I studied with Oxford Homeschooling for nearly 3 years and never found fault with the company, the tutors or the teaching materials provided. There is a good range of GSSEs and A levels to choose from and oxford were very helpful when helping to begin my GCSES. Materials were provided in folders with clear lessons, learning objectives and questions also followed by TMAs with in depth feedback. Maths GCSE folder was a bit long and wordy at times so I would suggest a textbook to accompany the folder. Tutors were good and supported me in a way that suited either by call or email. The company were especially helpful during the pandemic when exams were cancelled twice they entered me for a tutor assessed grade for both years when exam centers struggled to. Definitely worth the money If school is not an option. I came out with 5 good GCSEs and overall would highly recommend to anyone wishing to home educate, as it gives structure and something to aim TMAs to aim towards. Great, friendly and professional company.

My daughter had an excellent tutor who took a real interest in her progress. Her results could not have been better and she is now happy at uni.

History GCSE
My daughter studied history GCSE last year. She really struggled with it at first, but her tutor, Heike, was patient and extremely helpful, giving detailed feedback throughout. She scored a 7 in her exam last year, which we were so pleased about and all thank to Heike's great tutoring.

My daughter studied for her psychology and sociology GCSEs with Oxford. Her psychology tutor was amazing, dedicated and reliable, whereas her sociology tutor, though nice, did the bare minimum and was very little help through the course.

The materials were adequate, but could have been made more interesting and interactive. It is simply a case of working through a black and white folder, there is no online element to break up the course. The sociology folder was confusing, even for me, while psychology was logical. In the end my daughter's marks reflected this, with her psychology mark being higher than sociology.

Brilliant and dedicated teachers , the students get all the help they need . As a parent you need to do your bit and encourage the child to do the work at home .

We really enjoyed working with Oxford Home Schooling. The tutor who was assigned to us was superb and she was so helpful. Excellent materials and support. If we had to choose again, we would choose Oxford Home Schooling.

Very good support for my daughter, especially in 2021, when the process of evaluation for A-level was finally established by Government. We changed examination to OOL.

My Son had attended one of the best fee paying independent schools in the U.K since aged 4 and was achieving excellent results, due to family circumstances it was necessary to take my Son out of the school just prior to the 3 year commencement of GCSE studies and upon recommendation of the Headmistress I enrolled my Son with Oxford Home Schooling which allowed flexibility of our location and continuation of my Son's education.

I was concerned about the potential impact on my Son's education and considered various options before deciding upon Oxford Home Schooling.

I need not have worried, the excellent tutoring, first class student support from tutors, excellent parental assistance, including advice and guidance from the exams office ensured that my Son's education continued at the same high standard as his previous top rated independent school, the fees with Oxford Home Schooling being much less was an added bonus!

My Son achieved excellent grades for his GCSE's and continued his education with Oxford Home Schooling for his A Levels this year. He achieved 3 A Stars for his A Levels this year August 2021.

If any parent has any doubt about home schooling or about enrolling their child with Oxford Home Schooling, I hope that my experience and testimony and more importantly my Son's experience and results with Oxford Home Schooling will help assuage any worries or concerns. The flexibility of education schedules without the dictation of government or local authorities as to when you are allowed to take your family holiday, for those fortunate enough to be able to do so, is also worth remembering as an added advantage for you and your child.

On the run up to exams I also engaged private tutors, specialising in the individual subjects for an hour a week per subject to provide additional assistance with exam techniques and how to answer exam questions. These tutors, often heads of department or experienced in the particular subjects at both state schools and independent schools are easy to find on private tutor sites on the internet and for those wishing to achieve GCSE 8 or 9's, A Level A or A Star's are, in my opinion, an excellent idea to compliment Oxford Home Schooling tuition.

Educating your child is an important part of being a good parent, do remember that whether your child attends school or is home educated, it's your responsibility to make sure they are given the love, support and self confidence to enable them to maximise their potential, whatever their abilities, no matter how low or how high, parental input is vital and it is not just the responsibility of a school or education provider!

My daughter completed 3 years of education with Oxford Open Learning this summer. It was such a positive experience especially during the situation with Covid. No lessons missed and plenty of work for exam assessment. All of her tutors were so supportive and the independent learning has set her up well for her continuing education at university.

