Extremely weird - They reach out to you and ghost you
I’ve had a particular recruiter reach out to me on LinkedIn with openings that are extremely well-matched to my experience. I share my CV and details and immediately get ghosted. This has happened 3–4 times now. Same person, same agency. I do not understand the point of cold reach-outs if you're not even going to have the courtesy to respond once you’ve heard back. Maybe they do it just to mine your data and collect CVs?
My latest reply to this recruiter was almost instantaneous. But still, she ghosted me, as if she hadn’t written a long message moments ago.
Scammers
Scammers! Dont fall for this, they earn by making you sign up on their website and get your personal information.
What a curious and unusual agency.
It's now over a year since I wrote them a review here, and it seems like nothing's changed: other recruiters at Sphere to Maeve who I was dealing with in the past seem to operate in very much the same way, always posting jobs, never replying to candidates.
It's impossible to get as much as an email let alone a phone call with anyone at Sphere, even if you're qualified for the role and respond immediately after a LinkedIn post goes live, or a couple hours after a job gets posted on a job board.
One, two, three times you could wonder - maybe just bad luck or bad timing, but if it's 20+ cases with multiple individuals, over more than a year, well, then it's a pattern, or an intentional mode of operation.
I've now heard many similar stories of ghosting from dozens of other candidates in 1:1 conversations, and public statements in the closed freelance/job searcher communities I'm in.
Sphere are generally increasingly blackballed amongst skilled candidates; the tendency is not to even bother with the agency as contact attempts and applications tend not to lead anywhere at all. That's what their lack of responsiveness and dismissive attitude has led to: qualified candidates are actively steering clear now, so as to save themselves the worry, stress, frustration and trouble - and time invested in fruitless applications.
FWIW, Their Google reviews sitting at 4.5/5 might be astroturfed. Interestingly enough, Trustpilot has a 1.5/5 average for Sphere now, with not a single positive/not a one-star review in the past 2 years and counting, and somehow Google is drowning in five-stars left for them every month in that period, all pretty much drowning out the occasional 1-star.
Make of that what you will.
Classic 'spray and pray' agency
This is genuinely the strangest agency I've ever dealt with.
I’ve lost count of how many “urgent role” emails I’ve received, demanding an immediate response, only to be completely ignored afterwards.
At one point, a recruiter even rang asking if I could fly to another country for a role the next day. Their hyper, erratic, and totally inconsistent communication made them incredibly difficult to deal with.
They show zero respect for the people they contact, especially considering many of us are in vulnerable situations, looking for employment.
It’s happened so many times that I’ve now genuinely considered blocking every recruiter from this agency, avoid.
Horrible Recruiting Agency Experience: A Warning
I'm sharing my incredibly frustrating experience with this recruiting agency. I actually knew one of their recruiters, Mary Haddad, from a successful job placement she secured for me when she worked at a different agency. Because of our past interaction, she was very familiar with my background, experience, and even had positive feedback from my last company, which unfortunately had to make my role redundant for restructuring. You'd think this would give her extra motivation to keep me updated on new openings.
Instead, I was completely ignored. Despite sending multiple private chat messages, submitting applications directly on the agency's website, and even commenting on her LinkedIn posts, I heard absolutely nothing. It's incredibly disheartening to be unemployed and ignored by someone who knows you, especially when they continue to post new positions on LinkedIn without ever responding to your inquiries or considering you. Mary finally replied about a month later with a response that was not entirely relevant, which was surprising given how well she knows my profile.
I had a similarly negative experience with her colleague, Jacquarn Nelson. He called me immediately after I submitted my CV for an open position, only to disappear for a month. After numerous attempts to reach him via calls and LinkedIn messages, he suddenly reappeared a month later. It seemed clear he was only getting back in touch because he hadn't found a suitable candidate for the role and decided to reconsider me. He apologized for the delay, and he scheduled an interview. However, once again, I had to repeatedly chase him for updates and feedback.
At this point, I believe this is a systemic issue within the agency. I strongly advise anyone, especially those in vulnerable positions, to avoid this agency.
Horrible recruiting agency, please avoid
Horrible recruiting agency, they don't ever reply to emails, requests for JD, LinkedIn comments or simple questions. They don't follow up with candidates after interviews/phone calls and their attitude is quite rude, dismissive and cold (I've spoken to a few of them and it seems like this attitude is policy company wide). Please avoid, there are much better recruiting agencies out there.
Contacted me when I didn't give them my details
Randomly got a suspicious text saying 'Hello.. are you working or are you free today?' And when I asked who it was it was Olivia from Sphere recruitment offering me a job opportunity 🤦♀️ I'm not jobsearching so no clue how they got my information, but it was obtained without my permission.
Hired by this company to do online…
Hired by this company to do online work. Did training but ended up being scammed.
