My experience at RU Austin
My experience at RU Austin
I can’t say this is the absolute "best" rehab out there because it’s the only one I’ve ever been to, but it was exactly what I needed. One and done for me. If I ever had to go back to treatment, though, it would definitely be RU.
What Stood Out
The Staff & Counseling: I found the people here incredibly helpful. A special shout-out to my counselor, Lindsay, at RU 969 in Austin—she made a massive impact.
The Music Focus: It’s not strictly a 12-step program, which was a huge plus for me. There are lots of groups and activities centered around music, including live bands on Saturdays.
The Lifesaver: They give you an MP3 player and let you keep it with you. But, I took my own. Having my own music to listen to made all the difference in the world.
The Food: The food was actually pretty good—good enough that I managed to put on 20 pounds while I was there!
The Challenges
Age Gap: I’m a bit older, and being surrounded by a mostly younger crowd was definitely hard at times.
Ultimately, it worked for me. Be well out there… whatever works for you, do it.
