Great Experience with Salvatore Performance

I was interested in buying a second hand Corsa I saw on Autotrader, and from the first enquiry to purchase and delivery, Adam has been great. He answered all of my questions, booked a really prompt viewing, allowed me plenty of time to view and mess with the car, and took it on a good test drive. His calm demeanor, honesty and integrity is exceptional, and it really didn't feel like I was being sold to, because the car and price sold itself. Positive LR Defender Buying Experience

My very poor experience

On 29th September, I commenced my very unhappy car purchase journey with Salvatore Performance.

I write this review to warn potential buyers, that I have found this business to be far from reputable and all the assurances on their web site to be marketing ‘words alone’, as the subsequent actions to resolve a fault that was present at the time of purchase have been totally unsatisfactory and his responses nothing else other than dismissive. It has now cost me over £2700 to rectify.

So, my Jaguar was supplied to me with a failed battery, and a badly leaking and failing differential (not evident at the time of purchase).

Salvatore resolved the battery issue. However, the two previous MOT’s specifically warned of oil escaping from the differential (on 24/01/24 and 03/02/25), and he assured me that it had been serviced since those findings. I looked under the car in October, and found blackening in the underside rear end exhaust. I brought this to Salvatore’s attention, and he responded that it was likely an exhaust bracket. (I am no mechanic, and I foolishly accepted his word)

2 months later, I was making a longer journey when I noticed an increasingly loud whining from the rear end, and so I drove it to my local Jaguar Specialist in Kent, who advised me that the differential had completely failed and that I should stop driving immediately.

I advised Salvatore on 10th December and sent the garage report a few days later. His response was that I should take it away from the JLR Specialist. and leave it on his driveway in an Uxbridge housing estate on 29th January for him to investigate. I was offered no indication that he would rectify the fault, and he offered no recovery to transport it there (from Kent), and he offered no courtesy car for the 6 week period. A classic fob-off in my experience, and one that I felt would just add more and more to my inevitable bill. As such, I instructed my local Jaguar specialist to replace the differential at a cost of £2733 (the crown wheel had shattered, likely due to lack of oil).

I have written to him twice, and I have had one response advising me he refuses to compensate me for my repair cost, with several completely ridiculous excuses for justification.

Salvatore’s web site states:
“All vehicles come with a comprehensive 3 month engine and gearbox warranty”
“Each client is treated with integrity, honesty and professionalism”
“We have extremely high standards “
“All servicing and checks is carried out independently. This ensures that the maintenance of our cars is carried out to the highest manufacturer standards”

I have found NONE OF THESE CLAIMS TO BE TRUE

I really urge any potential buyers to be extremely cautious about trusting this car dealer. I did, and it has cost me a great deal that I will now have to recover through SMALL CLAIMS COURT

Andre. We wish we never sold you our super clean Jaguar F Type as you are someone who has no care for maintenance of a performance car and clearly uses and abuses them. Below we have outlined the objective facts of the entire experience and I hope, as a young business owner that you are, that you take great lessons from this and to not repeat what you did with us to another company.

For transparency to prospective customers, we set out the relevant facts regarding Andre’s review:

1. Andre purchased the Jaguar F-Type from us after following our TikTok page where we had sold several F-Types that month. The vehicle was sold to him £1,500 below the market price, as he secured the car with a deposit before it was listed for retail sale.

2. Andre operates a car detailing business and therefore has familiarity with vehicles within the same industry. Prior to purchase, he inspected the vehicle twice with his father, conducting a thorough examination, including the vehicle's full service history, the invoice evidencing a differential oil service carried out by the previous owner in March 2025 following an MOT advisory. Andre acknowledged receipt and proceeded with the purchase.

3. Shortly after purchase, Andre had the vehicle inspected by his own Jaguar specialist and contacted us claiming the battery was weak. Despite not providing a voltage reading, diagnostic report or invoice for a replacement battery, we nevertheless sent him money as a gesture of goodwill in order to resolve the matter promptly.

4. At that stage we even offered Andre the opportunity to return the vehicle for a full refund, which he declined stating that he has had the vehicle comprehensively inspected at his Jaguar Specialist and was very happy with it. Instead, he accepted the goodwill payment and continued to use the vehicle.

5. Approximately three months later and after around 1,400 miles of use, Andre contacted us again claiming the rear differential had failed and requested approximately £2,700.

6. It is important to note that Andre had the vehicle inspected by his own Jaguar specialist shortly after purchase on the 17 October. Additionally, Andre is a member of the same Jaguar owners’ Facebook group as ourselves and publicly posted photographs of the underside of the vehicle along with his specialist’s findings:

"Thank you, everyone just take it to a jaguar specialist and they said it is condensation and discoloured. No sign or chance of oil. Thank you, everyone."

7. This public statement made by Andre at the time directly contradicts the suggestion that the vehicle was supplied with a pre-existing differential oil issue.

8. Nevertheless, because we go above and beyond for our customers, we requested that the vehicle be returned to us so that it could be inspected and, if necessary, repaired through our Jaguar specialist. This email was completely ignored.

9. Andre did not return the vehicle for inspection and did not provide the requested information. Instead, without our knowledge, he chose to carry out repairs through a third-party garage without allowing us the opportunity to verify the alleged issue.

