I had occasion to have to source a very very obscure part for a model locomotive I own, and as a long shot I contacted Rails of Sheffield in the hope that they may just have one in stock, and they certainly pulled the rabbit out of the hat for me on this one.
I wish to give special credit to Tom of the Bespoke Team for his interest, concern and quite frankly his compassion for taking the time to contact me to say he may have what I needed and that he would check his more obscure stock when next at work.
Within no time the part I needed was in the post and fitted to my class 66 locomotive bringing it back to pristine condition.
Full marks to Rails of Sheffield for some great service, I shall certainly be dealing with them again.

Recently sold collection to Rails. Easy process throughout, great price, the team were great to liaise with over email and very helpful with questions. The process of gathering a quote and then posting off the stock to rails was seamless and extremely easy. Transaction was done the same day as Rails received the goods. All round great experience.

Due to having a puppy, commitment and time were non existent for our model railway project. Contacted Rails of Sheffield with photos - who were delighted to accept our rolling stock, plus other items that we’d accumulated. A purchase figure was agreed. Rolling stock sent to Rails via Royal Mail. The whole process taking 48 hours, and money directly transferred to bank!

Excellent service from Rails of Sheffield when I recently contacted them about selling some N-Gauge Rolling Stock.

Having filled in the website contact form on a Sunday night, I had a prompt email response the next morning offering a fair price for my items.

The team quickly sent me the mailing labels and forms to send in with the goods. Having sent them on Tuesday they arrived on Wednesday and I had an email before the end of the day confirming the value that had been originally offered.

The money was bank transferred into my account the following day.

I emailed Rails of Sheffield second hand, a brief description of the three locomotives I was looking to sell. They responded the next day with an offer. I emailed that I was happy. They emailed me a pre-paid postage label.
I boxed up the items safety and went to my local post office.
To my surprise the parcel was receved the next day. Once my locomotives were checked, I was contacted about payment. Through Matt and Ben at Rails of Sheffield, the whole process was completed in just three days.

I spent £142 on TT 120 track and an engine. However being new to the hobby I hadn't understood and double checked the code of the track. Even though I'd searched TT 120 you'd think the offering would be compatible. No problem you can send them back for a return. Pretty standard you'd think but no, any which way either full refund or exchange they want to steel and it is robbery in the true sense, £3.95 to set up the return. There's not much good will with this firm. I'll be very reluctant to shop again.

Having reluctantly decided to dispose of my 00 gauge model rail, I contacted Rails of Sheffield to enquire if they were interested in purchasing items. The whole process is delightfully smooth, professional and efficient, from submitting an inventory to obtaining and accepting an offer. Each process is dealt with quickly, even payment which was same day I accepted their offer. The only real delay was the post office who let my packages sit in my local sorting office for a couple of days despite it being 24 hour postage. Completely outside Rails control.

I have just used Rails of Sheffield secondhand purchase system. Emailed videos and photo's of the loco's and stock I wished to move on. They made fair offer which I accepted, packed and posted, Rails covered the costs. The offer was confirmed upon receipt/inspection and monies paid same day.
The whole process took no more than 7 working days, faultless.

My husband died in June last year and I was left with the daunting task of selling his model railway collection. I contacted Rails of Sheffield and my email was answered by Ben, who said that yes, the company bought full collections, and to contact him when I was ready. I sent photos of the collection, Ben sent a very good offer, which I accepted. I packed the collection in boxes, Ben sent pre-paid labels and a link to sort out pick up with parcelforce. All very easy. Ben emailed to say that the boxes had been received, I supplied my bank account details and the money was transferred the next day. I'm very impressed with the service that I received and it made a huge task very easy.

First experience of selling my excellent second hand trains through rails. I have previously purchased lots of stock through the shop and have always been impressed. Having recently had a poor time through eBay I decided to give them a go. What a master stroke! professional, efficient and fair in their pricing. Today I received my bank transfer effort free. I had mainly engines and carriages from the Hornby range going back to 1960's gathering dust and rust not knowing where to pass them onto. I found this website which was easy to list, save and send to the company for valuation. Ben who dealt with my order was quick to reply giving me what I felt was a fair valuation (However, it is difficult to check in such a niche market though!) Once I agreed with the valuation, I sent the items to the company via Royal Mail. The process was swift after receiving my items, Ben made payment to me by 5pm the following day. I would highly recommend this company if you have such items which have not been looked at in years.

In early April I bought a set of six (3 pairs) of LNER West Riding coaches from Rails of Sheffield. As usual they were delivered within just a few days. However after very few days running coaches C & D derailed consistently on left hand bends. After trying everything I could think of to rectify this I emailed Rails for advice and within 24 hours had an email 'conversation' with Anthony who guided me through all sorts of tests and checks, including uploading photographs for him to 'inspect' to identify the cause of the problem. He eventually diagnosed a manufacturing fault on the coupling and immediately arranged a replacement, with return postage paid, for my faulty set. The new set arrived a couple of days later and now, after a good few weeks running, they continue to be absolutely fine. I remain a very satisfied customer of Rails.
