Not What Was Advertised

Based on our experience we cannot recommend booking with Ramasside. We booked a private VIP tour with Ramasside due to limited time during an overnight cruise stop in Egypt. The services provided did not align with the tour as advertised or confirmed to us.
A few days before arrival, we received an email stating that our private tour would be merged with another group and that we would be “upgraded” to a luxury van and lunch overlooking the pyramids. This email was sent directly to us and did not include our travel agent, despite prior communication being handled through her. After our agent contacted Ramasside, we were informed that the tour would remain private.
Upon arrival in Alexandria, the meeting process was disorganized. We were told a guide would be holding a sign with our names; however, no such sign was present. After speaking with multiple individuals wearing Ramasside shirts, we eventually located our guide. He was not wearing Ramasside-branded clothing, and the vehicle assigned to us was several blocks away. We were required to walk with our luggage in extreme heat. The vehicle was marked for a different company (“Emerald Travel”), not Ramasside.
During the drive to Cairo, the guide provided limited commentary and spent a significant portion of the drive using his phone. Water, which was expected to be provided, was not available at the start of the drive. The driver stopped at a store where our guided purchased two small bottles, which was the only water provided during the day.
At the Giza complex, we experienced limited time at both the Pyramids and the Sphinx, arriving at the Sphinx shortly before closing. We were then taken to several retail stops (papyrus, spice, and a small trinket shop referred to as a “bazaar”) that were not listed on the itinerary provided at and prior to booking. We did not see the grand bazaar advertised.
“Lunch” occurred at approximately 5:45 PM. After lunch, we were informed that there was insufficient time to stop at our hotel before the scheduled dinner cruise. While en route, we observed our hotel on Google Maps as we passed it. We were dropped at the dinner cruise location well in advance of boarding and waited outdoors, without shade, for approximately two hours.
After the dinner cruise, the return drive to the hotel followed an indirect route. Based on our observation using Google Maps, the travel time exceeded what would typically be required for a direct route.
The following day, the visit to the Egyptian Museum involved limited explanation, in contrast to other guided groups we observed. Lunch was at a fast-food establishment. We were then transported back toward Alexandria and to the ship We were informed the guide would not accompany us to the Alexandria. Only after we requested it were we driven past the Alexandria Library and Lighthouse , which had been part of the advertised itinerary, with no commentary from our guide as he stayed in Cairo.
Overall, the experience did not reflect a private or VIP tour as advertised, and several elements of the itinerary were altered or omitted. Ramasside advertises a 100% satisfaction guarantee in their correspondence with us; however, after months of communication, only a 50% refund was issued, facilitated by our travel agent.
Based on our experience, I would not recommend Ramasside for private or premium tours.

Absolutely unacceptable. Do not trust Ramasside Tours with your clients or your travel plans.

As a professional travel advisor, I booked multiple high-end private tours with Ramasside for cruise clients visiting Egypt. What followed was a complete disaster—poor service, misleading practices, broken promises, and serious damage to my clients’ once-in-a-lifetime trips.

I coordinated Ramasside Tours for 67 clients, and more than 60% experienced major issues. This was not an isolated incident—it was a pattern of disorganization, deception, and complete disregard for guest experience.

❌ Refunds Promised, Never Delivered
Multiple clients experienced severe service failures and were promised refunds. Now months have passed, and Ramasside has failed to follow through—despite repeated written confirmations and apologies.

❌ Private Tours Downgraded Without Consent
Clients who paid for exclusive, private experiences were informed—sometimes days before, sometimes upon arrival—that they would be combined with other unknown groups, eliminating the VIP nature of the tour. One private group of 10 was merged with another group of 10, directly violating their confirmed agreement.

❌ No Guide Upon Arrival / Dangerous Transport
Clients were left stranded in 104°F heat outside the port in Alexandria. No guide, no sign. They were eventually told to get into an unmarked, broken-down van with no seatbelts and no air conditioning. That van overheated on a 10-lane freeway, leaving them roadside for over 2 hours in traffic, without communication or water.

❌ Non-English-Speaking "Guides"
Despite booking English-speaking Egyptologist guides, several groups were assigned individuals who could not speak English, had no idea what was included in the itinerary, and failed to explain any cultural or historical context as paid for.

❌ Key Attractions Missed or Mishandled
Some clients missed the Sphinx entirely due to poor time management. Others were rushed through the Egyptian Museum, while watching other groups enjoy professional, engaging tours.

❌ Bait-and-Switch Tour Stops
Instead of visiting the famous Khan el-Khalili bazaar (a listed highlight), groups were taken to commission-based shops—a perfum store, a spice vendor, or an empty souvenir shop where the lights were off until the guide turned them on. This was not part of the itinerary and not requested by anyone.

❌ Hotel Booking Problems
One client arrived at a Hilton property to find no reservation under their name. Ramasside also failed to provide the Nile-view room that was promised. The issue was only resolved because the client used their Hilton Diamond status to intervene directly.

❌ No Support During Emergencies
In multiple cases, drivers or guides simply didn’t show up, leaving clients panicked and scrambling to figure out what to do. Most clients were forced to skip their Alexandria tours entirely, due to Ramasside’s unreliability.

❌ Zero Accountability
Dozens of detailed complaint letters with photos, videos, and documentation were sent to Ramasside. Responses ranged from silence to vague offers of a “discount on a future tour.” That’s an insult, not a resolution.

Bottom line:
Ramasside completely failed to deliver the premium service that was paid for—multiple times—and then evaded responsibility at every step. Their conduct has damaged client trust, my professional reputation, and their own brand beyond repair.

📢 Travelers beware. If you're considering Ramasside, reconsider.
📢 Travel professionals: protect your clients and your reputation.

When 60%+ of travelers on multiple trips report serious issues, this is not a fluke—it’s a systemic failure.

Bait and switch

Bait and switch! We did not get what we were promised and we were afraid for our lives! The driver spoke no English and we had no way to communicate! The car overheated on a 5 lane freeway and the driver stopped in a lane with cars swerving to miss us. All we could do is hold our breath. It was 104 degrees and we thought we were going to die either by heat or being hit! We were scared!
We were not met by a guide as promised, we did not get a tour from Alexandria to Cairo as promised, we were fed an awful lunch at 4:30pm. The hotel did not have our reservation. The driver to pick us up for the dinner cruise wasn’t there. It was one thing after the other!
Do not recommend!
Contacted them manager and all she said is she would give us and our friends a fielding if we came back. No thank you!
Thankful to be alive!

5* You won’t get better!

This is a very good company. I have used them many times and professionalism, quality, communication and friendliness are superb. It has been given the rating on trip advisor as #1 online agency in Egypt / #10 in the world and it deserves it. The big holiday companies and cruise lines use this company but charge you double! They are available 24 hours a day snd via WhatsApp to easily check things. I’ve tailor made packages and chosen my own guides according to where I was going/ what I was doing. Very fair company. You won’t get better! Now booking my daughters 30th birthday through them for a cruise and tours across the whole of Egypt. Would not use another company in Egypt. These are safe and professional.
