Southdowns Motorhomes have gone above and beyond in all respects. Ben on the sales team, Simon on the handover and the service team have all given us five star plus service. Friendliness and efficiency doesn't get any better! Many thanks to all.

Just took delivery of our new Motorhome from Southdowns Motorhome Centre in Portsmouth, we live up North in Bolton Lancs, seems a Distance but worth it!!,
Through the whole process of agreeing PX price to collection was a breeze.
Through this process we dealt with Paul from sales who was spot on making the transaction seamless.
Initial thoughts/ concerns of the distance were eased by Southdowns who offer a Free 12 Months( Uk and overseas warranty) that runs alongside the Manufacturer warranty ( Burstner in our case).
We requested some factory extras to which Southdowns are managing ( will return to have installed).
The Handover was Chaired by Simon, who again was top notch, nothing was too much trouble, he explained and demonstrated everything in layman’s terms. We were not rushed and were totally as ease with Simon and Paul.
As we had a PX there were items to be removed/ swapped over, Keith from service was on hand to deal with this setting up the WI-FI and TV,s who again was great.
A Great Team effort,

Recently bought a new motorhome from Southdown and we are very pleased with the purchase. A friendly and knowledgeable team made this a most enjoyable experience. Minor issues post purchase dealt with quickly and efficiently by the brilliant service team.

Very good experience at Southdowns Motorhome centre. The purchasing process with Trudy worked well and we were kept informed as to progress. The handover process was excellent with Simon providing all the relevant information in a clear and helpful manner. Excellent service and great products.

I was trying to source some parts for our Harmony Line 690g, Southdowns got it absolutely right & sent me my bits in a day, great Service thank you much appreciated.

Had a problem with my IEXO IT640 bed…spent hours trolling the internet and trying unsuccessfully to reset / repair…. 3 hour drive to Portsmouth and to be honest Southdowns smashed it…… service manager Kieth great attitude and knowledge and we were on our way in 15 minutes…massive thank you Kieth and the team.

Popped in to pick up a few accessories for our Hymer Motorhome, one of which had to be ordered - carry bag for spare toilet cassette. Ash was super helpful, offered to order and forward within 7 days. Brilliant services, would highly recommend Southdowns.

I had an issue with my motorhome habitation door not opening from the inside. I discovered this while on holiday in the Isle of Wight and was concerned over the safety aspect this caused.
I arrived back in Southampton and decided it was worth a quick diversion to Southdowns for advice; they supplied the vehicle 30 months ago but I live in the West Country, so travelling for a specific issue is somewhat inconvenient due to the distance.
I arrived at the workshop, unannounced on a Friday afternoon and could not have been happier at the welcome I received.
Keith and Simon diagnosed the problem and talked me through the process of getting the problem sorted. They couldn’t have been more friendly and customer focussed if they tried; we were even offered refreshments but the friendly office staff.
My issue is now resolved and there was no need for parts or a booked visit, I am so pleased I decided to drop in to Southdowns and truly great full to Keith and Simon for their expert advice.

Very helpful parts department

I checked the website for a part for our motorhome table leg and it was in stock. We went down yesterday and despite saying the shop was open 9-5, it was closed for lunch We arrived at mid day and had to wait half an hour for it to reopen. The part wasn't in the shop. First the sales assistant claimed not to have heard of it (he clearly wasn't interested) but when I said it was on their website he looked it up and said, yes it was in stock but only in their warehouse. It doesn't say this on the website so we had a wasted journey and even more time wasted waiting for the shop to open. Parking is poor, luckily we don't have a massive motor home but eating our lunch on an industrial estate wasn't part of the planned day out. We would not return, either to the shop or for when we upgrade our motorhome. They get three stars because some of the other things we wanted were in stock but we didn't buy them as we didn't feel they really wanted our custom.

We took delivery of a brand new Burstner Lyseo Motorhome from Southdowns last Autumn. We think its a fabulous all round vehicle and starting to enjoy longer trips now the Spring is here. Both of the TV's and Soundbar stopped working and after completing the basics [fiddling / changing fuses etc] I spoke to Simon to see if we could fix it over the phone. Not successful, I took the vehicle in and Simon and the team [Hugo & Keith] hunted down the problem, resolved it and completed a small upgrade to better stop a future problem. Superb service and resolutions from Simon and the team - very impressed. Rob Evans

I have had my Elddis CV 20 serviced at Southdown Motorhomes for two years, I booked this years service in January and turned up at 0800 29th February to be told they can no longer service Elddis so had to return home. They had plenty of time to contact me. I then contacted Elddis direct who were most helpful and gave me details of a mobile service company. During my conversation I was informed that none of my service details and damp checks had been uploaded onto there system. Most disappointing.

