This is a scam I wasted a lot of time…

This is a scam I wasted a lot of time on. I distributed 23 releases with them, they blocked the artwork of ab024 which is Deepest Top, (I actually updated the coverart adding fonts to it)... Now they deleted my entire catalogue! I never heard from them, I have 1.36$ on my last report... Beware, this is a fraud

We recognize how challenging the current distribution landscape can be for artists. At Sugo Music Group, we’ve genuinely enjoyed your work—particularly your electronic, downtempo, industrial, and ambient compositions. Many of your tracks have played regularly throughout our office sound system. And yes, regarding "Deepest Top," we've especially appreciated its multi-layered ambient textures and rhythmic depth.

Over the past year, digital service providers have significantly tightened their compliance and editorial policies—particularly around rights validation, unlicensed beats and samples, and other editorial preferences. These actions were not initiated by our company but reflect enforcement decisions made by global DSPs. While DSPs may occasionally misattribute rights ownership, we understand that some artists may choose to explore alternative distribution options as a result.

Our records indicate that your agreement was formally terminated in May 2025. If applicable, your final royalty statement and payment are scheduled for the Q3/2025 royalty cycle, in accordance with our standard reporting schedule.

We remain committed to fairness, transparency, and industry compliance, and we appreciate your understanding as the digital landscape continues to evolve.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We completely understand how disappointing and frustrating it can be to have your music taken down from digital platforms. In recent months, DSPs have significantly increased their compliance requirements—particularly in areas related to music rights management, global copyright enforcement, and the prevention of artificial streaming.

This was not a decision made by our company, but rather the result of editorial preferences set by global digital service providers. At Sugo, we proudly represent all styles and genres of music. As an artist-centric company, we are committed to supporting our rights holders and always strive to act in their best interest.

Like all music distributors, we are required to follow these evolving standards and ensure that all content meets the legal and platform-specific guidelines needed to protect your rights and those of other creators. DSPs occasionally err in their assessment of rights ownership, and we understand that artists may choose to explore alternative distribution options when this occurs.

We also see that your contract was formally terminated in May 2025, and your final royalty statement and payment are scheduled to be remitted during the upcoming Q3 royalty cycle, in accordance with our regular reporting schedule.

We appreciate your understanding as the industry continues to shift, and we remain focused on ensuring compliance and fairness for all music rights holders.

Do not trust them

Been with them for about a year, had 3 albums, 1 EP and a few other songs with them. But a few weeks ago they removed all my music and never paid me without any excuse, best they could say is "industry changes". Do not trust them.

no answer policy

I have been with them for about four years, and I had around forty songs online. Then, I found out that all of my releases were taken down without notifying me. After I contacted support, they came up with some lies about changes in the music industry, and then support turned to its "no answer policy" again. They have never paid me a single cent in royalties. For example, one of my songs was put under a YouTube video; when I click on 'more' under the song, it shows El Grande Music Publishing (which is Sugo) and BMI. The video has over ten thousand streams, and my balance in my Sugo Music account has never gone over eight dollars in all these years, so it is obvious that there is something wrong. To keep it short: there is nothing you can do. They keep your money, they take down your whole catalog, and they don't answer support. They don't care about you, and the CEO, Daniel L., doesn't even use his own service for his music. He uses The Orchard instead. Think about it."

Disgusting Company

I honestly wouldn’t recommend Sugo Music Group. They advertise free distribution and publishing, but when you actually need them to do something, they don’t follow through. I asked them to take down my song, and they said they only do that at the end of the term. My song hasn’t even made any revenue yet, and I’ve done all the work—so why the hell are they acting like they own it? Feels like a scam, honestly.

Also, they push you to upgrade to an exclusive license just to get distribution, but they don’t promote you at all. I’ve seen other artists get promoted on Facebook, but not once did Sugo help me get any exposure. It’s pretty frustrating when you’re doing all the work, and they don’t deliver on their end.

To make it worse, they take 70/30 on royalties and 50/50 on publishing and UGC, while platforms like DistroKid and UnitedMasters give you 100% royalties. That’s a huge difference when you’re out here hustling to get your music out there.

And the cherry on top? The CEO doesn’t even use his own platform—he’s using The Orchard instead. That should tell you everything you need to know about how much they actually care about their artists.

There are much better platforms out there like DistroKid or UnitedMasters. They actually care about their artists, give you all your royalties, and deliver on their promises. Don’t waste your time with Sugo Music Group—you’re better off elsewhere.

SCAM-RIPOFF SUGO avoide at all cost.

I uploaded 14 songs to SUGO on a None Exclusive agreement.
I waited three weeks for them to distribute my songs but nothing was done to distribute my music.
I wrote and asked them why my songs were not being distributed and they replied that i must sign an Exclusive contract.
I then wrote and asked them to remove my songs and delete my account, the responded claiming i was under an exclusive contract for two years, even though i never agreed to this.
They are a Rip Off, A Scam and i strongly recommend you give them a wide berth, DO NOT USE THAT SERVICE.

