Extremely Disappointing Experience with Unexpected Charges

I had a very frustrating experience with Pace Car Rentals and would strongly urge others to carefully review all charges before booking.

When I booked my rental (Booking Ref: 995216234), I was clearly informed that I would pay £69.85 upfront and a remaining balance of €356.52 (£305.71) at collection. The booking confirmation specifically stated that the €75 one-way rental fee was already included in that amount. Based on the information provided, my expected total rental cost was £375.56.

However, upon collecting the vehicle, I was charged ZAR 54,520 (£2,511.91), including a deposit. While most of the deposit was later refunded, I still ended up paying a total of £418.52, which is £42.96 more than the amount confirmed when I made the booking.

The most concerning issues were:

• One-way rental charge discrepancy: My booking showed a one-way fee of €75, yet I was charged ZAR 3,000 for this item. No clear explanation has been provided.

• Fuel charge despite returning the car full: I was charged ZAR 103.25 for fuel even though I returned the vehicle with a full tank.

• Lack of pricing transparency: The final charges did not match the pricing outlined in my booking confirmation, making it difficult to understand what I was actually paying for.

I have formally disputed these charges and requested a full itemised breakdown, but as things stand, I am left with more questions than answers.

Warning to Future Customers

Be extremely careful when renting from Pace Car Rentals. Keep copies of all booking confirmations, take photographs of the vehicle and fuel gauge when collecting and returning the car, and monitor your credit card statements closely. The final amount charged may not match the amount originally quoted, and you may need to spend significant time disputing unexpected fees. Based on my experience, I would not trust the advertised pricing without obtaining written confirmation of every charge in advance.

ITS BEEN OVER TWO MONTHS AND AFTER NUMEROUS EMAILS AND WHATSAPP MESSAGES, MY CASE IS STILL UNRESOLVED. IF ONLY THERE WAS AN OPTION TO GIVE ZERO STARS.

Rented me a car at a really good price, which was key, and the deposit was one third of other company's. Walked into their place at Salt River, Cape Town and was set up with a car so quickly it was unbelievable. I extended my rental with ease and the staff were pleasant and helpful throughout.

Responses on questions per e-mail were swift and sensitive to our particular circumstances. Bookingproces easy. No office at the airport, but they respondent quickly to telephone call to arrange for pick up of car. Quick, no hassle and friendly service at pick up and drop off.

For me needing a long lease vehicle, Pace was the only car hire that me allowed me to hire a vehicle and make payment in a different city. The staff at the Port Elizabeth depo were always friendly, and we experienced no issues with Vehicle after having the car over 4 months. They are also great value, Thank you Pace

I am very happy with Pace Car Rental and their services. The consultants both at the Kempton Park and Roodepoort branches gave me an excellent service, and even the online engagements with support teams were quick and their booking processes, highly effective.

Pace Car Rentals needs to review their third-party insurance claims process, as it could negatively impact their clients' reputations.

My case was assigned to their lawyers at PWV Inc., specifically to the most indifferent lawyer named Mogau.

You have to constantly follow up with Mogau for updates, and he even has the audacity to say that Pace Car Rentals (his own client) cannot dictate what he does or when he does it.

He even said that I can pursue legal action if im not happy with their processes which is 6 month to get my claim processesed and the process will never change.
this week I have contact his office he promised to give me feedback after our telephonic conversation before 10am its now 4pm no feedback.
This shows the level of incompetence to that extend of frustration and affecting other party's well being. you end up feeling like you at fault Meanwhile you not.
when he says all this things the Pace Car rental represensentive(Qhama) is on copy with no say.
When you check the reviews on PWC inc it is very bad same complaint same person.

Celine assisted us with the booking, she was extremely helpful and made the booking very easy. Solomon met us at our terminal at O.R Tambo and took us on 3 minute walk to our car. The day of our departure we left the car at the valet parking. Before we got back to our home country I already recieved an email to confirm banking details to finalize the deposit return. I've rented a lot of vehicles before and this was a hassle-free, good experience.

Pace is such a reliable company to deal with and have really good employees who are patient and kind towards their clients , PACE always delivers and it is a hassle free company I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for reliability ,safety and affordability.