We must give a big Thank You to Simon & Trudy for making this purchase and handover so stress free, nothing was too much trouble for the whole team to make our dream come true. I am not computer savy & was not made to feel stupid , no pressure sales & very pleasant & understanding people to deal with. THANK YOU

Ordered our new Burstner lyseo from salesman Rob Gould last November for a delivery date in March 2024. Rob was a pleasure to deal with. No pressure sales talk. All questions put to him answered honestly and knowledgeably. Very responsive to any demands that I put to him. A pleasure to deal with and you come away with the feeling that you have got the best deal that was available. A great buying experience unmatched by any car purchase experience I’ve ever encountered.
His help post purchase prior to collection was unprecedented.
Come day of collection in early March, Simon took us through the whole handover procedure.
Another fantastic experience. Nothing was too much trouble. As someone totally new to motor homing, and somewhat naive, nothing was too much trouble for him and his patience shown to me was timeless. Extremely knowledgeable, friendly and a great asset to Southdowns. He spent hours on the handover and even the day before when we called for accessories he gave his time up to recommend certain products that I had listed as essential requirements.
After collection, he made follow up courtesy calls to ensure all was well and responded promptly to my calls for reassurance.
A first class, professional and pleasurable buying experience from start to finish and can’t recommend them highly enough.

Caught the early train from the West Country to Southdowns M C to collect our new Baby Hymer. We received a warm friendly welcome and some well needed refreshments. We were shown our campervan and spent some time looking around it. The preparation of the van was excellent and to a very high standard.
Then along came Simon a very knowledgeable and entertaining man. Simon went through in great detail the operations of the various items of equipment and spent, time and patience going over some of the more complex items when requested.
Sum up, great experience and well down to Trudy and Simon, keep up the great customer service.

Simon provided great technical support for us when we had a problem with our boiler overheating while we were staying in Brighton last week. He was proactive in sorting it out - talking us through a hard reset on a video call. Afterwards he made follow up calls to ensure that it continued to run without failure. We were really pleased with his exceptional service. As first time owners of a Motorhome, his support has filled us with confidence. Thanks Simon!

Southdowns are very good at selling you a motorhome. And that's where it stops. I had major problems with the 2016 Cathago HV16RYK, (CAA 2K I purchased from them in April 2023). I purchased it for £90,000 and it's the worst purchase of my life! Firstly, it clearly had not been inspected at all before sale to me due to so many faults that had to be rectified...a long list. Within 2 weeks the gearbox stopped working properly. It was back at Fiat Portsmouth 3 times for more than 5 months in 2023. I understand from Ben Tosspell, the General Manager who has now left the business in Dec 2023 after 15 years (I can guess why) that over £12k was spent on the gearbox and every time I took the vehicle back it failed again within 2 weeks! I rejected the vehicle under statutory consumer rights in early Jan 2024. I had asked many times over the months for a Director of Southdowns to call me to discuss the situation, but they couldn't be bothered. The brothers who run this despicable business are Russell Ayling and Andrew Ayling (and btw, please check the company accounts for the company, they are shocking and will make you think twice about buying from them). Russell Ayling, eventually, after requesting many times, gave me a call in early January. After that he said matters like this can only be dealt with in writing and refused to answer calls! I couldn't phone him to talk to him after spending 90k and having 8 months of a nightmare with the mh I had purchased in good faith! They also offered to pay a hotel bill for me in Dec 2023 due to having the vehicle for 2 months and still not being able to return it. Later Russell Ayling told the accountant Mike McKenna not to pay the bill. They eventually paid it after much argument. I agree with other reports written here to absolutely avoid buying from this company at all costs. If you have a problem you will be put through so much continued stress and upset like I have been. They don't care one jot about their customers, as can be seen by the way some of the staff have to work and other reviews. There are helpful staff there, but not enough service back up and they are so difficult to deal with. Southdowns sold me a really duff vehicle for 90k! I sold it back to them this week just to reduce my stress levels. But I am 20k out of pocket over buying this motorhome and they don't care. Avoid this dealership at all costs, and especially the motorhome I purchased as they are now trying to sell in again to the next unsuspecting customer! I will probably buy another mh but I will never go near Southdowns at any time in the future.

Exceptionally professional, kind and caring business full of really friendly and welcoming staff, full of expert advice and deliver a great service all around, we recently purchased a new motorhome through southdowns of which the entire process was a delight ! Nothing was left to be desired at all, both me and my wife couldn't thank the team enough for supplying us with our dream van, working hard to ensure our handover was the best it could be, If your in 2 minds about where to come to purchase your motorhome look no further !! Work is outstanding and the after care support is brilliant !!