Whilst I haven't made the decision to proceed with online learning just yet, I have to share the fabulous customer service and information provided was faultless.

James was really understanding of my childs' learning needs and provided really good solutions.

We were very impressed with OOL from the first contact. Helpful and informative staff and an excellent tutor. Assignments were thoroughly assessed with great feedback. Very extensive resources were given which made the studying easy.As a result of the outstanding tuition our daughter gained a high grade in English Language. We started with Oxford Home Schooling in 2014, and I must say it has been a very positive experience. The distance learning model particularly suited my two older children, developing their skills in independent study with regular and reliable support from individual subject tutors. My oldest has now left homeschooling, he flourished in sixth form college and has been offered a place at uni starting this September. His younger sister is now reaching the end of Year 11 with Oxford Home Schooling, and has been offered a place at sixth form college. My youngest daughter is coming to the end of Year 9, and at her request was offered a place in our local mainstream secondary school. She has never attended ordinary school, but I am confident she will be able to adjust. Thanks to Oxford Home Schooling, for all you have done for my family!

We are relatively new to OOL however I have used other online learning solutions in the past with my other children, and this is by far the best.
The resources are clear and well laid out. Having all the materials printed out means I can revise and get ahead of my son the night before too which is handy!
The fact they are not staring at a screen 100% of the time to learn really helps in my view. My son hand writes his coursework, which improves his handwriting and avoids over reliance on word processing (useful for a messy 13 year old boy).
There are really good videos for Science via Twig. This helps bring to life some experiments what would otherwise be difficult to visualise.
All his tutors reached out and introduced themselves when we signed up, and have responded quickly when he has requested help (so far only required for maths). They’ve checked in on him regularly too. When he did need help his tutor explained how to solve a problem and he was happy by the end of the call. His tutor marked assignments were returned within a couple of days. He was given feedback over the phone and provided with sample answers.
I’ve seen my son quickly get organised and understand what is expected of him each day. His confidence is the highest I think I’ve ever seen, which is fantastic to see.
As a parent I know it is hard to know whether these things are a good investment. Having used very expensive online high schools previously that were a shocking waste of money, I cannot recommend this highly enough. Parents should remember that they are still in charge of organising a sensible timetable and supporting them day to day.

We used Oxford Home Schooling for English language IGCSE. Overall I found this school good, the support from the tutors was adequate, and the tutors were there if you needed them. As a parent I still had to put in a lot of work to support my daughter. The resources they supplied were really good with answers that were very helpful. I found the cost compared to other online schools very good with no hidden costs or suprises and it was easy to tailor our package to suit our needs. The customer service from the admin team was excellent. Overall I would say that our experience was positive, and I would recommend.

I have just recommended my friend to use oxford home schooling. Because i found them to be excellent. Both my twins used English, Maths, Biology, physics, chemistry, psychology and English literature. They got nearly all A grades. My daughter got a 1st in Biomedical science and my son is in medical school. It is not easy to home school. It is not down to the course tutors to ensure children study. We received every support needed, especially in the difficult subjects of maths and the sciences. But we found oxford learning absolutely wonderful. If the children don't put the work in they won't achieve the results. Oxford is an excellent service. Thank you so much. I have been meaning to leave a review for some time. Highly recommended.

They refused entry to my son for year 8 so we had them looked over, OOL claimed we were aggressive & that non of the teachers wanted to teach my son, this was simply not the case with his current teachers, after a ruff start, it was a manipulative lie on the part of ool & excuse to avoid dealing with issues related to the quality of the product & to silence any criticism that might expose the scam in play.
The sad reality was that they were manipulative to the last in an attempt to live in a delusional state of not being able to be at fault... Save one tutor whom was really nice, they knew I was on to their money scam so they refused to teach my son..

I am sure they will invent a version of the truth to fit their own marketing scam agenda, making us out to be the monster as they have in other reviews below. But the truth is all i have, i stand by it.

They have lead me to believe my son would continue with this course until year nine while instead just wasting a year of my sons education.