DONT GO TO THIS AGENCY
POLICE INVOLVED
Contacted my mobile with “are you free…
Contacted my mobile with “are you free today” no intro, no explanation of where they got my details from - offering a remote role, this reeks of data harvesting to me and I am pretty sure this is a marketing not recruitment agency! I asked that they remove my number as I never gave them permission in the first place!
Spamming and manipulating
Spamming and manipulating, and I'm not even close to be their target market. So they just annoy people that shouldn't reach in the place. You really need to loose any self respect for your brand to hire this company
They reach out to me, then ghosting me....
I had never heard of this company before, but they reached out to me on LinkedIn regarding a UX contract role. I responded to their message within an hour, providing all the information they requested, including my CV and other details. However, after that, they simply ignored me and didn’t even acknowledge receipt of my email.
I understand that recruitment ghosting is an issue in 2024, but in this case, they initiated contact. I appreciate that there may be hundreds of applicants, but when a company reaches out first and I make the effort to respond, it’s basic courtesy to reply and let me know whether or not they intend to proceed, even if it’s just to say, “We’ve decided not to move forward because of...”
I find this behaviour extremely unprofessional and quite rude. It reflects poorly on their reputation and creates a negative impression of their organisation.
These kind of experiences are shared within the UX Network and then some candidates will avoid some companies due to this.
P.S. I've read some of the feedback on this page and it seems like I'm not the only one.
Don't waste your time
Submitted my CV on the company website. I was reached out to by a recruiter regarding 2 positions, in this call he did rush through and didn't do much to explain the roles or understand me as a candidate.
I put forward my interest in one of the positions, only to be ghosted. Ridiculous and unprofessional. Having followed up 2 more times, nothing.Eventually, when he did email back with a one line email stating he'd be in touch, he in fact did not.
Disgusting to see that this is a pattern based on other peoples reviews. No integrity what so ever. Do not promise to follow up with candidates if you cannot deliver. Shows poor management and structure. No candidate should be subjected to this.
I had the pleasure of working with…
I had the pleasure of working with Marnie Senior from Sphere Digital Recruitment and I cannot speak highly enough of her and the entire team at Sphere. Marnie's exceptional assistance was instrumental in securing my new role. She demonstrated professionalism, efficiency and expertise throughout the process. Marnie's guidance was invaluable and her dedication to finding the perfect fit for me was evident every step of the way. Her positive attitude and genuine enthusiasm made the journey enjoyable and rewarding. I am incredibly grateful for Marnie's and Sphere's support and I would highly recommend them to anyone seeking employment opportunities. Thank you, Marnie and Sphere, for your outstanding service!
awful company
awful company, full of arrogant consultants.
Inexperienced, rude poor communication
I was approached by them (Keesha Blundell) for a role and was then swiftly ghosted as they had obviously filled the role. I followed up with calls and emails and was ghosted until I got a brief email 11 days later to say the role had been filled. All the staff I spoke to seemed inexperienced, and one was actually quite rude. One time I tried to call, I got through to a random voicemail rather than reception.
An all-round poor experience with this company: ghosting, inexperienced, and rude staff. Not recommended.
Thank you!
Thank you to Dave Case!
I've recently started a new role and he was brilliant in helping me through the process.
He is approachable, personal, extremely knowledgeable and supported me throughout the application plus the successful interview.
Thank you Raff!
I’ve very recently started a new role with the help of Raffaela here at Sphere Recruitment. From start to finish, Raffaela was incredibly friendly, proactive and really took the time to understand what it was I needed from my next role.
I’ve always found it difficult speaking with recruiters as I’ve felt they’ve always put their priorities first. However if you’re lucky enough to work with Raffaela, I can confidently say you’re in safe hands.
I could not recommend a better recruiter to work with.
Thank you so much to Raffaela and the Sphere team, I’m now in a fantastic job and the future looks incredibly bright.
Exceptionally Professional!
It does seem that the entire team at Sphere Digital Recruitment are the best at what they do! I had a really great experience with Steph after she was introduced to me by Derick. She was so genuinely friendly, supportive, and dedicated to helping me secure a job that matched my expectations. Thanks so much for such an enjoyable experience working with you!
By far best experience with recruiters
I want to thank Grace Murphy for the amazing support she gave me during my job hunt. She always suggested relevant offers for me and always checked before and after the interviews to see how I was doing. I really appreciated this because it isn’t always the case with other agencies. I also appreciated the PowerPoints with helpful information about the interview and the advice concerning the recruiter’s expectations. Thanks to her I will definitely recommend others to contact sphere recruitment for help in job hunting.
Fantastic support
Sphere digital was great overall and Stephanie was instrumental in helping me land a great new role. From our very first interaction she was helpful and insightful. She offered advice, encouragement and was always quick to reply. I can honestly say that working with Stephanie removed a lot of the normal interview nerves and helped me perform at my best through the process. Thank you Stephanie and all the team at Sphere digital.
