Useful way to get hard to get wine.
I wanted to try this wine for a while. Port to port gave me the opportunity. Delivery took a little while but as the wine is going to be laid down for a number of years it was not a problem.

Multiple deliveries and missing wine
The website and wine selection on offer is great. However, the process of delivery was bad . One order with 4 separate deliveries. Plus a missing bottle of wine that was packed.

Shockingly poor delivery
I have placed 3 orders over the past couple of weeks due to a decent selection of wine being available. The orders have however been a shambles and delivered in drips and drabs. I ordered a case of Poseleinberg Syrah on order number RM71087 which was not delivered and shows on the system as being delivered. The customer service department did not respond as promised and I am sitting nearly 2 weeks later without my wine which is supposed to take between 3 and 5 working days to deliver.

Port2Port offers the biggest online selection of fine wines and spirits from around the world at the best possible prices while guaranteeing cellaring conditions and provenance.
To do so, we do not operate from a centralized warehouse but collect your wines from the winery or retailer warehouse and ship them directly to your door. This means that when you shop from multiple sellers you may receive your order in separate shipments, the number of which will be indicated on checkout. Regarding our shipping fees, unless indicated otherwise, Port2Port shipping fees are R99 per vendor and free shipping applies for all orders over R1500 per vendor. If independently shipped by the vendor, shipping fees and free shipping thresholds may vary, this is all indicated on the product detail page, and when checking out.

Expensive wine arrived loose in an open box.
The bottles of wine arrived loose in an open box. As this was rather expensive wine, and as the Port2Port delivery fees are quite steep, I expected more.

A bit weird
A bit weird, really. I bought 12 bottles of wine, 3 x 4, and it became two orders, delivered in two stages, one from Johannesburg, of wines sent there from Cape Town! Is this to do with Norman Goodfellows, or Port 2 Port? Had I been given the option, I’d have cancelled simply because the carbon footprint for the delivery is ridiculous. Port 2 Port were on it, chasing it up but, the delivery took over a week longer than specified, which seems quite bizarre. Retailers need to look at the costs of delivery, the logistics and the inconvenience. I’ll continue to use Port 2 Port, however, I’m not sure I’m very impressed by Norman Goodfellows!
