★☆☆☆☆ — £15,000 spent and left without meaningful support during a family medical emergency

My experience with Stunning Holiday and AR Travel and Tours, who worked together on our Umrah booking, has been deeply disappointing. After spending approximately £15,000, I expected clear communication, suitable arrangements and practical support. Instead, I was left feeling misled, dismissed and emotionally exhausted.

We could not take our original outbound flight because of illness. I supplied doctors’ notes and supporting medical evidence and asked for help rearranging our travel. Despite providing this information, I was told the flights and accommodation were non-refundable and was not offered a workable solution.

I contacted the airline directly and was told changes were possible. However, the agent quoted an additional £900 per passenger—£3,600 for four people—for one-way flights. I therefore booked and paid for replacement outbound flights myself so we could still travel and perform Umrah.

Our return flights from Madinah to the UK have now also been cancelled, despite us travelling out independently. This has created further uncertainty and distress for my family.

The accommodation was another serious disappointment. They booked Anjum Hotel, and in my experience the walk to the Haram was approximately 15–20 minutes. That was unsuitable for our family, which included an elderly lady and two young children recovering from illness. The agents knew who was travelling because they arranged our visas and flights. We did not even check into the hotel.

If the hotel is described to you as “only a five-minute walk”, please check the actual walking route to the Haram entrance you intend to use. That description does not reflect my experience, particularly when walking with elderly relatives and young children.

I appreciate that tickets and accommodation can carry restrictions, and that changing travel arrangements can cost money. My complaint is about how our circumstances were handled: the lack of compassion, meaningful assistance and clear explanations when we needed support most.

An agent should help customers understand their options and work towards a solution. After paying approximately £15,000, I was left contacting the airline and arranging replacement travel myself.

Umrah is a deeply meaningful journey, and families place enormous trust in the companies organising it. That trust should be met with honesty, care and support, especially during a medical emergency.

Based on my experience, I would not book with Stunning Holiday or AR Travel and Tours again. I strongly advise anyone considering either company to reconsider and carefully verify the hotel location, fare restrictions, cancellation terms and medical emergency arrangements before paying. If you already have a booking, confirm the status of every flight directly with the airline and get any assurances in writing.

This experience has added considerable stress to what should have been a peaceful and spiritual journey for our family.

May Allah guide them to treat the families who trust them with greater compassion and fairness. We are all accountable for how we treat others.

Fantastic service start to finish- from booking our holiday we received ongoing updates about our flight, right up to getting onto the plane and the same on the way back would definitely be travelling through Stunning Holiday again

Amazing service. Always available and answered all questions promptly. First time going to Saudi Arabia with elderly parents was very nervous. Had nothing to worry about in the end everything was pre organised and on time.

This was our fourth Umrah package booked through AR Travel and as always, they did not fail to impress us with their outstanding service. The team accommodated for our selected dates and ensured that we got a really good package- Alhamdullilah, everything went exactly as planned. Rashid was extremely attentive to all the details and provided us with all the relevant information we needed in advance. Subsequently, everything was organised when we arrived in Saudi from the transfers to the accommodation.

Umrah package was booked for travel with my family. Service from start to finish was spot on. Rashid and his team was there every step of the way and made sure everything went smoothly with no issues. My mum was travelling in a wheelchair and both hotels provided was wheelchair friendly and the best room was given for her. Highly recommend you book with AR for all your travelling requirements

Booked full umrah package with AR for myself and my family. The experience from start to finish was faultless. There was regular communication from Rash and ample assistance whilst we were out in Mecca and Madina. Both hotels were as promised with the location being spot on. It made the journey very memorable and I will definitely use AR for future trips
