STASH Double Bergamot- Not! teabags. s
Promisingly their Double Bergamot tea bag smelled reassuringly strongly of bergamot. Unfortunately it somehow managed to completely disappear by the time it had become a cup of tea, and a pretty poor cup of box standard tea too. This quest for a decent Earl Grey tea bag to replace the Co-Op fairtrade one, that without warning, just disappeared from their shelves, and all the staff could tell me was that they were no longer selling it, and "No", I couldn't just buy up whatever they'd got left and put in the back. I realise that the global bergamot prices have risen, but along with the period before I discovered the co-op Earl Grey, I've probably tried 20 brands, each one promising the strong bergamot taste I'm looking for, which none have delivered. Most of the brands I'm trying now cost 50p a bag, some more, with the premium brands why can't they send a couple of sample bags? Because basically I feel like you honestly can't believe a word they're saying when describing what to expect. And my cupboard is full of awfully below par and dishonestly described non-Earl Grey tea bags. How on earth can something that smells so strongly of bergamot, double bergamot in fact, not transfer any of that taste into the cup of tea and lose it's smell too. Maybe just the inside of the individual bags have been "dabbed" with bergamot oil 🤔. I'd be happy to pay more in consideration of the higher prices. A bit of honesty would be wonderful too. Oh well, another box for the cupboard. Would it be worth me trying to contact the Co-Op's buyers and asking them where they got that tea from? Or which food banks or charities they gave all of the boxes they removed to? Well I hope they were passed on and didn't just end up in landfill?! Ooh, maybe I could find out the location of the landfill, desperate times, desperate measures......... or I'm just suffering withdrawal symptoms from the lack of bergamot. ☹️☹️☹️
