FRAUDULENT Billing & Verbal Deceit - €62 for 7 Liters of Gas!
I am writing this to warn all travelers using SIXT at Belgrade Airport (Reservation: 9522449028). This branch is using predatory sales tactics and deliberate verbal misrepresentation to scam customers.
I specifically asked the agent in BOTH English and Serbian if there were refueling fees. I was explicitly told multiple times that the service was "free of charge" and I would only be billed for the gasoline I actually used. Based on this verbal assurance, I signed the agreement.
The result? I drove only 139 km (Renault Clio, 5.3l/100km consumption). I used approximately 7.37 liters of fuel (market value ~€12). SIXT charged me €62.15.
This means they charged me over €8.40 per liter—nearly 6 times the market price—by sneaking a "Prepaid Fuel" option into the contract that I was told was a free service. This is not a "misunderstanding"; it is a calculated act of fraud in two languages.
I have documented the mileage (50,265 km) and the 6/8 fuel level at return. I have already:
Filed a formal complaint with the Serbian Market Inspection (Tržišna inspekcija) at Omladinskih brigada 1.
Initiated a chargeback via my bank for fraudulent misrepresentation.
Escalated to the Tourist Inspection.
Sixt Global: Do not give me a template response about "signed contracts." A signature obtained through verbal deceit is legally void under the Serbian Law on Contracts and Torts (Art. 60). Refund the €50 overcharge immediately.
Attenzione agli addebiti per danni già presenti
Invogliato dalla tariffa allettante per il noleggio di un furgone per 1 giorno, provo questo nuovo servizio dell'operatore Sixt.
Personale molto gentile, che tuttavia mi consegna le chiavi senza fare nessuna ispezione al mezzo insieme a me.
"Il veicolo è nuovo" mi dicono.
La mia formazione professionale mi porta a fare, a prescindere, una accurata ispezione al mezzo e questo è un bene: trovo infatti diversi danni evidenti, che fotografo con cura e facendo attenzione ad inquadrare generale e particolare.
Immagino che, probabilmente, essendo danni non occulti ma anzi ben evidenti, saranno già stati censiti.
Ed invece mi sbaglio.
Dopo la restituzione del mezzo (l'agenzia era chiusa ed ho lasciato le chiavi in un caveau apposito) mi arriva una comunicazione dove vengo informato che l'addetto ha riscontrato dei NUOVI danni.
Nella lettera mi chiedono se ho fatto delle foto e, del caso, di caricarle tramite un form online.
Procedo nel senso e per qualche giorno tutto tace.
Successivamente mi arriva una nuova richiesta dove vengo invitato ad esibire delle foto con il "timestamp" evidenziato.
Ora, è utile sapere che le foto che riproduce uno smartphone hanno spesso i dati exif editabili, tra cui anche data ed ora, per cui sono quanto di meno affidabile possa esistere a meno di non fare una perizia forense sul dispositivo.
Tuttavia le carico aggiungendo anche la schermata con i dati GPS di dove sono state scattate, sperano che non mi vengano opposte considerazioni "strane".
Passa qualche giorno e mi arriva lo "scarico" della procedura, ovvero mi scrivono che non sarebbe seguito alcun ulteriore addebito.
La domanda che mi pongo è: ma cosa sarebbe successo se non avessi scattato quelle foto? Probabilmente avrei dovuto pagare la parte di franchigia che prevede l'assicurazione, che con la formula completa ammonta alla rispettabilissima cifra di 350 euro e che l'utente si impegna a corrispondere alla società di noleggio in caso di danni al veicolo.
Per questo motivo vi raccomando la massima attenzione.
Riempite di foto il veicolo prima di prelevarlo, chiedete di vedere la carta dei danneggiamenti precedenti e fatevene rilasciare copia, e fate la stessa procedura quando lo restituite.
E questo perchè non si è mai abbastanza premuniti contro la disonestà di taluni soggetti.

They trick you into signing your agreement before you see the car claiming it is a new car and has no damage - then they immediately find the damage on your return claiming you have caused it…. Having read the reviews sadly others have experienced the same tricks
There are other local car hire places use them instead !!!!!!

