Ten (10) days at the Pestana Blue Alvor Beach Hotel, Alvor, Portugal (booked via Tui Holidays); this being my first holiday in Portugal. Excellent customer service from the moment of arrival to departing. Huge choice on the menu at every meal. The housekeeping staff provided extra beverage making stock in the room upon request. The accommodation was very clean and well maintained as was the hotel in general. The whole hotel has been recently refurbished from top to bottom. Free WiFi coverage throughout the building. A free room safe large enough to accommodate numerous electronic devices and valuables. Built-in USB sockets in the bedside lamps. More than enough electrical sockets in the room. The reception staff were very knowledgeable regarding local day trips. Booking are on a cash basis only. There is a cash point (ATM) in the hotel the reception area. The small shop in reception is adequately provisioned. The shop sells the standard selection of holiday gifts, beach goods and toiletries.

Do not forget to have two Euros (one Euro in the low season) per guest per night (to the maximum of seven nights) available upon checking in for the local hotel tax.

I was so impressed by my experience at the Pestana Blue Alvor Beach that I have made a further booking for later this year.

We stayed at the Pestana Blue Alvor & enjoyed our week very much.The food was fantastic & the staff very friendly & super attentive. The infinity pool was amazing with a great view looking out at the sea. All inclusive was great as cocktails & red wine all day was a dream come true.

Hotel 2 star not 4. Not a golf resort (nearest course 12km), Food bland and poor quality, main problem was the room - very small for a double, bathroom was ridiculously small, very basic. Outside area was good with lots of space for sunbeds. Outside bar reduced when there is a wedding on (which is regular). Staff seemed grumpy, probably due to the number of complaints. HOTEL DOES NOT TAKE CASH! They want you to leave a card authorisation, which I have done at many hotels. However when checking in, the client next to me was checking out and he had over 250 euros charged to his card, when he only ordered two drinks and a snack. When he told staff this, they said the card payment had already gone through....ridiculous. A good italian restaurant and Portuguese nearby, mini market 400m up hill. Would not recommend or return. A very tired hotel in need of refurbishment.

After 1 year my parents are still waiting to receive their refund. We have exchanged several calls and emails and this problem is still not solved. The customer care service has been unresponsive and unfriendly towards their clients.

We ate at both restaurants in the Pestana Miramar hotel in Funchal. The food was lovely and the service, especially from Claudia, was excellent. Thank you.

There are many good aspects of staying at the hotel. Nice rooms and a good pool.

But probably the least flexible in terms of checking in and out times that I have ever encountered.

Internet access is poor so not great if you need to do work calls….

My room was good but my colleagues was not and even after complaining it was not cleaned. They ended up cleaning it themselves….

Stayed at Pestana Grand 2 weeks...
Staff are amazing. So helpful.
Place & situation is beautiful.
Prices at bar are reasonable.
Bedroom was lovely.
Mattress was mediocre ...too soft for me made my back ache.
Meals are ok.. loved the salad selection..but the something to go with the salad was a bit diar.
Deserts were plentiful...gorgeous selection..
Breakfast. .was plentiful...aslong as you dont want a full English.. so fresh fruit ..ham cheese salad ..yoghurt..various breads ...plenty coffee
...if you like a full English then hotdogs scrambled egg fried egg..pancakes
It's an amazing place ..beautiful situation .
I would go again and ask for a firm mattress..
Reasonable price I felt for 2 weeks with Jet2..

Stay away from Pestana holiday. We have stayed at Pestana hotels in the past and decided to use Pestana Holidays to book our trip. All seemed to go well until we tried to check in to our flight 24hrs in advance. Our name was not registered on our flight so we had no flight. We called and emailed Pestana Holiday to rectify the problem so we would no miss our trip but no response. We had no choice but to rebook our flight ourselves on the same flight we should have been booked on. We had to pay over $700 for this booking although we paid Pestana Holiday to book the flight. When we returned home we went back and forth with Pestana Holiday asking to pay for our flight that we had to book since they dropped the ball. After months going back and forth and refunded not even half of the money we were out because of their unprofessionalism. NEVER EVEN THINK OF USING THIS COMPANY.