Turns out this is nothing more than a year long standing order scam, they don't care about your kids here, i grew very suspicious of this fake education package very early on, something was not right at all, very messy poorly written cheap educational material, claims of students being able to phone teachers, but ONLY FOR 20 MINUTES ONCE A WEEK. teachers never and I mean never picked up the phone, leaving my son with no support, after having a real teaching professional look into the materials.. he stated

I was offered a refund half way through, WE THINK THEY GOT SCARED I WAS ON TO THEM, but when i called their bluff and said yes refund me, oh their tune soon changed literally backed up and begged me to finish the year.. £700 odd £ waste of money
have applied to court to get it back. REPORTED THEM TO TRADING STANDARDS & ACTION FRAUD

My Advice do not buy this, it's not what it says it is, the manager is a con man... it's not simply supported distance learning, more like you will be lucky if you learn anything..

My advice go & buy CGP GOVERNMENT APPROVED WORKBOOKS/ revision books. These are very professional books aimed at your child's age group they are used in schools up and down the UK combine that with a laptop and youtube and save your self the headache that OOL SCAM BOT WILL CAUSE YOU, THIS PLACE IS A DISGRACE AND NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED FOR FRAUD

The key stage 3 Math course needs a lot of work from Oxford home schooling to provide better clearer explanations of formulas used to study their Math course…. Over complicated and out of date formulas are used currently, often leaving out parts that should be explained to the reader BEFORE TAKING ON THE TASK.
one example being during any activity in the math course you will get extremely confusing explanations for the first three sums of an activity, but the fourth sum of an activity will have no explanation at all, or proper instruction... They expect the pupil to guess the answer without having any previous indication of how to do that different type of sum within the context of the formula that was originally poorly thought out or not explained at all…

Tutors must be beside them selves often having to correct the mistakes of Oxford home schooling, by providing links to websites and youtube Videos that give a more modern and simplified explanation of the sums in question but do not indirectly or directly point to the solution or formula for the poorly explained question four or trick question in each activity

The tutors are fantastic and do try but the lack of simplified methodology to the written text is what makes the course take a lot longer than it should, an activity that should take no longer than 30 minutes ends up taking 3 days per single question that was not explained

If you make any complaint at all expect inappropriate & rude comments from staff, such as quote

“We have been doing this for 40 years” or “perhaps home tuition is not suited to your child”

this is damn right insulting given that we don’t have any issue with English or science.

Just the extremely poor explanation of the material formula that should be written in a modern and easy to digest way without attempts to confuse the pupil by leaving out proper explanations for the so called harder question in each activity.

Instead of dealing with their shortcomings they will try to blame you…. their solution is to swap your tutor BUT THIS is not normally the problem at all….. What they need to do is include explanations of mathematical formula for all eventualities in an activity before the problem is to be tackled and not expect pupils to guess the wrong answer because the lesson was written by somebody who likely never had children and thought a child would be able to guess what to do…. Oh Dear

My daughter as been doing KS3 English since January but we are very unhappy with the lack of answers (to check she is on the right track) in the books. I have given customer services the chance to put things right and get the parents guides altered but their reply of 'the questions can have multiple answers' doesn't help much. Each question should be showing at least 1 in-depth answer to check the topic is fully understood. I made a big mistake of signing up for all of KS3 in 1 go as we now have another 2 years of this :-(

I studied A-Level English Literature with Oxford Home Schooling and their services allowed me to have a very enjoyable studying experience and to achieve even higher results than I was hoping for.

Unlike most other distance learning schools, Oxford Home Schooling does much more than simply providing a tutor to answer the odd question by email. Instead you have regular Skype calls with your tutor, which allows them to support you through every step of the course. This means that you can progress gradually towards meeting the requirements of the exams with just as much individual help and support as you would have if you were learning in a conventional classroom.

This is particularly invaluable if you are doing a subject with NEA coursework, where your tutor is able to mark and authenticate your work for you, as well as giving useful feedback on how best to meet the official assessment objectives.

The general customer service was good as well - Oxford Home Schooling was able to answer any queries we had while looking for an exam centre.

The English Literature course materials provided to self-teach all the necessary content were useful and met my needs, but could be better tailored to the focus of the exams. For example, it would have been helpful if the section on Othello had looked more specifically at how love and gender dynamics are explored in the play, since this is the area covered by the exam. However, any small deficiencies in the course materials were entirely remedied by my tutor, who was very clear about the format and requirements of the exam papers.

Overall, my experience with Oxford Home Schooling was excellent, and I would definitely recommend them.

We receive all the support we need, the Tutors are always available to help, and our son is doing very well. We are happy with OOL.