Hice reservación atraves de Hotwirer en Six rental Car's para el 06/06/24. 5pm Me recogió el Shuttle muy amable y profesional el que nos buscó al aeropuerto, al llegar al local todo súper empleados muy eficientes hasta que me pidieron evidencia de seguro se lo entregué (waive) por mi tarjeta de crédito lo cubre me exige la chica que tenía que añadir un seguro a terceros le indicó que solo quería lo que cubre mi aseguradora que si eso era obligatorio me indica que la política de la compañía era que si no lo añadía no me podían rentar. Le indico vengo de turista pero yo soy de aquí no me pueden obligar y muchas gracias por la atención pero considero injusto que te quieran obligar a pagar $14.00 diario que solo les favorece a ellos.entiendo el riesgo, pero es mi asunto, Suerte que tengo familia en Puerto Rico y me buscaron. Pero y los que solo vienen a vacacionar y no conocen a nadie.

Mi esperienza con il servizio di SIXT è stata estremamente deludente. Purtroppo, ho notato una serie di problemi ricorrenti che mi portano a concludere che il loro servizio non sia all'altezza delle aspettative.
Innanzitutto, ho notato che i veicoli presentano frequentemente graffi e danni, quindi non sono mai in perfetto stato. Ciò che è ancora più frustrante è il fatto che, nonostante questi danni siano già presenti, è richiesta la mia responsabilità di annotarli nel sistema, il che è una procedura complicata e poco chiara, soprattutto considerando che spesso avviene al buio dei parcheggi.
Inoltre, ho notato una mancanza di manutenzione sui veicoli, poiché i graffi e i danni non vengono mai riparati. Questo è particolarmente fastidioso quando mi viene addebitato un importo esorbitante per un danno che potrebbe non essere stato causato da me. Mi sembra quasi una tattica per estorcere denaro in modo ingiustificato (500€ per una graffio).
Sono estremamente deluso da questa situazione, specialmente considerando che ho utilizzato i servizi di SIXT più di trenta volte in passato. Tuttavia, dopo questa esperienza, non ho intenzione di utilizzare più i loro servizi.
Ciò che rende ancora più triste la situazione è il comportamento contraddittorio dei dipendenti. Da un lato, mi chiedono di lasciare recensioni positive, ma poi mi trovano a dover fronteggiare addebiti ingiustificati per danni preesistenti.
Consiglierei vivamente di evitare questa azienda.
Don't ever rent for SixT car rental
Don't ever rent for SixT car rental. Totally out of synch with the car rental sector. Small, nearly invisible rock chip on windshield was not mentioned upon return of vehicle. Nearly two months later received a bill for over 2000 Euros for damage, and SixT rapidly escalated this to a collection agency. Truly awful company. AVOID!!!

A very irritating company, slow check out and scam damage reporting
A very irritating company. Their saving grace is that they typically have some of the best-equipped rental cars. But it stops there. No rental company is as poor administratively in time taken to pick up a car - never less than 15 minutes. Compare that to Hertz, National etc with walk up and drive! Also take careful library of pictures as they make their money charging for non-existent damage (eg I had a 10 cm scratch, not even to base coat, on front spoiler of one car and they claimed 1700 Euros!!! They then put collection in hands of a German scam collection agency, Paigo (look at reviews!!!) who then fails to credit your account after payment. To be clear, I am/was Diamond with Sixt, rented in Italy, Germany, France, Austria and UK, and the service experience was consistently awful (and decent cars is not sufficient 'reward'!!)

You will regret booking with SIXT
SIXT continue their dishonest ways as per many reviews below. For us, we arrived in Seville train station looking forward to 9 days in Seville and the coast, having splashed out on an Audi Q3 SUV. On check in, they said a UK driver’s license now requires an International driver’s license.
While this in itself may or may not be a scam, all correspondence for my booking said nothing about this. When I pointed this out to them, they just said I cannot have the car - end of story. Not even an apology.
I then asked every single other car hire company (Europcar, Alamo, National, Hertz, Caddy etc.) and they did not have this requirement.
I asked for a refund and was charged USD110 cancellation fee.
I’ve not been asked for an international drivers licence for well over 15 years in the approximately 15 countries all over the world where I have hired cars.
Overall terrible service that cost me 6 hours to rent a car elsewhere (Europcar was good), and since I was booking last minute I paid a few hundred euros more for a less good car.
So they cost us 6 hours of our holiday, over 300 euros and a downgraded car. AVOID!

