They offered me a manual for a ceramic hob. When I paid the £1.49 charge and went to my account space (a) in several hours the manual was not provided (b) they don't offer manuals for home appliances. Most importantly, you have to catch that within 72 hours you will begin a £24.99 per month subscription unless cancelled (which I did). Companies like this fuel the cynicism associated with online subs

UPDATE:As requested by them in the message below I contacted them. They stated that I have cancelled my premium membership so they won't help me.
DO NOT USE THESE GUYS! They have no souls and are as corrupt as they come!!
My husband downloaded a manual for £1.
He didn't realise there was a monthly charge...£24.90 going out of his current account for a year (he was unable to log into his online banking account. He is a pensioner and had misplaced his password)
This company states it was clear that this would happen..
Good to see how many bad ratings this company has received.

There was no manual there.
Given all the negative reviews there were only 2 places online which I could find who claimed to have a manual for the machine I had bought second-hand. This was the cheaper option so I thought I would risk the £1.49 but there was no manual there and I was presented with a 25,000+ list to scroll through which appeared to be in no particular order and a very limited search facility of category - which did not have an option for my subject matter, only cameras, watches, and computer things, etc - around 8-10 options, and so I didn't even get to the second box which was for Brand name. I had been sent an email with a password code but I couldn't find anywhere to put the details in on the website. I am not happy and I am sick to death of untrustworthy people infiltrating decent society and spoiling life for other people and causing us to have to spend our life in fear of being ripped-off. Of course it is obvious from the website, so my gamble simply confirmed what was obvious.

I ordered an instruction manual and got generic set of safety recommendations, useless. Also found that I had not purchased a one off but taken a subscription at an exorbitant price. This stinks of a scam, do not use this service

This is additional information on my experience with SecondManual.
November 11th 2024 I required a manual for one missing I believe it was for a watch.
So I logged on to the internet checking out various Webb sites. I selected one that believed would be ok found the manual priced at £1.49 I thought was a fair price there’s was no fancy design Webb site and and as far as I was aware NO information regarding that after 3 days if I didn’t request I would be charged £24.90 a month, this charge was NOT clearly stated at the time I ordered the Manual. I NEVER RECEIVED an email confirmation of this charge and 3 Days later SECONDMANUAL charge my credit card £24.90 (this 3 days limit to cancel is illegal in the UK it’s 14 days).
It was until May 2025 that in checking my credit card statement I noticed this charge had been going on. I NEVER needed another manual so why would anyone agree to this charge, they have your card details and the 3 day limit is a scam to take an advantage of a person’s vulnerability online an exorbitant amount too. I have never had the reason to ever use their services.
7 months they have stolen money from me.
I am at the moment in dispute with my credit card company over this charge on how they conduct their online service.
Reading the reviews on Trustpilot there are 292 reviews all 1 star all complaining a similar charge so it’s not just me just one person but 292 there has to be a problem with SECONDMANUAL the way they are operating.

I thought I had placed a one-off order and like many others who have written reviews here found myself caught up after only four days in a monthly subscription of over £24 - a ridiculous amount for ordering replacement manuals only now and then. It is very underhand

I ordered a manual for a Samsung freezer as we had a water leak and thought I could fix it myself. I had to chase them to get the manual and when I got it it was next to useless so I called in a repairman - I should have done that earlier. Like everybody else, I was shocked to discover I was being charged the £24.90 per month - absolutely disgusting practice

Like many other customers I ordered a manual for my sewing machine at a cost of £1.49. I did receive the correct manual. Then my credit card was charged with a monthly subscription of £24.90. I definitely did not agree to this but as another customer said it was included in their terms and conditions. I would say this is a scam. With a lot of websites you have to tick the T & C box in order to proceed. Signing up for a subscription should not be part of the terms and conditions. This should be a separate section on the website.

I ordered Zand paid for one manual. Then I found out that they have charged me over £24 a month(for 2 mths) for a subscription I did not order.
When I rang they were unconcerned.
Terrible company, do not get caught out like me.

A 1.49 manual.... perfect.
2 days later, a non returnable 24.99 subscription charged.
Secondmanual have informed me that this is monthly for 3 years, I have now cancelled.
PLEASE BE AWARE AND DO NOT ACCEPT T's & C's as this unscrupulous ploy is attached to that agreement.

They claimed they had the manual I was searching for. In good faith I paid the £1.49 and the manual that downloaded was NOT the manual. It was a completely different kind of product. I was misled obviously to trap me. Then on the confirmation of payment email it was stated that if I did not unsubscribe in 72 hours they would start charging me £24.09 per month. That was not stated when I merely paid the £1.49! What sort of company is it that claims to have the manual you search for, charges for it and then sends a completely different manual that bears no resemblance to the one offered? And on top of that underhandedly charges £24.09 per month thereafter. If you do not unsubscribe. Nowhere was this stated beforehand!. How I can trust their honouring the unsubscribe and further passing on my details to others? Totally untrustworthy company bordering on a scam. Avoid at all costs. Not worth any stars. In fact minus stars!!

I also fell in to they conning trap brought what I thought was a Manual for £1.49 in April and then thought no more about it, I then failed to notice their monthly deductions of £24.90 for the last 5 months (I know my own thought for not checking account) I then cancelled to payment on the 18th of this month once I noticed and received an email saying Thanks for cancelling your subscription (the subscription I knew nothing about) I then phoned the company on the 19th to be told I had signed up for the subscription and couldn't have my money back, I tried arguing with them and was told they would cancel July payment, but they still took the payment which my bank are now disputing but there is little chance I will get my other payments back! I am now going to try other ways to get it back, I have already contacted BBC Watchdog and will endeavour to contact as many TV consumer programmes and social platforms as I can to try and expose this company underhanded methods! PLEASE DON'T USE THIS SITE!

£1.49 was paid for a washing machine manual to be printed out over the internet, it was paid for by credit card.
We went travelling for 3 months and as we had not used the card since we had left the UK we did not check our statement on the monthly bases as we would normally do.
On our return we discovered we had been charged £24.90 for a further 4 months, an extra £99.60 over the original price.
This company is a scam.

I fell into the trap like everyone else! I got an email (I expect we all got that same one) which claimed the charging process was clear but obviously it was not. I have been cheated out of £48 and I will try and expose the company and get my money back.

The same as the other reviewers, bought a manual for £1.49 and then noticed £24.90 taken from account. Immediately contacted my bank and cancelled card, then sent very strong email demanding my money back and when that didn't work phoned them and threatened them with legal action if they did not refund my money.
I also suggested in the strongest terms that they updated their website to show in VERY LARGE LETTERS that the £1.40 was for a trial run and if we didn't tick a certain box more money would be taken.
Incidentally, I didn't receive the booklet, rang up to complain and then they sent me a booklet that I could have gotten online for free!
Do not tolerate their behaviour. Tell them you will contact CAB and the Consumer Protection People and anyone else you can think of.

Same as the others. Charged £1.49 and then noticed a £24.90 charge a few days later. What a scam! I called for help with one appliance issue. Why would I agree to a subscription for a one time use ?! DO NOT USE THEM. (I immediately cancelled this "subscription" on their site.)
