Super fun day. Was exciting and Nick was a great teacher. Friendly, professional and polite. I have told people this is a great experience even if they are not interested in riding a motorcycle.

I completed my Mod 1 and Mod 2 training with Nick at The Three Sisters racetrack in Wigan. Nick is a fantastic instructor who is keen to help people with all aspects of the training. I am very pleased to say that I passed both mods first time and felt supported by Nick for the entire experience. I’m now on the hunt for a bike and cannot wait to be cruising around. Thanks Nick and Phoenix Motorcycle Training.

Recently used phoenix motorcycle for my CBT. Honestly cannot give Nick enough credit, he's clearly the right person for the job. He kept things fun whilst also showing the importance of safety and for someone like me that goes a long way when it comes to learning. Will be recommending these to any future friends or family that want to start their motorcycle journey :D 12/10

Phoenix Motorcycle Training (Wigan) - What an Outstanding Training School
As a bit of background, I am 21 years old, just completed my A2 bike license (spoilers), and I have wanted to ride a bike since I was a little kid.
I started my riding experience by completing my CBT in early September, with JB. Myself, another rider on a geared 125, and a rider on an automatic moped were in the session. The morning consisted of basic information, skills and handling, and at this point, the other geared rider went home has he did not have control of the bike (due to nerves). After lunch, we talked a little bit about roadcraft and then spent 2 hours on the road. Considering I had never ridden a motorbike, by the end of the day, I felt really comfortable on the road. JB was attentive, encouraging, and clearly knew what he was doing!
Following my CBT, I went off and passed my theory test, and then booked last minute onto a big bike conversion day (late September), where I met Nick (my instructor for the rest of my DAS license). I started back on the CB125F to get used to the roads again, and within 45 mins he decided I was ready to jump up to the Z650 (restricted). He helped me navigate the difference between a big bike and the 125 I used to, and again, it was a super positive environment.
Queue a long wait before my next training. Given the popularity of PMT, and my busy schedule, I wasn't able to get back in the school's saddle until late November. In the meantime, I spent numerous hours on YT watching Mod 1 and 2 tips, as well as riding my Meteor 350 around the garage (50 miles).
By the time my Mod 1 training rolled around, we were in the midst of a cold spell, and I woke up to a -3 deg start. On arrival, the training pad had frozen over, and the bike battery was drained by the cold. We rectified the battery, and Nick fought tooth and nail to source another pad to use, allowing me to work further on my slow-speed manoeuvres, which were already up-to-scratch, and develop my high-speed skills (hard to practice in a garage). In the afternoon, we went out to the roads, to develop some more road awareness, and Nick made this an extremely positive experience, ensuring I was warm enough and had plenty time to rest where needed. He also gave me opportunity to view the test centre at St. Helens to see what the pad looked like, and talked me through the test super thoroughly,
The next day, I arrived at the training school, and we spent an hour or so tootling round to settle back into the bike. We arrived in plenty time to settle my nerves, have a chat with other candidates, and breeze through my test. I was more than prepared for the test, and passed with no minors (59kmh stop and 53kmh swerve) to show for it!
My Mod 2 training was the week after, again, I managed to pick one of the coldest days of the year, but managed to avoid ice this time. We spent a full day riding, with 5+ hours in the seat riding around, building my confidence, and by the end of the day I was smooth, flowy and confident. We practiced various test routes, road features, and by the end of the day, it felt like just going for a pleasant ride.
My Mod 2 test occurred the day after, and I really want to sing Nick's praises for this one. We had a 6:30 start, in order to give us enough time to warm up for a 7:50 ride, but after a preparatory coffee, disaster! A thick fog descended, and upon arrival to the centre, Darren (the examiner) informed us that tests had been cancelled! Nick did a fantastic job of reassuring me (I wasn't super happy at this point), and spent close to an hour back and forthing with Darren, the DVSA and Phoenix HQ to organise a postponed test for 10:51. This was beyond appreciated, as I had taken leave for the morning, and didn't want to lose this time. We headed back to the school, and I had breakfast whilst I waited, before heading back to the test centre for a pass with only 3 minors (pulling over opposite a car, approach speed to a junction, and pulling forward without a full view).
As it stands, I completed my DAS license on Wed 4th Dec, insured my Royal Enfield the same day, and have already done 200 miles in the past 72 hours; this is all thanks to Nick, JB and the Phoenix team.
My experience with Phoenix has been simply outstanding. As noted, I couldn't recommend a better instructor than Nick: friendly, funny and fair. You can tell that he has a real passion for biking, and wants to pass that on to his students. We chatted about bikes, trips and gear the whole time we were together, and I felt he really listened to any concerns I had, and gave absolutely send advice through my sessions.
Another note about the admin team. They were absolutely ace. They helped facilitate my complicated schedule, ensured I had all the information and kept an eye out for dates that would work.
Overall, after hearing horror stories about other providers, I cannot recommend Phoenix Motorcycle Training more highly. Use your time and money wisely!