We’re sorry to hear about your experience and appreciate the opportunity to respond.

We understand how important timely distribution is to artists. In this case, your submitted songs were flagged during our quality control review due to concerns about AI-generated vocals and production elements. As global digital service providers continue to tighten their content policies, many have become increasingly cautious about distributing AI-generated music—often resulting in delays or rejections during onboarding. These are platform-level decisions and are beyond our control.

Regarding the agreement, our records show that you accepted the terms of a non-exclusive distribution agreement, which allows rights holders to release their music with any distributor or DSP. That said, we respect your decision to discontinue, and your account has since been closed, with no content distributed and no royalties accrued.

Sugo Music Group remains committed to transparency, artist support, and ethical distribution practices. We proudly work with artists across all genres and backgrounds, and we take all feedback seriously as part of our ongoing efforts to improve service and communication.

Don't do it

I was looking for a publisher for my music I write a lot of songs and distribute a lot of it as well for multiple artist profiles. originally I was using Distrokid but I had an incident occur with them and lost everythingin my distrovault. I was also looking into the different revenue streams that artists can gain and wished to get all i could be owed as a artist. Sugo claimed to promote their artists help you get sync licensing and they act as your publisher giving you that extra Revenue stream. I was impressed when in the beginning it was someone from sugo music group called me on the phone well emails me first and then called me on the phone and had a long conversation with me telling me all about all the marvelous things they offer and could do and wanted to get to know me and what I do and see how they could help me.. I believed it. Well I started a label and I created another artist profile where I hired vocalists to cover my music for an award show where I'm a nominee in 4 categories. We created an album I went to Sugo to release this album well two weeks pass I start checking platforms and my music was everywhere but social media platforms the whole album was gone missing artist name didn't exist in any library. I emailed them and asked if there was a problem in the distribution side of things because it never hit social media. They claimed that Instagram tiktok Facebook Twitter had decided to decline my music with no reason. I contacted meta asking them about the situation.... They claimed they never received it. I contacted sugo told them what meta said they claimed meta lied. after being with Sugo for a year I got to wondering about my royalties. Now me personally distributors may offer the option for you to cash out once a month but I never do I do it once a year. With Distro in the beginning one artist profile with only 10 tracks I would cash out on average 30 to $40 a month according to my statistics there again I only cash out once a year. Sugo I decided to check I was ready to cash out I usually do this on the first of the year and i was shocked i owed $8. again that's with four artists profiles. Now I was under the impression that with a publisher I would make more than I would have prior with out one. That was not the case. I asked them about this I got no response at first I decided to email them every day and basically was told to read the exclusive contract I had signed. My impression is that one they're going to try to get your music out there as cheaply as possible even cut some corners like not distribute your album to all social media platforms where we do most of our marketing as artists. Now I asked how to gain a verified artist profile on Spotify for one of my profiles I was told they do not offer that by the grace of God I already had verified artist profiles due to my last distributor it sucks but I contacted Spotify myself and I was able to keep my verification thankfully. For another of my profiles I actually went through the back door and used a different distributor then contacted Spotify and then went to Sugo to load my music which I should not have had to do. As much money they have obviously made off of me and me receiving nothing you would think distribution would go smoothly and hit all platforms as promised you would think your artist profiles would be verified. You would think they would offer or actually follow through with their promise of artist promotions like where is the sync licensing it doesn't exist. And you would think as much money as they make off these artists including me that they would have way better customer service skills and would not lie I mean they called Meta Liars I mean meta the owners of Instagram and Facebook bruhhh. And out of all of that which is pretty bad the worst thing ever that happened with them is since they were acting as my publisher they had access to my library through my Pro BMI music I have literally nearly 200 tracks all together all profiles on BMI my Pro they all vanished except 14 I received no quarterly anything.

Sugo Music Group just removed my releases due to ‘industry changes’ and ‘legal reasons’

Originally, I've had rated this service with two stars, as the distributor was sorta messy when distribution issues were related to. However, I'm switching my rate to a single, damn star due to the following:

Just read a five-day-old email mentioning what others right here commented: the takedown of my music (I've had released three songs with them, with distribution issues as previously mentioned: early releases, wrong Spotify profile, not releasing to Apple Music due to 'cover guidelines', etc.). Seriously, couldn’t they be that greedier? Now I don’t even know if I won’t be able to re-distribute my music during the two-year exclusivity given to them from my agreement; also, my account has been deleted by them because of that. Also, cover any costs? Nah, they can all f—k off, I’m glad I’ve found a better distributor for my previous and upcoming releases: Ditto Music.