After they sold the house they just kind of write an automatic email to you when you complain of minor or major problems but simply won't do anything. It is the kind of company you shouldn't buy a house.

We loved our stay ( my friend and I ) at this amazing place. We called it the pink palace ! It’s set in lush palm trees and fauna all around two swimming pools. There’s tennis courts and crazy golf with a small children’s playground.
Our room was on level 7 but this was only two floors up from ground level. We had twin beds and a balcony. There’s a bathroom but it’s a glass walled bathroom with no door. Not the greatest when sharing only with a friend. We managed as the glass walls have blinds to pull down but it still isn’t great. We overcame this though as the week went on because the hotel offers so much. The food choice is great with plenty to satisfy even the fussiest eater. The staff are amazing, kind and helpful. We did find out we could have asked for a room without the glass bathroom as we were leaving ( so ask if you get a room like this ). I have no complaints though and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Hotel Pestana Promenade, Funchal Madeira
We stayed 9 days at the hotel, and it was a very lovely time. We have been coming to Madeira since 2012, but visited Pestana Promenade for the first time. Very nice/ excellent service from all staff. The location and the room were perfect. The facilities were also perfect.
We can only give our best recommendations.

Stayed at the Pestana Ocean Bay hotel in Funchal for a week in January. Could not fault anything. Hotel was spotlessly clean and staff all very pleasant and hardworking. Always plenty of choice of food at mealtimes and good choice of drinks from bar. Lovely location. Very peaceful. Hotel also offers free shuttle bus into Funchal.

Originally booked at Pestana Palms but Jet2 withdrew booking so decided to Village. Pleasant hotel and surroundings and only a short walk into the centre of Funchal. However, the food was only OK, the hot food left sitting out so was only really warm. Buffet deserts got mangled by people and looked very uninviting; taster servings would have been better. No welcome tea bag in the room although a kettle was provided. Pool bars not always open as scheduled. Despite all this, Madeira was as endearing as ever with excellent New Year offerings.

Stayed at the Pestana Palm Gardens in Carvoeiro, Algarve over Christmas 2023. Restaurant Staff excellent shame the breakfast was always semi warm/hot and I didn't have a decent fired egg once. Had a great 2 bedroomed town house house keeping again was excellent lovely cleaning lady. Reception Staff not up to much, 3 occasions we asked for help and twice they didn't come back or it ended up in a verbal fight. Very remote too. Only walks were over the cliff tops and they can be samey

Pestana Royale is in great location for sightseeing and walks. Variety of food for all tastes. Rooms could do with updating, although hotel itself is great. Staff are fantastic and attentive, they make it five star! Will come again.

Pestana Chelsea Bridge,Will not be staying again,the only up side to this Hotel is that where is ample parking next door.The staff act as they do not want to be there,My shower door was hanging off,so got in the bath the plug did not work so could not fill the bath,Cracked drinking Cups.The hotel staff very uncaring apart from one person named ilona who did tried to help us. we will not be back.

Wonderful staff that aim to please for the whole stay. Sofia was fantastic and always happy.
Entertainment team were amazing Always getting the guest involved...especially Rafa...'oh yeah!'
Stretch/yoga and aqua exercise all good fun.
Evening entertainment was mostly good but finishes at 11pm
Food OK not brilliant. Speciality restaurants nice. Guitarist entertainment at breakfast was fantastic as was the pianist
Bedrooms for sleeping OK but beds not the most comfortable and rooms could do with an update.
Overall 4 out of 5. Would stay again

Stayed in Pestana South Beach Alvor.
Nice hotel, good position on the beach, clean, well run with good breakfast. Would recommend. Good value for money.
