end of the contract ( including the notice period) they will charge you an exit fee, if your notice period doesn't expire on exactly the right day, you will be in to the higher rate or without internet. Very sneaky. I've given them 2 stars only because the service hasn't been bad while I've had it ( about 6 years) but I can see their rating has gone right down, rightly so, because of behaviour like this. It made up my mind to move.

Actually, its worse than that - actually checking the contract ( which is quite hard to find) it also says' However, if you're transferring to another Telephone or Broadband Provider, we'll acceptt that you've given us sufficient notice when we receive notice from them'. So if you use the online switch service and are outside the contract, you don't need to give 30 days notice. That bit wasn't mentioned by Londiwe, ( on the chat of course, no telephone) but then they were trying to get me to stay at a higher rate.

took 7 different calls chasing & chasing whilst given the same BS robotic responses, mobile not taking or receiving calls 8 times i called from son in laws phone indian call centre, hard to understand accent, They’re quick to take your money but resolutions are poor

Tragic!

I recieved 6 in total, SILENT phone calls from Talk Talk in a 2-week period. SILENT, meaning that the caller (in this case Talk Talk, my service provider) says nothing, and when I answer the phone, they hang up! Terrific, when you're working from home, trying to concentrate on your work!!! Rang them, complained, and was assurred it was sorted out, only to recieve 2 more. Then emailed complaint, and was told by a "Triston",
"This matter does not fall under any framework that would necessitate compensation", showing how little they appreciate customers. After further pressure, they offered a "good will gesture" of £10. £10, for not just the numerous interruptions to my work, but the hours spent on the phone - much of it spent trying to have a conversation with a robot ("I need to know what you're calling about today" etc. etc.) - trying to get it sorted out, amid promises of "someone will ring you tomorrow about it", which of course noone did. Tragic!

Totally unhelpful and useless…

Totally unhelpful and useless experience trying to talk with customer service chat. Nothing answered more questions raised and none answered. Not really worth the effort to try a contact Talk Talk as just leaves you thinking you wish you hadn’t tried in the first place a totally pointless and frustrating experience they seem unable to answer simple questions about themselves, I don’t trust they are able to resolve simple issues without a lot of your own research. Alford using this service if you can it’s not worth the effort

I got a data sim only great working…

I got a data sim only great working perfect on my 4k. Then after my 14 days it was terrible only worked on 720. Buffering all the time. Then tried to contact them on there site. Just kept me waiting save your money. The worst of the worse.

OMG very poor

OMG, I should have read the reviews before I went for this network, very very poor service, after the restrictions on your network due to late payment you need to wait 2 to 3 days for you to get your internet connection to be restored, and mind you, you would have to pay for the late fees which is £12 and extra money on top, customer service is very poor no respect for customers, be careful with this network, the stress that comes with it is too much, purrrr

Very difficult to cancel their service when no longer needed.

We’ve been with TalkTalk for 8 years. When prices increased, we deliberately chose not to renew our contract because fibre broadband was finally becoming available in our area, and we wanted the flexibility to switch providers when the time came. As a result, we continued paying more on an outdated contract simply to avoid being locked into a new deal.

Once we switched to a fibre provider, we tried to close our TalkTalk account — and the experience was incredibly frustrating.

The only way to contact them was through a live chat system that disconnected every 5–10 minutes. Instead of processing the cancellation, the agent repeatedly asked which company we had moved to, over and over again, to the point where it genuinely felt like I was speaking to an automated script stuck in a loop.

Even though we were no longer under contract, they insisted there was a mandatory 30-day notice period “to ensure a smooth transition.” I explained several times that we had already switched providers and no longer used their service, but they simply continued with the same scripted responses:

Who had we moved to?
Would we transfer the account to a friend or family member instead of cancelling?
Could they offer us a better deal?

After repeatedly saying no, they finally moved towards cancelling the account but then asked for my “consent” to keep it open for another month, making it sound optional. When I challenged this and explained I would publicly share the conversation and screenshots, they suddenly said they needed to speak to a manager.

Only then did they offer to close the account within one week.

Next came another issue: returning equipment. I explained that the original router, now over 8 years old, had failed years ago and had long since been replaced at our own expense. Despite this, they warned that we might still be charged for not returning it.

The entire process lasted more than 40 minutes. During that time, I had to reconnect to the chat 5 or 6 times, requesting a new authentication code every single time because the session kept timing out. Eventually, I was locked out completely with the message:

“You’ve entered the maximum number of codes. Please try again later or speak to us in live chat.”

Ironically, it was the live chat itself causing the issue.

So now I can’t even access the chat to complete the cancellation and may have to start the entire process again from scratch.

