But you wouldn’t know that from the service levels….excellent. Genuinely helpful and friendly.

External floor paint
I recently purchased an external floor paint from Polycote, to be used on my garage floor, part of which falls outside beyond the garage door. The clear product description seems to fit the requirements of what I need, including the external temperature and moisture content requirement of the floor prior to applying it to get the best out of the paint and its durability. I haven't used it yet because of those factors but feel confident it will work perfectly, and specifically the area that is external. Having all the information within its description makes a big difference! The ordering and delivery service was very prompt and professional.

Double Garage floor paint supplied and subcontractor recommended for painting - whole experience was stress free and very well supported by Shannon (Polycote) and Chris (subcon). Communication was perfect and helped get the job done well and in a timely fashion. Shannon sent preparation emails to ensure the painting went without any issues. Chris was also an excellent communicator, and did a fantastic job on my garage floor! He also offered great advice. So a big thanks to Polycote and Chris, one very satisfied customer, would definitely use again and recommend!

VERY VERY EXPENSIVE AND BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE
I thought I would support a local company when i needed to screed a new floor.
I used Polycote in Kempston Bedfordshire
BE WARNED this is not a company for individuals
No over the counter service and when i turned up after calling them about my order a guy stood in a room with no table or chairs or counter holding a laptop in his hand and did the order which i had already phoned through
I ordered enough self levelling and DPM primer with some extra just in case.
My son a carpenter remarked that he thought it was expensive product when we collected it but i said its always good to support local business
We have 1 x 5kg DPM primer and 3 x bags of 25kg flexible screed left over.
Comes to £245.08 cost.
So i contacted the company and asked as they didn't have an over the counter service can i just turn up to return goods or do they need to raise a credit not before i come just to check the stock back in?
I was told to expect a call or email form the person that served me.
This is what i received by email:
Powdered goods are non-returnable so we won’t be able to take the screed back.
For the one unit of DPM it’ll be our standard 35% restocking fees.
Please let me know if you’re going to ship the goods back to us or bring them back yourself.

They charged me £49.14 for some plastic strap on spiked shoes which i since found the exact same ones at B&Q for £14.17 !!!
charged me £878.40 for 20 bags of flexible screed at £43.92 per 25kg bag, I have since found it for £18.83 per 20kg bag at FLOORMARTthat works out at £23.53 for 25kg so £470 !!!
I was told i need a spiked roller so bought one at Polycote, £35.96 ...... FLOORMART EXACTLY SAME SPIKED ROLLER £14.70 I mean exact same !
DPM primer from FLOORMART £80.85
DPM primer form Ploycote £157.08 !!!
I could have purchased the same products from Floormart for a total of £903.12
compared to £1486.57
THAT’S £583.45 DIFFERENCE!
Trade rated spiked roller and shoes from you £49.14 + £35.96 = £81.10
Trade rated spiked roller and shoes from Floormart £16.20 + £14.70 + £30.90
£50.20 MORE EXPENSIVE AND OVER CHARGE FOR THE SAME PRODUCTS £81 on same things at £31!
OK SO ITS MY FAULT I DIDN'T DO DUE DILIGENCE BEFORE GOING TO POLYCOTE ...... BUT C'MON !
I am writing this review hoping to give anyone else not in the trade and just an individual the heads up to check around first.

While we understand this may be disappointing, these terms exist to ensure product integrity and fairness for all customers.
Regarding pricing, our products and accessories are specified for industrial-grade resin flooring applications and are sourced to meet the performance, durability, and warranty requirements of that sector. Retail alternatives can appear similar but are typically intended for lighter domestic use, which is why their pricing may differ.
While we regret that this has not aligned with what you expected, you were of course under no obligation to purchase from us, and we fully respect your decision to explore other suppliers in future.
Our intention throughout has simply been to provide clear and accurate information, and we remain happy to answer any further questions you may have.

Great company with some excellent products
Cut a very long story short, I had an extension done with a flat roof way way back at the beginning of the year. Then we had named storms come through and I ended up with water marks in the new extension. Builders & roofers both came out and did fixes but by the 5th named storm and persistent water ingress, I decided to go over the coping stones myself as this is where the problem was.
I contacted polycote and every single person I dealt with was fantastic - I was all set to buy the most expensive, high grade roofing paint but they told me the actual product which would be best for my job (which was cheaper also) and got it all sent straight out to me with clear instructions etc.
this was January! I had other house finishing off jobs to do and have only recently gotten round to doing the coping stones in the last week (October!)
I got the products on just before the weather turned, they are very thick in viscosity and as I applied it I was confident that wind driven rain water wouldn’t be getting past the paint!
I pretty much just slapped it on as I needed functionality over form at this point but once the walls are painted white, the black polycoate’d coping stones will look really nice in contrast. They look great from the ground level, only when im up close in the roof, I can see small areas where the reinforcing fibres have clumped from the roller in places. Roller was faster but brush was smoother finish.
I’ve got a few other jobs still to do but I’d definitely use polycote products again for these other jobs.
Very happy with the paint and finally have peace of mind that no driving rain water will penetrate.

Amazing from start to finish
Amazing from start to finish. I initially phoned for advice regarding a concrete walkway as I had been given polycote’s contact details by a damp specialist, who advised their products are the best on the market. From my initial contact, Polycote were so helpful, knowledgeable and responsive. Polycote even arranged for the works do be carried out by one of their approved contractors which was so helpful and meant I didn’t have do this myself and was safe in the knowledge the contractors would be of a high standard. Nothing was too much trouble, even rearranging the installation date and short notice. Emails are responded to immediately, information is explained really well in a way that the every day person can understand and the approved contractors arranged by Polycote were also fantastic. I can’t praise them enough. Nothing was too much trouble.

Shocking Quality
They sent a rep around to inspect the site and recommended a product. Whilst I was initially pleased with the service, the product they installed was sub standard and started cracking. I reasonably asked someone to inspect and make good. They asked for a sample which I agreed to send them. The General Manager, named Clayton, then asked whether it would help me. I said no given I was not familiar with their products to which he rudely said he would not help and see me in Court. Never in my life have I experienced anything like it. It cost circa £8,000 for faulty flooring. Yes I will be taking the matter to Court

We’re genuinely sorry to see your original 5-star review revised, especially after the positive feedback you initially shared about our team and the service you received.
That said, we feel it’s important to provide some clarity around the situation. Following Polycote’s initial site visit, it appears a new sub-base was installed — one we were not given the opportunity to inspect. When our approved installer arrived on site, he raised serious concerns about the condition of this new substrate and advised that it needed to be re-laid before any coating work could go ahead.
This advice was communicated directly to your team on site. Despite the concerns raised, you instructed us to proceed. Our installer, uneasy about the likely outcome, followed up by email to document his advice and requested written confirmation from you to continue. You responded with:
“We have not had any issues with it to date and are even surprised it needed screeding again, so do not foresee any problems. Please therefore proceed.”
The issues you’re now experiencing are unfortunately consistent with the risks that were outlined at the time. As the decision was made to continue against clear professional advice, we can only offer a remedial solution at additional cost.
We're sorry to hear your comments and would like to clarify that at no point have we stated or intended to take legal action against you. We value open and respectful communication with all our customers and are always happy to resolve concerns directly and constructively.