I recently hired a car from them, it was a lovely car with no problems. When I returned it everything was fine and they said they will contact me if there were any issues.
I returned the car back 2 days earlier and they confirmed they will refund me the 2 days.
A couple of days later I had a invoice charging me £252 and they took it out of my account without my knowledge or consent.
Straight away I called the car company and they said they cannot help with the issue as it would be down to the finance team that charged me. I asked for someone to contact and they would only give me an email address and no one to speak to. I emailed 5 times and still no response or reply into why I was charged.
I constantly called up the store and every person I spoke to was very unhelpful and would only give me the email address I had already contacted.
I am now down £252 without knowing why.
I am angered to the fact no one is giving any information into why this has happened and they dont seem to care.
Please do not use them!
Don't use Sixt car rental
We booked with Sixt. After my plane reservation changed I called in. The CSR asked for the driver's DOB and entered it in wrong resulting in an "underage charge" I called and emailed and they had a "ticket" in progress. I emailed again since I'd heard nothing more and now they tell me I'll have to wait to fix it AFTER I return the car. NOT OK.
Absolutely terrible in every aspect
Absolutely terrible in every aspect. I rented a Mercedes from Miami airport from this company and soon as I got in it reaked of weed and only had a quarter tank of gas. So I rented this car for our honeymoon and an hr drive to our resort, the engine light came on, a service reminder came up and realized the car said 0% oil life left. So the next day because it took that long to get s hold of someone they sent me to a shop to get it service. So first full day of my honeymoon I spent 7 hrs getting the car fixed that I had to pay for. As time went I was so upset about wasting a full day on my honeymoon that I cannot get back that all I asked for was a refund of what I paid for the car nothing more nothing less. They do not have a customer service after almost 3 weeks trying to talk to someone on the phone. Its only email which is a joke, they respectfully declined my refund with no reason. So I lost out on a thousand dollars and am still trying to get a hold of someone. Giving a person a car with no oil puts someone at danger. If the engine were to seize up in the middle.of the freeway we could of been hurt. So they let employees do drugs in the car and don't give a care at all for the cars and service. Garbage I have contacted the better business bureau and my lawyer is trying to contact them as well. Hope the place closes down!

Sixt El Calafate Argentina. Volviendo desde El Chalten hacía El Calafate se encendió una luz en el tablero del auto que alquilé con Sixt, lo detuve y llamé a la oficina, me lo cambiaron, al devolverlo me cobraron $ 61201 por el total de la franquicia por avería de motor, incluso me informaron que no sabían que había pasado con un informe de taller. Exijo que me devuelvan la totalidad ya que no tuve yo ninguna responsabilidad, es evidente que me dieron un auto en malas condiciones.

Sixt car rental Italy - don’t use them!
Paid in advance ten day car rental from Pisa airport with Sixt Italy, returned on time, clean and tank full, told all was ok and that confirmation would be emailed. Which it was - but to detail an extra £130 taken without prior warning from my credit card, as follows: for an extra day, which we hadn’t had; plus what seems to be an upgrade (‘oneri automobolistica’), which we neither had nor requested;plus daily charge for extra driver, which they offered us but without saying there was a fee for it (which I’d never experienced previously); plus a ‘local supplement’ (indeed!!). No reply option on the email nor customer service contact, though friendly local (Liverpool) Sixt office did provide one, so my warning is re Sixt Italy only (I’d used them elsewhere and no problem). Have requested my bank to dispute this.But SIXT ITALY, NOTABLY PISA AIRPORT - TO BE AVOIDED!
To be fair, after this was posted, they refunded half the disputed amount, but the dispute wa a long one.

Al devolver el coche te retienen el deposito 28 dias.Si llamas para reclamar ponen tu no número en una lista negra negra y nunca mas te atienden en atención a clientes. Exigen que te comuniques por e mail cuando estés de viaje y a lo mejor no tienes wifi. Operadoras que mienten diciendo que no hay atención al cliente por teléfono cuando acabas de hablar hace diez minutos...