10. Subsequently, Andre forwarded us the bill and from his latest letter, attempted to blackmail us by demanding if we do not reimburse him for the bill, he will leave a negative review.

11. We work extremely hard to source high quality vehicles. We operate a dedicated Salvatore Performance TikTok and YouTube page which openly documents the behind the scenes process of sourcing our stock, including interactions with previous owners and inspections prior to sale. This level of transparency is uncommon in the industry and allows prospective customers to see exactly how our vehicles are acquired and presented.

12. Unfortunately, on occasion we have to deal with very entitled and unfair individuals like Andre who take kindness for granted.

Serious concerns about review authenticity and concealed faults

I am writing this review to correct repeated misinformation published by this dealer in response to my previous reviews.

Despite their continued attempts to discredit me, the core facts have never changed, and I will restate them clearly and calmly:

1. The seat defect was reported immediately
I first reported the driver’s seat issue on 14 March, six days after purchase — not “two months later” and not in May. I have written evidence of this. Repeating an incorrect timeline does not make it true.

2. The seat was not “minor wear”
The driver’s seat was structurally broken and had been freshly glued together to conceal the damage. This was confirmed once inspected. It was not repairable and required replacement at significant cost. This is not cosmetic wear and tear — it is a concealed defect present at sale.

3. Additional faults were later discovered
After professional servicing, further issues surfaced that were not disclosed at the time of sale. These faults were not obvious on casual inspection, reinforcing my concern that problems were actively concealed, not missed.

4. The “father verification” story is false
My father did not verify the car, did not contact Mercedes-Benz Head Office, and had no involvement in the purchase decision. This claim has been repeated publicly by the dealer despite being untrue.

5. Mileage after purchase is irrelevant
The number of miles driven after purchase does not change the fact that defects existed at the point of sale and were reported immediately. Attempting to shift focus to mileage is a distraction from the original issue.

6. Pattern of deflection
Rather than addressing the defect itself, every response focuses on paperwork, mileage, tone policing, and repeated accusations — while avoiding the simple question:
Why was a broken, glued-together seat sold without disclosure?

I am posting this so future buyers can make an informed decision. I stand by my reviews and can substantiate my claims if required. I will not be engaging further

We are disappointed to see that you have returned 2 years later to publish a second negative review having completed a further circa 11,000 miles on your Mercedes C-Class since purchase, making further unfounded accusations about your purchase experience. If your reviews are all in relation to cosmetic issues which were all evident at the point of purchase on a nearly 10 year old car, then it clearly seems like the vehicle sold to you was of a fantastic quality.

For clarity:

1. You purchased a one-owner, 2016 Mercedes C200 Coupe, accompanied by comprehensive documentation, including an 8-year Mercedes-Benz service and warranty plan, detailing the vehicle's meticulous maintenance history. This is an exceptional level of service for a vehicle of that age.

2. The vehicle underwent a service and inspection at Mercedes-Benz immediately prior to your purchase. This, along with the vehicle’s history, was verified at the time.

3. At the point of purchase, you made it clear that your father had close ties to Mercedes-Benz Head Office and that you personally arranged for the vehicle’s history to be verified through him. You were satisfied with the verification and proceeded to purchase the vehicle.

4. Following collection of the vehicle, you left a 5-star review, reflecting your initial satisfaction with both the vehicle and our service. We hold a verified copy of this review from Trustpilot, contrary to your repeated public claims that you never left such a review. This is clear evidence that many of the statements you continue to publish are inaccurate and misleading.

5. Two months and over 2,000 miles later, you contacted us on a Sunday evening, providing a picture of minor wear on the driver’s seat bolster, a common occurrence on used vehicles of this age and mileage. You followed up hours later threatening to change your 5-star review to a negative one if we did not respond immediately. As a professional business, we do not respond well to threats or blackmail, but we still replied first thing on Monday morning.

6. Despite this, you chose to publicly attack our business, making false claims regarding concealed faults and dishonesty, none of which are supported by the vehicle's service history, independent Mercedes-Benz records, or your own verified 5-star review at the time of purchase.

It is important to note that this was a used, 8-year-old Mercedes-Benz C-Class with 71,000 miles. Minor cosmetic wear is expected and outside the control of any seller. Nevertheless, we were willing to assist you further, but your aggressive and misleading public behaviour made that impossible.

We stand by the quality of our vehicles and the integrity of our business. We take all customer concerns seriously, but we cannot allow false public statements that misrepresent the facts and damage our reputation to go unchallenged.

Adam at Salvatore Performance was extremely helpful, well-mannered, honest and very patient. I have yet to come across a dealer who I can confidently say I can buy from blindly. I travelled 4 hours to see this car and meet Adam, had I met Adam before the journey, I would have purchased and arranged delivery without the need to inspect or test drive the car. Highly Recommended

Imagine your clutch dies and you are left having a mechanical AND mental breakdown.

This is after emerging from an 11 year relationship so you are already in tatters.

So you opt to buy yourself something special to alleviate your angst. Cue Adam, who was super -helpful and offered much-needed advice when purchasing my new car.