It should not be this difficult to cancel a service that is no longer being used. My request was simple: close an account after we had already moved to another provider. Instead, I faced repeated pressure to stay, transfer the account to someone else, or potentially pay for outdated equipment.

Overall, this was an unnecessarily stressful, exhausting, and poorly handled experience.

APPALLING SERVICE

If you’re considering purchasing a leased line from TalkTalk, think very carefully. Their customer service is, without exaggeration, the worst I have ever encountered. Having previously dealt with both BT and Daisy, I can confidently say they deliver a consistently professional and reliable service—something TalkTalk completely fails to do.

The level of incompetence, lack of accountability, and sheer disregard for customers is staggering. Basic issues are mishandled, communication is poor to nonexistent, and resolving problems becomes an exhausting battle rather than a straightforward process. For a company operating in a critical infrastructure space, this is simply unacceptable.

Frankly, it’s difficult to understand how TalkTalk is allowed to continue operating at this level. Their performance is not just disappointing—it’s a complete disgrace.

Stay away

I cannot express how criminal and calous this so called company are ,they are totally rude on phone and even try to charge you even when u are not using their product which are grossly overpriced and poor quality good riddance talk talk and hope you go bust

Talk Talk after verbally communicating…

Talk Talk after verbally communicating to me that they would not charge me a cancellation fee due to my services getting cancelled at the hands of their staff member and I decided that I just couldn't go on with Talk Talk.

I placed a verbal complaint to a manager, I was offered a £10 good will and was told it was credited to my account.

This was April 09 26.

Today I decided to make contact to see how we doing with this good will token to get told my token was deducted from my cancellation bill.

I have spoken with 3 different people in different teams.

Do yourself a massive favour stay far from this provider.

Time wasting wasters. St Nk.

When I came to cancel the service because I was selling my house I was kept on the telephone line for over 26 minutes. There were a few minutes checking my identity, that's fine but then endless up-selling or re-selling of their services which I do not require. I was put on hold for up to 3 minutes at a time whilst things were being checked or whilst someone went to find something. If I am charged for this 0345- call by my phone provider I will sue Talk Talk for this.

signed up for broadband and landline, the landline never worked and they did nothing to fix it, over charged me £300 and when I complained they kept saying a customer service rep would contact me, but they never did as they also with held my number from the new provider, how they are allowed to get away with their scam is beyond me, please do not bother with this company they are nothing more than scammers

Worst service ever avoid at all costs

I’ve been with this provider for two years and the broadband has never worked properly Over the last two months they contacted me three separate times to renew my contract and each time I clearly said no and asked them to terminate it

My contract was a one year agreement so after the last call when I was told everything would be closed I believed the matter was finally resolved once and for all

After that I received no confirmation in writing but I was assured over the phone that my account would be closed I kept my modem because I believed I might still need to return it

I recently moved house and since I had not been informed that I needed to return the modem I disposed of it just two days ago

Now a month after that call I have received an email saying my contract is still active and that I owe more than my usual monthly payment I had to spend 40 minutes on the phone trying to sort it out only to be told I still need to pay

The most frustrating part During that same call they told me if I do not return the modem they will charge me 75 pounds even though I was previously told everything was closed and I was never informed earlier that it needed to be returned

This has been an exhausting and incredibly frustrating experience I just want to end this service and not hear from them again I would strongly recommend avoiding this provider there are far better broadband options out there

Do not expect any help when there is a problem

Having been a customer ever since Talk Talk it took over AOL,s broadband service I was extremely disappointed with the response when I lost access to the internet. Hours on the phone to call handling staff repeating the same security questions over and over, going through the same procedures time after time, rebooting the router, trying an Ethernet cable ect, 2 engineer visits, promised return calls not being made, 30 + text messages... still no internet.. the icing on the cake was receiving a text saying my problem had been resolved 36 hours after I had cancelled my contract and returned the router!

Absolutely shocking service

Absolutely shocking customer service, no internet for 2 weeks, told time and time again that an engineer would attend!!, no one for 10 days, then needed a new router and that took another 4 days to come, Managers at talk talk do just that !! Talk!!, absolutely shameful service, will definitely be moving as soon as my contract is up, cause will now be charged if I want an early release!!! Annoyed beyond belief!!!

never deal with talk talk they rob you

never deal with talk talk, they take your money giving no reason, we paid them a bill on March 31st £37-91
March, then another bill on the 2nd of April, again £37-91, making that a total of £75.82, in one month, and still they are asking for more money, reason is we have changed over to another provided, their excuse is we have to pay before change over, when we signed the contract for talk talk, we was under the impression it was monthly, it now seems it is twice. month, anybody got any advise out there please recommend
